Sexual Assault Crimes and Punishments

Sexual Predators who are put in prison for rape get out after only serving half of their sentence because they are “well-behaved” prisoners and end up repeating the same crime. Should rapists and pedophiles get harsher prison sentences when convicted? If so what type of punishments should they receive? Should the punishment be different if the victim is 20 years or older compared to a baby? Or should the punishment be the same because all rape is wrong no matter the age or sex of the victim? Should a sexual assault attempt result in the same punishment has a conviction in sexual assault?

I think it's crazy that pedophiles and rapists get out early and end up doing the exact same thing. I think that the punishment should be much much harsher than what it is now. 25-life sounds good to me. Raping someone is just as bad as murder in my opinion. And it doesn't matter the age or the sex of the victim, because rape is still rape, any way you look at it. Along with a longer prison sentence, I think all persons convicted of rape should have to undergo counseling to try and rid them of their feelings and urges. Also, if they do get out of prison, they should have to be put into a registry as a sex offender, so people know who they are. I also think that a sexual assault attempt should have some form of the same punishment. The whole point is that they ATTEMPTED to sexually assault the victim, and the only reason they didn't succeed is because someone stopped them. If nothing had stopped them, they would have done it. In my mind sexual predators should be punished equally if not harsher than some other major criminals.

I hate the thought of these people. They are trash and garbage, not worth anything to the world. I think that they should get into prison and be raped without mercy. It may seem a little rough, but honestly it seems like the best way to handle it. I dunno, thinking about what I just said maybe that is a little harsh. No, it's fine that's what needs to happen. These people should never be allowed to see the light of day again. I have a little brother, and I hate the idea that there are so many sex offenders out there.

People that have committed sexual assault should be punished severely. They should have to spend time in prison with clothing that tells the specifics of the crime they committed. Nothing pisses cons off like a sexual predator. After they have been rightfully treated in prison, they should be taken to a field and shot in the head. This is my opinion and nothing is going to change my mind about it. It doesn't matter what age the victim it is; it is disgusting regardless the scenario.

I think that they shouldn't get harsher sentences but they shouldn't be able to get out of the full one. The punishment should be the same because the crime is the same. Yes a sexual assualt attempt's punishment be the same as an auctual rape.

I think that sexual predictors should be imprisoned for life, and be fucked since less by the inmates the entirety of their stay, it is very uncommon for these people to ever change their ways because they are selfish and have no morals. I had a friend when I was younger, her mom remarried to what appeared to be a nice sensitive guy. He molested her on a daily basis for the longest two years of her life, and fucked up her entire life. These MEN are ruining these children's lives and they are getting off way to easy. I also know plenty of people who were raped after they were 20; they have never been the same. I believe that something needs to be done to get a stricter punishment on these pedophiles and rapist.

I believe that every single pedophile and rapist should be immediatley put down after being convicted. To do such disgusting things to another human against their will is just not right. The victims that they have assaulted will never be the same and their lives will be changed for the worse forever. I mean if no one wants to get with their nasty ass then they should just go get a porno rather then ruining someones life forever. It is completely sickening and selfish to traumatize someones life for five minutes of sexual satisfaction. And its not fair for all the other people in jail to have to worry if those sickos r going to try to crawl into their bed every night and spoon with them. Just euthanize all their asses.

I cannot believe that these kinds of people are getting out early for good behavior. Anyone that has sexual thoughts about a child is sick and deserves to be locked up for GOOD. These people are actually sick and will do it again after they get out. Dont most of them actually get killed in prison anyway? I also believe that it doesnt matter how old the victim is, anyone that rapes anyone deserves to be locked up.

Rape is the absolute worst crime and universal moral wrong. The people that commit or attempt to commit rape should be hunted down, beaten with an iron, and shot dead. These are the types of people that OTHER CRIMINALS HATE. They are the scum of humanity. Rape takes everything personal away from a person, making the victim a "thing" instead of a human. If people are "wired" this way, then they need to be taken out of our society to protect everyone else. I have seen what it does to people and how it hurts not just the victim, but family, friends, and future relationships. If I came across someone attempting to or raping someone, I would not hesitate to kill them.

Yes, they should get harsher prison sentences. I believe that they shouldn't be able to get out because they're "well-behaved." They should serve all of their sentence and more. I heard that the House wants to increase the punishment from 5 to 10 years. I believe that 10 years is an adequate time for rapists. I think that the punishment should remain the same, no matter the age. I don't care if it's an attempt or if they succeeded, they should get the same sentence.

Rapists and pedophilles definitely need to be locked up for longer than what they already are. Yeah they are well-behaved because they aren't like other criminals. They need to be locked up for along time no matter how old they are compared to their victim(s). Rape is a horrible offense and they all need to get the maximum sentence that the government will allow. Yes sexual assault attempt should be punished the same as a conviction. They would have gone through with it had they not been stopped. They all need 25-life.

I feel that sex offernders should be punished the same as murderers are. It is a very harsh punishment but rape is a very harsh thing. People can't just go around killing people and get away with; as people can't rape and (shouldn't) get away with it. I think that it is absolutely, without a doubt, disgusting that people rape. And should no way get away with it, with hust a slap on the hand.

I think those who attempt to rape someone and accually rape someone should serve the same senatance. If your that messed up in the head to accually rape someone or even consider it then you dont deserve to be in the general population. I think then when being sentanced the convicted should be able to choose weather he wants to serve all of his time in a regular prison or serve a litte less time in an institute that teaches people not to rape people. Putting rapest in a prison with all the other criminals won't make them learn anything. They will just be around a bunch of people that are right in the head either. Putting them in a specialized institute will allow them to have a second chance as long as they change their ways.

I definitely believe that pedophiles and rapists should get a lot harsher punishments than they really do. They shouldn't even get parole! I think the same harsh punishments should be used for any age. Coming from someone firsthand, being raped scars you for life and changes your outlook on almost EVERYTHING! If a rapist can change their victim's lives forever why can't theirs get changed to the same extent. An attempt is just as bad as the real thing. . .just like cospiracy to commit a crime is penalized!

I think sex offenders are getting off way to easy! These people are sick and disgusting, and some of them aren't even getting punished. It's completely ridiculous! I think they should be punished just like murderers. They should be locked up in a prison, and should not be able to recieve parole. Raping is almost as bad as murder in my eyes. Innocent peoples' lives have been crushed, and now they have to live with it for the rest of their lifes. It's just disgusting! These people definitely deserve to be locked up just as if they had murdered someone.

I think that the punishment should be harsher on the person who commits the crime on someone under the age of 16. The younger they are the harsher the punishment should be. No matter what the punishment is, the punishment on the victim is a lot worse. The victim has to remember that for the rest of their life. Their life will be changed and it could also alter them with out them knowing it. I do not think that the convicted person should get out early because of being well behaved. I do think that most of the people who go to prison will do the same thing once they are out in the free world no matter how long they stay in there.
A sexual assault attempt should be treated as the same as a rape because they had the same mind frame, just were just not able to carry through with their act for some reason. Just because they picked a victim who can stand up for them self does not mean that the convicted should good off lightly.

In biblical times when a crime was committed, they normally recieved justice by having whatever limb that was used to committe it REMOVED. If we can give people the electric chair why not remove bodily parts for repeat offenders. I know this may sound a little harsh, but it will be effective.

Sex offenders should be put away for life. When you see shows like Dateline NBC Sex Offenders, it just shows you how many freaks and perverts there are in the world. Thinking about a 40 year old man raping a 14 year old girl just makes me wish that man could be tortured. These kind of people have terrible problems, and for it they should be put away for life. On that dateline show there are guys that have already been in jail for what they've done, and right when they get out they're off doing it again. This just shows and proves to the government these people are sick and need to be locked up in prison. If they like it so much then they should enjoy it from a 300 pound man in prison.

Of course sex offenders and pedofiles should get worse punishment. I'm not a lawmaker, so I wouldn't be able to come up with exact sentencings, but I do know this: Such perpetrators shouldn't be getting out so early. Also, there needs to be more emphasis on treatment because once these people get out, they just end up commiting the same crimes again. What I wanna' know is how some pot dealers have had to do as much as ten to twenty years, while some rapists have gotten out in less than a year.

I think that it is wrong for a person who has been sentenced for sexual assault to get out of jail ahead of time. They were sentenced that long for a reason and should stay in that long regardless of their behavior in prison. It shouldn't matter if they were well-behaved or not. If they didn't want to go to prison in the first place, why not be well-behaved out of prison. I don't know what type of sentences these people are getting now, so I'm not sure if they should be harsher or not, but I know that if they get convicted once, and then are convicted of the crime again, there is no way that person should ever be let of out of prison again.

I don't know what the usual sentence is, but obviously we need harsher punishment since people are still doing it. Yes, an attempt should still have the same conviction as an assault. The punishment should be same no matter the age.

I completely disagree with pedophiles and rapists getting out early for early behavior. I have seen the effects of a mother and child from a pedophile crime, and the predator in that case got out early also. Of course the person is well behaved, they learn the art of coaxing, drugging, or mind playing people. On the sexual assault attempt I don't know. It's hard to make a decision on something like this, when you know there are instances of false conviction. I don't know.

Molesting a child is one of the worst crimes that could ever be committed in my eyes. Anyone who could steal a child’s innocence in such a horrific way is nothing more than a monster. It is not right for them to ever be allowed to see the outside of a prison cell. There is no amount of good behavior that could justify releasing them back into the world. Anytime they release a child molester they may as well be saying see ya soon, go find you’re next victim. Rapists and pedophiles should definitely receive harsher prison sentences. How can they get less jail time than murderers when each act is just as bad, if not worse. Raping anybody is completely wrong, but raping a child is just the sickest thing anyone could do. The people who allow these predators to go free are just as guilty as the predators themselves. They should be held accountable for any victims the criminal sexually assaults after they release them.
