Are credit cards an addiction?

Do you have a credit card? For what purposes do you think that credit cards should be used for? In recent years, teens began receiving credit card applications in the mail. Do you think its possible that the credit card companies are trying to get us "hooked" on their cards while we are young and cannot make payments according to their credit and financing terms?

Why do you think people tell so many blonde jokes? I am always getting pointed fun at with blonde jokes, yet almost all of the jokes are stupid......and usually told by nonblondes. Where did the idea that blonds are stupid come from? (I'm sure from someone ignorant!)
Do you really feel it is fair or necessary to make fun of others for something as silly as their hair color? Could it be that some people are just jealous of blondes? Or do you think there is another reason behind these jokes?

Entertainment or much more?

Do music lyrics have more power than what is intended? Do they influence the mind so much that they become actions?

Example: LiL' Wayne: "I wish I could F**K every girl in the World."

Why is it ok for a girl to say no to sex but not a guy? If a guy tells a pretty girl no he doesn't want to have sex he is often called gay. Have you ever tried to tell your girlfriend you didn't want to have sex? Has your boyfriend ever told u that? Why does saying no to sex make some girls mad?

D. Young (noon)

Think first . . .

Why when we are mad do we tend to say things we don't mean? Why do we then apologize for it later? And why don't we just think about the situation before it goes too far?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Teen Pregnancy

What are your opinions on teen pregnancy? Should the teen have a say on whether or not they would like to keep the baby? What risks are they taking and how can they learn from their mistakes?

Alicia Kellup (7:30)

What would you consider Child Abuse?

What would you consider child abuse? When has a parent or friend taken things too far? Different people view child abuse diffrently such as physical, emotional, and sexual. Spanking a child with a belt or hand--is that abuse? Cursing and screaming--is that abuse? Hugging and kissing--is that abuse?
Thanks for your help!

To Write Love on Her Arms

Do you think that help support organizations such as TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS help people find help expressing their personal pains verbally with someone instead of inflicting it upon themselves?

-Joe Brucker (7:30)

kids & computers

Should parents give their kids a time limit on the computer? In some cases it is not safe to have a child on the internet because they can end up meeting up with someone who is way older than they are and end up getting raped. They also can abuse their bodies by putting up naked photos of themselves. Do you think parents should have a lock on certain websites for their teenage kids?

Walter (7:30)

kids having kids

Are teens having babies at an early age ? How would they even know how to take care of a baby when they can't take care of themselves? Could there be a way to better teach children about having babies and what their lives will end up like in the long run? Or do you think it's okay for 14- and 15-year-olds to have babies?

Gaming an Addiction?

Video games are quickly becoming the largest past time for many in the world today. More and more games are growing with the technology as well, adding real world dynamics to further immerse the players. Countless more even, allowing the creation of "Avatars" or alter egos of themselves. These virtual presentations of ones self help to create separation between real and fantasy. So what sends some to devote hours or even full days to playing nothing but games? When does it become an addiction? Is it truly an addiction at all? When is it no longer just a game?

Few have opened lawsuits blaming certain "online role playing games" linking their involvement in suicides of world youth and young adults. Are these games just as responsible to these cases as internet blogs and social networking sights? Is addiction to blame?

Do you ever think about where your egg and poultry production is coming from? Do you know what you're getting when you buy a dozen eggs at the grocery store? Do you think the quality or nutrition of an egg depends on how the chicken is treated?

What's Your View on a Abusive Relationship?

All abusive relationships are bad, right? No one really deserves to go through anything like that. What would you do in this situation? When and how is the right way to get out of a relationship? Who can you talk to? Where should you go? How would you help your friend? Is it more abusive being in a relationship as a teen? Is this just a stage everyone goes through in some point of their lives? What if you don't want to lose the one you THINK you love.

What is your side on abortion?

Many people on the subject of abortion will say that it is not right, that your killing a life before it even has a chance to live yet. On the other hand, others would say that it is the decision of the parents to choose what they will do with their unborn child, while a select few are in the middle of this debate. In your opinion, is taking a life of a child before it is born right, or is it the opinion of the family involved? What do you think is the cause of abortion? Was it unexpected, unintentional, or are there not many couples that want that heavy responsibility to raise a child?

Michael's curiosity on why marijuana remains illegal

Do you ever think to yourself why is marijuana illegal? What are the reasons? And how can alcohol be legal when it makes people violent and angry but a drug that makes people peacefull and easy-going such as canabis still remains against the law? Medical marijuana should at least be aloud in the states hospitals to numb some of the pain that many people have to go through every year after major surgeries and operations dont you think?

Hermaphrodites - Boys or girls?

Should hermaphrodites be forced by law to have a gender selection surgery? Why or why not? If you had a child who was born a hermaphrodite would you choose their sex for them? How will the decision be made and what are the long-term effects if you get it wrong? Will the child ever be told that they are or were a hermaphrodite?

What is a hermaphrodite? How common is hermaphroditism? What do doctors do when they encounter a patient with both reproductive organs? Would you consider gender reassignment if you had a child born with both reproductive organs? How does a person become a hermaphrodite? Why isn't the general public familiar with people who are hermaphrodites? Since a person who is a hermaphrodite has both reproductive organs can they get themselves pregnant?

"Professionalism" in the workplace

I was once told by an employer if I didn't remove my earrings and cut my hair, even though I kept it clean and combed, I wouldn't get my promotion and raise. In my opinion, having two hoops in my ears or having longer hair doesn't affect my job performance. Just because some boss doesn't like guys wearing earrings or a girl who has blue hair, on a personal level, that doesn't give them the right to discriminate. What is professionalism? Is it not wearing too much make-up or not having tattoos below your elbows? How you look does not affect the way you work, so why do employers tend to choose a plain jane person as opposed to a person who likes to express themselves and be a little different? Do you think it's right to discriminate in those situations or do you feel the workplace should look "professional?" Your thoughts?

How to you feel about illegal immigrants?

What is your take on immigrants coming over to the U.S? Do you feel that they are here to take our jobs from us because they expect less pay than we do? Do you believe that if we didn't have illegal immigrants here that most factories would close down because many Americans don't like that kind of work?
Any other thoughts on illegal immigrants?

overspending on drugs?

Do you think some of the $$ spent on researching and developing new drugs and medical treatments could be put to better use? Over the last 5 years billions of dollars have been spent on the development of new pills to treat conditions ranging from erectile dysfunction to cancer . . . but in many cases the pills don't work, or they have serious side-effects that aren't discovered until years later. All things considered, do you think our government wastes money on drug development? Should we be looking at natural alternatives?

Growing up without your dad

I am currently reading the book The Bond, and it is having such an impact on my life. It is about three African American men who grew up without their fathers and made a pact that they would make it out of the ghetto and become doctors no matter what. All three ran into all kinds of obstacles along the way, but they were determined to complete their goals. Three single mothers raised their sons the best they could and look what the outcome gave them. Three handsome doctors. My question is, "How do men become men without their father?"

the consequences of global poverty

What are the effects of global poverty? Do you have any idea how many people in the world starve each day? How many who are far, far below the poverty line? Does global poverty affect us all, or does it only affect the poor & working class people of society? What are the implications of so many people in the world being impoverished ? What are the far-reaching consequences of poverty?

Do you think we take the problem of poverty seriously enough? What could or should be done to deal about poverty?

Phone Tapping????

Does the Government have the right to listen in on your private phone calls? What ever happened to the privacy act? I know National Security is important but listening to a teenager talking about nailing his girlfriend is not going to help make our nation more secure. Now if that teenager was a middle eastern with a connection to the freakin taliban I can see why listening in on his phone conversation might be important, but should the government have the right to invade the privacy of ANYONE they want to based on the premise that they're trying to keep the country safe?
At what point, if any, is privacy more important than safety?
Let me hear your opinion . . .

Can A Law Abiding Citizen get a Break Around Here?

I know most of you have been driving down the street, when you see those infamous red, and blue lights, and look down at your Speedo to find your going 7 over. I think that my tax dollar should go to more important things than to pay a cop to pull me over, A legal, hardworking, tax paying citizen for 7 miles over the legal limit. Cops need to stop focusing on all the petty stuff and arrest the real criminals. I realize it’s not that simple, and cops are probably pushed to write tickets to bring in money. I’m not attacking police officers; I just think the system needs some tweaking.

Your thoughts? Thanks!

Racism--can we really avoid it?

Is anything necessarily wrong about racism? I know some racists who are white and some who are black. They don't necessarily think their race is better than the other, but they do see whites and blacks as different from each other. Is that racism? If I get a little more watchful and on guard when a group of young blacks come in my store late at night than I do when a group of young whites come in, is that racism? I mean, I can't really help the way I feel, can I? (I'm white, by the way.) I'm not saying whites are better than blacks or vice versa. I'm just pointing out that depending on how you're raised you might be more comfortable around one race than another and have certain ideas about other races that are passed on to you. This is probably true for all races--White, Black, Latino, Asian, etc. Is that racism? Is that a problem?

Many people think racism should be illegal, do you? How could you prove someone is a racist if they don't behave like one?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Gas prices too high? Think again!

Why do people get scared of or mad about high gas prices? If you really think about it, we are paying for somewhat cheaper gas when compared to a place like London, where gas is 1.10 a pound, which converts to $7.52 a gallon!

With the economy where it is today, everything is extremely high--food, water, and resources. When we all know that no matter how high they are going to get, you're still going to buy it, why do we even bother worrying about prices?

There are still some of us out there who dont give a crap about gas prices. My 2001 F-150 4x4 5.4L gets 13 mpg on the highway and less than that in the city. I'm cool with that because I know not being cool with it isn't going to get me anywhere or make any difference at all. Yes, right now gas prices are pretty low again, but you know they're going to go way up eventually (when the oil companies decide they want record profits again) . . . but when they do go up, who cares? Are you seriously not going to drive your car?

Honestly, who really gives a shit about high gas prices? And why?

Thanks for your input.

Human Genetic Engineering

Is genetic engineering a useful tool that could be used in preventing life-long disease and genetic mutation, or is it a danger to society that will inevitably increase the gap between the rich and the poor? Genetic engineering is the direct manipuation of an organism's genes. Using the DNA sequence, genetic engineers can manipulate a baby's genes before it is even born. This concept would allow the enigneers to remove part of the DNA that is damaged or insert genes that are missing, thus preventing the child from being born with disorders like Cerebral Palsey, cystic fibrosis, and other genetic diseases. Genetic engineering would also allow parents to create their "perfect child, " including choosing its sex, hair and eye color, even its athletic ability and intelligence.
Genetic Engineering is already being used to help infertile women concieve. It is a very expensive set of procedures that most can't afford, and most insurances will not cover it, meaning that only the very wealthy can actually partake in genetic modifcation, leading some to believe it will only perpetuate the already widening gap between the wealthy and the poor. With that being said, should human genetic engineering be allowed in the United States? Or should it be banned? Where should the line be drawn?

Should we help out other countries in need?

Should the United States have a moral obligation to help out other countries in need? What about when the USA has problems to solve of its own? With America's struggling economy taking a toll on its citizens should we really be sending billions of dollars over seas to the Middle East and third world countries in Africa?
Since America gives the most aid during times of struggle, should we be able to receive foreign aid? After Hurricane Katrina the government refused millions of dollars of foreign aid, while thousands of people were homeless and left devasted. Since America is the biggest giver and is one of the richest nations in the world is it wrong to receive aid from other countries?
Thanks--

Torture in U.S prisions

In the United States when people go to prision you do not (usually) get tortured or beat, but if you go to prision in Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo, you get dressed like a girl, put on a leash, and dogs are set after you. These two prisions are under United States Military control and get away with these sorts of cruel acts because they claim these two prisons are not on U.S soil. So does that give them the right to torture someone?
Please let me know your opinion on this. Thanks.

Water pills in Football

Most people know how football players are tested for steroids and how they are punished for using them. Do you think it's right to be punished for being caught using water pills, which are pills that can be used to hide steroids and other drugs. Do you think that the punishment should be the same as if they were caught with steroids in their system?

What do you think about the punishment on water pills?

Do you think the players should be able to appeal what they are being charged with?

Alcohol vs. Marijuana

We have all seen the drunk guy walking down the sidewalk, stumbling on and off of the street, right? It's relatively easy to tell when a person is drunk. Whether they are happy or sad, raging or stupid, it's usually an easy tell. But how often can you tell that someone is high? A slight slant of the eye and some redness, added to a little extra laughter are about the only tells that a person is high.
Why is marijuana illegal, while guys are getting off of work, getting drunk and beating their wives, getting in fights, driving and endangering others, and so on while on alcohol?
How many people get off of work, get high, then go cause trouble? Slim to none.
I'm not exactly for legalization of marijuana, but I also dont see what the big deal is.
Why can't the government legalize it and tax the living shit out of it? Wouldn't the government then be making money instead of spending it to keep drugs off the street?
So, what does everyone think? What's worse? Drinking or getting high?
