Abortion has been a highly argumentive subject for many years. While some feel it is acceptable, others argue that it's murder to an innocent life. When is abortion acceptable and when is it not? Or is it acceptible at all?Thank you for your honest opinion!

I think that abortion is a very tricky subject, but ultimately I think it's the woman's choice whether or not she wants to have the baby. When the mother is in the early stages or pregnancy, it is more acceptable in society to get an abortion. Also, if the woman was raped or the child was going to be neglected or treated badly I think it would be OK. Again, I think it's the woman's choice, it's her body and only she knows what is best for her. Some people say that any kind of abortion is murder, and I don't entirely agree with that. When a baby has a heartbeat, that's when I say that it's murder. But if it's just a fetus, I think it's her choice.

I don't think abortion is okay. There are many different circumstances that could be why you are pregnant but no matter what, your baby is a human being and I believe abortion is wrong. Considering abortion is most likely from an unwanted pregnancy. If it was from being raped, it would be hard but I still don't think it is right. If you are having sex, pregnancy can obviously result. Therefore, you already knew it was a possibility and so it's your fault. You shouldn't kill the baby because you made a mistake. There are alternative options after it is born, but it wasn't the baby's fault. I think abortion is a difficult situation anyway you look at it. An abortion will leave the mother with scars every day for the rest of her life. After nine months of pregnancy, you can give the baby up for adoption, or keep it if you decide. You can take nine months of your life and live with the "mistake" you made. Recently a rumor was going around that one of my best friends from high school was pregnant. People were saying that she wanted to get an abortion and her parents didn't know. I was so shocked. It made me think a lot about what I would do if I was ever in that situation. I know it would be difficult, but I would NEVER get an abortion. I ended up talking to my friend a week later. Everything I had heard was a rumor and she was hurt because people were going to think she had an abortion because she wasn't pregnant. I don't believe it's right in any circumstance. The baby can have a normal life if you just let it.

Overall, I believe that abortion is wrong. Many times, women who get abortions are teenage girls who fool around. It's your fault that you didn't have safe sex. If you're willing to have sex, then you should be required to deal with the consequences. The only case where abortion is kinda ok is when the woman is in danger, or something is wrong with the child. If a child will only suffer in life, then abortion is a reasonable alternative.

Yes! Abortion is murder. The choice for a woman to have a baby or not starts with just simply protecting herself before sex. It's not the babies fault that you was careless and didn't protect yourself. And the Bible states 'thou shalt not commit murder'. You are a murderer if you have an abortion or if you are in agreement with abortion! If a baby is made through a rape, have the baby and bless another family that can't have children with a child. God is the giver of life, so don't loose eternal life taking another life.

I personally would not classify abortion as murder. Although as a male i do believe i have no right to affect a females decision in this situation. I believe a person should be able to do what they want with their body regardless if it goes against societies moral values or not. The female who has an abortion is going to be the only person that is affected by this decision. But personally i do not feel like it is murder. I do not believe the baby can feel the pain and its life may have been made easier by ending it sooner rather then having it deal with all the commotion in this world. Like i said before i dont quite believe it is murder but i would rather not get an abortion because that is a sin in my opinion.

I used to not really have any opinion about the matter. I kind of felt like it was a choice people could make. I still feel that way sort of. I mean it isn't up to me to tell somebody else what they should do. Ye without sin, cast the first stone, but one time somebody made a comment to me of what if my little brother had been aborted and I never got to experience all the joys and wonderment that he is. Either way, if i got some gal pregnant, I wouldn't want the baby aborted. It is a miracle from God, and I would want to love it with everything that I am even if I am not in the right place in my life right now for something of that magnitude.

I believe that abortion is very wrong,I don't think there is any excuse to kill a child. Even if a woman is raped I believe she should keep the baby because I had a really good friend growing up that helped me out a lot; she was a child of rape, and without her, growing up the way I did would have been harder. I'm not planning on picketing in front of an abortion clinic any time soon, and I don't judge those that chose that over life, but I also know that I have two kids that have grown, and in them I have grown as a person, and without them I don't know were I would be today.

First off, A WOMANS BODY IS HER BUSINESS AND SHE CAN DO WHAT SHE WANTS WITH IT. I believe abortion before a certain trimester is moraly ok. Everyone resorts to God and the ten commandments when talking about abortion but what they forget is not everyone believes in GOD and I don't care what anyone says, NO ONE can prove he does exist. What if the mother is 11,12,13,14,or 15. What if she was raped or just taken advantage of. Should she have to give up the rest of her life at no fault of her own. I wish people would just learn to let people be.. I would say with my beliefs that it is completely wrong. Killing something that will grow into a person is just wrong to me. The worst part of abortion is that in some places you can get it in the 3rd trimester. That IS a BABY you are killing!!There are four types of abortions and they are all grusome to describe. One is called Suction Dilation which is done in the first 12 weeks of life. In this procedure a suction utensil with a sharp end shreds the fetus. Another type is at 18 weeks "salt poisoning" a needle with saline is injected into the sac. This poisons and burns the baby until it dies and you give birth to a dead/DYING baby within the next 24 hours. At 6 months you can get Prostaglandin Chemical Abortion that gives violent contractions that mutilate the baby while you give birth. You can get a Cesarean section to be rid of the baby, which sounds nicer but really it is set in a room to suffocate. Partial birth abortion is done when the baby is to be born and the doctor pulls the legs out with forcepts along with all of the body except for the head. The head is jabbed with scissors and the brains are sucked out....How does that not disgust you?! I don't care who you are, that baby has a heartbeat by the 12th week. It is a little person!It would only be acceptable if the mother was going to die absolutely if the baby was not delivered.

Life is formed at the point of conception. (when the sperm fertilizes the egg) This conception happen in the fallopian tubes. Birth control pills work by tricking the female body into thinking it is pregnant and not allowing the entity to attach to the uterus walls, thus commiting an act of ABORTION. So, if you are against abortion then you are also against birth control pills.
I believe early abortion is up to the woman involved. It is her choice, no one should force her to have a child or do away with it. For extremists, who believe abortion should be outlawed with no exceptions, I give an example.
A little girl (under 5-12, there are cases of 5 yr. olds conceiving)is raped and impregnated. She has already had a horrific and traumatizing experience, would it be acceptable to worsen the experience by dragging her through 9 months of confusing and scary pregnancy?

I think that it is only acceptible when it is a life or death situation. Like if the mother was teriably sick because of the pregnancy and the baby wasn't going to live anyways for some reason. Overall I think that it is wrong though, because for all you know it could of grown up and found the cure for cancer.

I have a torn decision if I think its right or not. I think if a woman is raped or gets into a situation where she would not be able to take care of the baby, then that should be the only time she should consider it. If its just to take the easy way out, or a form of birth control, then thats not a very good way to take care of things. There is always adoption, so that the baby has a chance of growing up in a home where it will be loved. I do agree though that it is the womans choice to choose what she does.

I am not here to judge others. If they have an abortion then that was their choice. For me, if i was in that situation then i would have the baby because no matter who, when, or where that is a life and i do not have the right to take it. Abortion is a big deal and is highly debated in our society today. People view it as wrong and as a way out of their mistakes they make in life. I feel that if you are old enough to have sex than you are old enough to take care of a baby. SO if that means you have to give it up through open adption, which is a good thing these days. You get to pick your parents for the kid and can still be there for the kids. You can keep it and raise it yourself if you want to just give the baby a chance. My only accetible way to have an abortion is if you were raped and did not want to see that kid who looks like the one who destroyed you mentally for the rest of your life. To me once its considered conception its a baby and it is murder to take that one kids life.

Abortion is defintiely murder. It is a living being and the doctor kills it. The only times I see abortion as acceptable is when 1)the mother was raped and became preganant or 2) the mother's health is in danger if she has a child. The first option though is still kind of tough for me to argue you for though. Technically it is still a child, but the way it was brought about was niether moral nor natural. The second option is easy to argue for becuase you arem putting someone's life at risk and you are not positive about the baby's health after that. There are many different alternatives to abortions with the main one being putting it up for adoption.

I only think abortion is acceptable when the life is at risk for the mother or baby and if the woman in raped and ends up pregnant. Even though there is protection for the first situation, not all protection works, hints the 99.9% rating on them.
Don't have an abortion because you can not afford to take care of the child. There are so many people in the world who can not have kids or do not want to change their body to have a child. Once you find out that you are pregnant and you do not want to keep it, that is when you should find a good family for the baby and hopefully they will help with the bills and make sure that you are taken care of and the baby is taken care of.

I really don't like to talk about abortion. I would rather leave it up to someone else to scrutinize over when we become human;it seems far to crass to discuss. I know in my heart that abortion is not right. But I have no desire to get involved in the politics of everyone else's decision. I had an unplanned pregnancy 2yrs ago and I was an emotional wreck. I wanted better circumstances for my child, and I breifly considered adoption but I knew that we belonged together.

I think that abortion is acceptible in the early stages of pregnancy. I think that abortion should be allowed up to a certain point in pregnancy. I dont think it should just be up to the mother weather or not to have the baby. There are many times where girls are too young to know whats really going to happen when they are being forced to raise a child. That can often lead to the child being poorly treated or even put in the foster care. It should also be allowed if the women has been raped or if the women is already having trouble raising the kids she already has. I dont really know exactly how I feel about it. Its kind of a hard topic for me to feel strongly one way or the other about.

I think abortion is very tough subject to overcome, but I do think it okay under a few circumstances. I think that if a girl was to get raped I think it would be very hard for to her to keep a child that caused her such tragedy. Maybe she feels like she shouldn't keep the baby because it would remind of her the horribe incident. But, at the same I feel like people need to think before they have sex. Any girl can get pregnant, and it's just a chance everyone is willing to take. I think getting an abortion just because someone doesn't want a baby is stupid! There are so many families out there who can't have children, but are dying to have one. So, why not give the child to a couple who can't concieve? I just think people should think about their consequences before they have sex.

Abortion is a very hard topic. I do not believe abortion is acceptable in any case. There could be different circumstances where some people think abortion is okay (example-rape) however, the baby is a human being and I believe it is murder. If you have sex you have to suffer the consequences.

In my opinion, abortion is only acceptible to save the life of the mother. Period. And that should eliminate the need for partial birth abortion altogether. (If you do not know what aprtial birth abortion is, let me know and I can give you a description.)
Abortion should not be used to terminate a pregnancy just to make the lives of the parents more...anything. Abortion should not be used to erase what some might consider a "mistake".
Abortion should never be used as birth control.
The argument of rape is moot since less than 1% of all abortions are necessitated by those victims.
I really love when people use the argument of "a woman's choice". Everyone knows that choice is made before the baby is even conceived. People know that sex leads to making babies, so if women want a choice, before conception should be when they make that choice.
I have never considered abortion a tricky subject. I could never kill a born baby so why kill a pre-born baby?
Abortion is very complex and iffy I think. To me, I think it's the women's choice since they are carrying the child. It's very sad when you think that you're killing an innocent life form, but the baby can't say anything for itself. The biggest argument for me is, the women and man made this happen so they should have been more careful. I knew a girl that was my age, a junior in high school that found out she was pregnant. She thought her life was over, she couldn't enjoy anything anymore because she would always be taking care of the baby. She got an abortion, she felt absolutley terrible, but to her she could go back to her normal life. I couldn't imagine being put in this position. You're killing this life form that is half you. To me, abortion is still up to the mother.

Abortion is a controversial subject on a number of levels. I personally believe that it is up to the woman. She is going to be the one carrying the baby. She is the one that has to take the ridicule by people if she decides to get rid of it. People make mistakes and sometimes they are able to make up for their mistakes. So why should abortion not be a way for people to correct their mistakes. There are a lot of factors that can go into why people get abortions. One example is if the girl got raped, should it be acceptable then, or should the girl have to have the child as a reminder of what happened to her. Abortion is up to the woman.

Wade was a decision that a fetus was not a human being and that abortions are permissible for any reason a woman chooses, up until the "point at which the fetus becomes ‘viable,’ that is, potentially able to live outside the mother's uterus, albeit with artificial aid. Abortion like slavery, ethnic cleansing, Hitler's Germany and any other form of genocide is based on the premise that one segment of society due to causing a financial, social,physical or emotional burden is no longer part of humanity.
Any time we strip a human being of their person hood such as giving a person of color a racial slur for a name, referring to person of religious integrity a towel head, bible thumper or kike we enter into a dark bottomless pit where society ends and murder begins....just like calling a baby a fetus. It dehumanizes that child.
It is so easy to forget that a "fetus feels pain when covered with acid that eats up its body." Of course if we did that to a human child we would be monsters but its "a choice" when it is a fetus.
By calling the child a different name then a child we may forget that it is a human being.
Of course, if the fetus is allowed to live it always turns out to be a human being?!
I recognize to take that choice away from the "the Mother" may cause her economic hardship, social stigmatism and physical pain but the slave traders in the old south, the Nazi war criminals, and the Cambodian Khmer Rouge who filled the killing fields with millions of dead Cambodians and Vietnamese could use the same argument.
Abortion of a human being on demand cannot be sanctioned as a society. Even a veterinarian will not spay a cat or a dog that is pregnant because that would destroy the life of baby animals.
By providing abortion on demand as a society, we have descended lower than the animal kingdom.

I think depending on the circumstances it is okay for a woman to get an abortion. Under the circumstances if the woman was raped and became pregnant because of it then she should have the choice on wether or not to keep the baby. She may not want a child to remind her of that awful incident. If I got pregnant i would definatley not get an abortion. It would be the consequences for my own actions. If i choose to have sex and get pregnant then i should deal with the consequences of my actions. I have recently talked with my boyfriend about why we are not having sex and we both know that we are not ready for the consequences that may come with it. If i truly became pregnant i would never have an abortion.

I believe abortion is considered murder. It's hard to use the word murder but if you look at the definition murder is killing another human being. A baby is a human being. I used to believe abortion was ok if a woman was raped, but now I am very confused by that situation. I believe no one can say for sure how they feel about it until they are in that situation. I believe having an abortion would affect a woman for the rest of her life (emotionally and physically) knowing what happened and if you've ever seen any video on the subject it is absolutly revolting! On the other hand I can't say that I would be able to live with giving my child up for adoption knowing a part of me is out there and not knowing if they are ok or not. As far as abortion for someone who "accidently" got pregnant you should not be having sex unless you are prepared for everything that comes with it. Sex is meant for mature individuals and if you are not mature enough to handle a pregancy you are not mature enough to be having sex. If you do get pregnant and are afraid of what your parents might think, you'd probably be surprised of their reaction. Yes they are probably not going to be happy about it and it may take some time for them to get used to the idea but I believe most parents would rather know and help their child through the difficult situation than find out their child had an abortion because they were too afraid of how their parents would react. Overall I believe abortion is wrong. If you are afraid of what people might think because you're young, not married, athletic, whatever, don't worry about what others think - think of what your baby might think of you not giving them a chance to live, or what your family might think of you aborting their grandchild, neice, or nephew.
I feel that abortion is vey wrong and should be stopped. When you take the life of a baby, your playing the hand of god.God is the only person decide who lives and dies and when you make that choice your going against everything that got intends for us on this earth. I would rather have my chold adopted and put into a foster than killed. Abortion is murder and there is no excuse for killing an unborn child in any case.

I believe that abortion is wrong. It is definately the murder of a child because life does begin at conception, and it is after this when abortion takes place. So if you do believe that abortion in any case is acceptable, you are basically saying that it is okay to take the life of a very young child. No matter what the case is, such as a rape or just not wanting to have a baby, abortion should not be the answer. Every fetus should have the right to live a full and successful life, and I don't think anybody has the right or power to take the life away. So I guess that if you agree with abortion, you are also okay with the killing of an innocent person.

Okay, so abortion is acceptable whenever. I think two cases especially being rape and medical reasons. If a woman was raped, she should have an abortion, or if for any reason a woman would be injured if she had a baby, I think that she should have an abortion as well. In any case, I think that abortion is pro-choice and I think that it is the woman's choice what she wants to do with her body. Nobody can tell you what you want you can or cannot do with YOUR body.

I, like everyone else, would say that the whole idea behind abortion is not a good one. But, under some circumstances, I can see why people would get one. I may disagree with it, but there are times when it might be okay. This is one of those subjects that just really depends on the individual. If I found out that I was pregnant, I would have no idea what to do. It would take me a while to figure it out, and I can say that abortion would be one of my options. But, I couldn't live with myself if I really did take the easy way out. When I do hear of people getting abortions, I look down on them, but I really don't know why. It's their decision, just hopefully it was a good one that took a long time to think of.

Abortion should not be acceptable in any case, including rape. That's what adoption is for. There are so many couples out there that want children so bad--but can't. Why not bless someone who actually wants a child rather than kill it. You can twist words any way you want but abortion is murder. Period.

I really hate to discuss this topic. I read up on the OCP's being abortifacients after reading Daniel's entry. I don't know exactly how I feel about it, but I believe the pill is still better than an all out unprotected sex idea, or just condoms. I still don't know at what stage I believe it is a life. On the other hand, I don't believe that abortion should be an open thing. I have a friend who is a pregnancy counselor (in another college town) and when asked the number one type of person who came in and wanted an abortion-- she told me it was college girls who didn't want to lose their scholarships. What kind of country will we be if a thousand of babies are aborted so a thousand girls can keep playing sports. I do know I believe in a choice for abortion if someone is raped, or if the mother's life is endanger due to the fetus.

I think that it is a womans choice. It is her body and her decision that she will have to live with for the rest of her life. It is acceptable when it comes down to saving the mothers life. It is also acceptable if the child is the result of rape.
