Today's new generation of students is so much more violent then ever. Why do you think that is?
1. Could it be the enviroment they live in?
2. Maybe they have absent parents who dont pay any attention to them.
3. Maybe they have parents that pay attention, but spoil them with things to show a sign of love.
4. It could be due to gangs.
5. Maybe they're trying to fit in.
6. It might be because of the media and how they portray things
7. Video games and movies might be a strong influences.
Please give me your thoughts on this issue. Thank you.

Students today are more violent than yesterday just cause society is more violent. Every movie and TV show now a days seem to have some form of violence. Cartoons are not all just for children entertainment, many are for grown up entertainment, and this cartoon with adult humor is confusing. Many kids dont have an adult to control them and watch them like back in the days. Single parents have to work twice as hard and are never home, so the only thing to raise the child is the street gangs. The street gangs are all out to control territory and will due anything to get it, meaning many violent acts. Some students act violent because of there mistreatment at school. Some are just acting violent to prove that they are not a little nerdy kid and things in that area.
i think todays youth is more violent just because of what is going on in the world as a whole. i think the environment that they live in has alot to do with it but then there are people that live in a good environment that just want to rebel and be violent. people that grow up in the bad parts of town that have to struggle to make ends meet may resort to doing violent things to either get money or to get recognition from others that can help them out. i know that parents also can help out in this situation because if they are never there the kids will never learn the right thing, but if they are there but just dont care then the kid will think oh my parents are this way so why shouldnt i be. i grew up in a little town that didnt have any gangs but there was still some violence just because people thought they would be cool and being mean was the way to get attention. if one person is getting attention someone else wants that same attention so they do bad things then it just escalades and it ends up being violent. the media also plays a big roll in violence because you almost cant find a movie or a tv show that isnt violent anymore. personally i think there are many different things that cause kids to be violent not just one.

I think that children today are more violent than ever because their parents let them get away with murder so to speak. It is also do to their peers too, peers can be a big influence. Some parents yes do spoil their children by getting everything they want, then they just become brats and think they can get away with things. When it comes to illegal things, they think their parents can get them out of it. Well sorry, that is not how our society works now-a-days. My mom and dad always said, if I got myself in legal trouble and was sent to jail, I might as well not call, because I would be doing the time.
I also believe that video games, movies, television, just the media in general is a major part. There are a lot of things out there that give the wrong ideas and those are what gets the children in trouble.

I think violence is more prevalent in our society because of mass media. It's true that TV, movies and video games are more violent than ever, but also they desensitize us. In a book I am reading, it is said that in World War II only 10% of the actually infantry soldiers shot at or attempted to kill their enemy soldiers. That percent was up to 90 by the end of Vietnam. It is a lot easier to try to kill someone if you do not see them as your peer. I also believe that the love in our childhoods is quickly vanishing. With more and more single parents, or both parents working more and more, it is becoming more common for babysitters or nannies to care for kids, or even leaving the kid alone at home. The child will not receive the proper love and attention that another kid raised by his parents would get.
I think these two factors, along with violence in media is hurting our society.

Society is more violent now than ever before. The movies we watch are over the top with violence, the media glamorizes violent acts, the video games for kids now are terrible. Even some of the music is violent. So it should not be a surprise that the younger generation are violent. How many school shooting has there been in recent years. The coverage on a school shoot will last for months, but it is very hard to turn on the tv and see anything good reported on in the media. Like it or not people are products of their environment. It is the parents of this generation to work with them and explain that the world has gone crazy and they have to make good choices. The bad choices are sometimes the easier choice, but the easier choice is not as rewarding.
1) The environment that someone lives in is a definite cause of what could help contribute to someone being violent.
2) If a child/s is not supervised by their parents they are bound to find trouble to get in. Especially if the in environment which they live in is not a positive one. A positive environment would be one that promotes grow, education, and responsibility.
3) I don’t think this in its self would cause a child to be violent. If the parents don’t show love to the kid/s, and just give them everything they want this could led to the kid/s acting out.
4) If the kid/s is in a gang there are problems in the house holed. The kid/s must be trying to find some sort of family, are scared, or have the wrong road models. All of the problems just listed might be solved by having parents, which looked after their kid/s better.
5) Someone committing random acts of violents is not just trying to fit in. They have some problems! I think, if their parents played a more important roll in their life, then the kid/s might not be acting out as much.
6) The media does not create violent crimes on other people, they report it. I don’t see how someone could say the media would be the contributing factor to make a kid/s hurt someone.
7) Violent video games and movies may help to desensitize someone. These violent things, in its self it does not make someone, jump from the TV to reality to cause harm to another. Video games and movies are fiction and there is not way to completely say this was the cause of someone’s action. If someone was to blame video games and movies, they are just trying to make the kid/s a victim. If parents were there to watch over their kid/s, to not expose them to violent things, then this would not be a problem. Parents that allow their kid/s to be expose to video games and movies are not bad either they just need to explain one is fiction and the other is reality.

I think alot of it has to do with the environment they grow up in. Some kids don't have parents or anyone else to turn to if they need anything. So they have to learn to take care of themselves, and for some kids this means learning to be violent. It could have a little to do with gangs depending on where you live and how you were raised. It could be peer pressure and trying to fit in. Some kids would do anything to fit in. I don't think it has much to do with video games or movies, unless children haven't been taught that these things aren't real. Then I could see how this might affect some kids. I think the media could cause some of the problem. If something bad happens its all over the news and the internet, but if someone does something good for people we rarely ever hear about it. So yeah I think the media is a big influence on the students of this generation.
I think that students today are more violent because of the level of violence they are a witness to in everday life. It could be through the media, and games or other people that are part of thier lives. I know that people that are single parents have a hard time spending that quality time with their kids but its not the kids fault that no one is there to give them boundaries. In cases where the kids are overly spoiled the parents are just trying to overcome thier own insecurities or feelings of guilt for being gone all the time by giving thier children what they want; kids in turn can lash out in a negative manner because they need those limitations and dicipline to keep them on the right track. I think that children exposed to violent video games and movies at a young age can sometimes lead to violent measures against others when they are older. I also think that sometimes violence becomes an issue in schools when certain people can be ridiculed for too long and want to end the mistreatment and take out thier aggresions through violent shootings or other forms of abuse.

It's not necessarily the environment, but it could have an affect if it's a really bad neighborhood. The main cause in my opinion is the parents that don't pay attention or care what their children do. They also don't know that you also show you love them by disciplining them when they are out of line. It could be gangs in bigger cities, it's not very noticible in central Illinios. There is alot of peer pressure among young adults to fit in whether or not you are doing something that is legal or not. The media is making a mistake by glorifying the people that do violent things to others. Video games and movies do play a strong role in what the young adults do by showing them alot of things they shouldn't be doing.
I do believe believe students are more violent today then in the passed years. This is based on something and I actually do blame it on society. This ranging from how parents raise their children from a young age, then to what's out to the public eye such as t.v., video games, movie, influence from other friends, etc... This violence is going to continue to happen and there is not much that we can do about it or even try to stop it, because many will rebel and it just won't work. To many gangs influence the up coming children to be in a gang and this number continues to grow. I understand in some cases how some children aren't in fault at all and the parents are the ones to blame but at same time neither is everything that is in the public eye helping this problem. It's a way to be for most kids now but they don't wanna feel uncool and be outside of the "group" so they chose to take a different path from the good one. Many things are in effect when it comes to kids to be more violent then ever.

i think that all the violent that kids are watching now is from either their parents not caring or the fact that society is just more violent. the environments has a lot to do with it. there are also a lot of parents that do watch what their kids are doing, but they let them do what ever they want and get what they want.i don't think that the gangs have anything to do with it, its more of kids thinking that they are in gangs that gets them to be violent. a lot of video games and movies are pretty violent witch i think have something to do with it with the younger generations.

I think that the enviroment that people are raised in doesnt have to do a whole lot with how a person can act. I have been to 3rd world countrys and there are children who live in the worst parts of the world and they still are some of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life. I think that if you dont have parents though that would be a huge factor in how you turn out. The way you are raised in the parenting aspect is a huge part of how you will turn out. I think that parents spoiling their kids is only gonna hurt the kids in the long run. Because if they get everything handed to them through out life they will constantly expect that for the rest of their lives. I think that gangs and gang activity has alot to do with the violence, but i definatley think that media has alot to do with violence. More or less i think that the video games has alot to do with it though. I think younger kids when exposed to the violent games think that this behavior is normal, when in reality it is not even close ot being normal and it just isnt good for children to see
