Can we improve hunting?

What is your opinion on hunting? Are some types of hunting better than others? Is trapping an ethical way of hunting? What animals need more hunting pressure than others? What do anti-hunters dislike about hunting? Are there ways of improving the practice of hunting? How can more people get interested in hunting? This is a good article on hunting and its impact to look at before answering these questions-----http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2007/11/hunters/poole-text.html

I personally don't hunt, although I grew up with some friends and extended family members that did hunt. I think hunting is overall cruel, but it is needed in cases of over population that leads to diseases and starvation. I don't think there is a good type of hunting. The only trapping I believe is okay is a cage type that catches them alive. Many animals need more hunting when they become too populated for the area they live in. Anti-hunters in my opinion simply don't like killing things or even just seeing something being killed. I don't think there is a way to improve the practice of hunting, except for maybe educating the hunters that are just going out to kill something on what the laws are. I believe hunting isn't as common as it once was because people are living in bigger cities now, so they don't have access to places to hunt or simply don't care or have the time for it.

I love hunting. I always went with my dad and my grandpa when they went deer hunting. That was the only hunting I have ever done. I believe that there are good ways and bad ways, yes, trapping is not a good way. I believe that takes out the fun of actually going hunting and being able to shoot a gun, or shoot a bow and arrow.
Some people do not like hunting because that is not right. They think that hunting is wrong and cruel. If that is the case, then why do they eat beef or pork. Meat is meat and they eat it. People had to hunt in order to survive in the old days.
If people think about it. If they learn to hunt, and take the meat off the animal, you wouldn't have go to the store and buy the meat that cost a lot. I mean we could be saving more money if we hunted ourselves.

I think hunting as a sport is diminishing, which makes me sad. I come from a long line of hunters, and have had the pleasure to hunt deer myself. There is nothing more exhilirating than finally getting a chance to take a shot at something you've been waiting for 4 hours on. While I do support hunting, I do not support trapping. Maybe I'm just uneducated about trapping, but from what I know it does not seem right. I suppose that anti-hunters are all members of PETA and support vegitarians. I myself, however, love steak and chicken and do not believe 'anti-hunters' should be given any consideration. Hunting has been around for centuries and hopefully it will remain for many more.

It's nothing wrong with hunting, they once way of life activite has just now turned into a sport. I would like to go fishing in the ocean with the intent to catch a large fish. Bear hunting would be fun as well. Yes trapping is fine, even though it takes all the excitement of getting the kill yourself. Anti-hunters dislike hunting because they think killing and animal is like killing a tree; it hurts our natural enviornment. Hunting is ok the way it is. The only thing you can improve on is the type of weapons you use. Hunting could be treatment or way of relief for someone who is a murder, or for just someone who has alot of stress. It's almost like playing a video game where you shoot people, it doing "it" without actually doing "it".

I really do not have an option on hunting.I know many people who do it. I think if a person follows the rules and remembers it can be a dangerous sport then it should be their own personal choose. I have a really good friend who loves to hunt and fish. He has taking my son fishing and asked if he can take him hunting for rabbits, but I have not yet decided if I will let him go. He is only 9 and a little wild, so I do not believe he is ready for the responsibility of firing a gun. My friend thinks it is a great way to teach kids responsibility under the right guidance.

i dont have a strong opinion one way or the other. i personally dont hunt just because of the fact i didnt directly grow up with any hunters but i would go hunting someday. if the people that are hunting do follow the rules and make sure they arent doing anything illegal then hunting is okay, but if it is something illegal then it isnt right. i think trapping is more of a problem control way or hunting rather then sport hunting. i took a class in high school where we learned all about trapping and the right ways to do it and once again if the people do it correctly then it is perfectly okay. there are definitley some animals that need more hunting pressure than others such as deer, opposums and raccoons. Deer because they over populate and they also inbreed and the off spring can have a lot of different problems. as for opposums and raccoons they are pests and we dont need them. i think more people could get interested in hunting if they learned a little about why it is beneficial and also if they actually tried it one time. i dont know too many people that go hunting once and never want to do it again unless they love animals too much.

My opinion of hunting is that I think its a great outdoor experience. Its a good way to get out there and explore nature and also gain a facinating amount of knowledge about the animals that are being hunted. I believe that animals were put on this earth for the sole purpose of enjoyment, hunting and eating. Ant-hunters probably cant handle the sight of dead animals and the thought of them getting hunted and trapped by hunters. But thats the circle of life, we live and die. I have a few friends that are passionate hunters, they contribute a lot of money a year by buying all sorts of ammo and guns and other hunting necessities which help pays for new public gaming ground and conserving wildlife. I think people shouldnt be so quick to judge the hunter. Instead of being full out against it maybe the anti-hunter should try to see the good that this is doing for our environment.

I don't hunt, but most of my family does or has at one point. I think that some hunting is necessary, in cases of overpopulation it is important. I know some people see it as a sport or whatever, but when we first started hunting it was so we could survive, we needed food and that was the way to get it. I don't see that there are any ways to improve hunting. I think that anti-hunters dislike hunting because you are taking somethings life.

HILLARY FEARS....Hunting in my opinion is very dumb. People spend all their time hunting an animal, to either take their fur off or put it on display in their living rooms. By trapping an animal in a cage, that is one way of hunting and should not be condoned at all. People hunt all the time. Not just one animal should just be given the praise for hunting, any animals are fair game. The things i think anti- hunters dislike about hunting is that the animals are usually stuffed and put on display, and another is that many are used for clothing or food. If people like to hunt that’s great. Many people enjoy hunting but ,if you want to be a skilled hunter ;maybe go to the library and look up different techniques or take a class about hunting.

I have gown up hunting and fishing my entire life, and I feel that it is all good as of now. The only I would change is allow deer to be hunted with rifles in teh state of Illinois. Hunting is a sport, it is a thrill and game that is a life time experience. If you do not hunt and think it is cruel, try to start and get into it, and youll never look back. It brings familys together, considering if been doing it with my grandpa since I was young. It is not only a sport, but also keeps wildlife balanced, considering you see how many deer cause accidents, or just thousands of geese in a field. It controls wildlife, fun sport, and puts food on the table. Also I think trapping is awesome. It is a thrill to check you traps, and take it to the locker and eventually to a fur trader, who will give you price ammounts on what its worth. Also usually trapping coyotes or raccoons that just cause a disturbence any way. Anti- hunters are crazy in my opinoin.

I have not personally hunted myself, unless you count fishing. I don't see the necessity for me to hunt. If others have to hunt for food, more power to them. But for those who hunt merely for sport, I feel that it is wrong. An animal should not be a mere trophy. If it is hunted, it should be eaten. As far as one method of hunting versus the other, in my opinion, the quiker the animal dies the better. Don't just play around with the animal and torture it. If your hunting, just kill it as quickly as you can. So if you are planning on hunting to eat, I am okay with the idea. But don't just kill innocent animals for your own pleasure.

I don’t hunt, but I having hunted in the passed, and see the fun in hunt I can see why people do hunt. Hunting does play a great roll in help control over population of a species, too. If a hunter was to stock there prey they are truly hunting. Compared to waiting for the pray to come to them. I have very loose ethics, so trapping is fine, but it not really hunting in my eyes. The deer in Illinois are a big problem. They are such a big problem that mountain loins have been released in Illinois to help with population control. I can only see problem happing from this. If more hunting was allowed, then mountain loins might not have been release into the wild. People that don’t like hunting don’t see much sport in the act, or they're a tree hugger. The tree huggers are very closed mined people and can’t like anything people do. They just like to fight for meaningless stuff. Hunting could be improved on, but I don’t know how. Possible having longer hunting season where it’s needed, and a shorter where hunting is not needed. Though comments could be use on the species that needed and don’t need anymore hunting.

I don't hunt personally but I grew up in a small town in southern Illinois where most people hunted. I believe hunting is not a problem as long as you do it all by all the laws in your state. Deer hunting is not a problem because their are strict laws on how many you can kill and what times of the year you can do it. It also helps from over-population from deer in this state. I don't believe that their is a need to improve hunting because their are already so many laws in place that keep control of the situation.

I don't care if someone goes out and hunt as long as they use the animal that they killed. I myself never went hunting, barely fished as a kid, and stayed away from turtle hunting or craw fishing. I never wanted to clean or gut anything plus felt there was plenty of food at the store. So other than shooting a gun for fun (I can just clay shoot for that)I wouldn't go out and hunt and wouldn't try to improve or convince anyone else to do it.

I think hunting is a fair sport to say. If the animal isn't close to being extincted then it is fine. Animals are getting killed anyways to be used for food so when they are used for a sport it doesn't make a big difference in my opinion. I really don't think they is a good way of hunting just as if the animal isn't close to being extincted like I said because we need to save those to have the diversity amount of animals roaming in the world. I have many friends that hunt and enjoy it but they said hunting has gone down in the past resent year which i don't keep up with it but I do know people enjoy it and it is a sport so why not do it.
