To birth or not to birth? That is the question.

Most people would agree that abortion is not an ideal choice in any situation, but do you believe that abortion must remain legal so that in the most unfortunate pregnancies (caused by rape or incest or when the mother is too young or when the mother's own health or life is endangered by carrying the baby) a woman can choose not to have the baby? In your opinion, what is more important--the right of the woman to choose what to do with her own body, or the right of the unborn fetus or embryo?

I actully do not favor abortion but it is a women's choice. There should be no legal or illegal thing about it. Opinions differ on whether the "fetus" is alive or not. Many say it is after like 3 days, who knows. I also so not think the goverment should have a say as well it's been legal for so long and nothing has changed about it. I do think the timing of when an abortion is preformed is very important. I think the goverment or laws should step in then the pregnancy is too far along in pregnancy. When the baby is already grow and developed it is then very wrong. Then it is considered killing. And as for reasons when it should be okay is when a women is raped or held against her will to have sex.

I do not like the idea of abortion, but should continue being legal for every woman of all ages. It should be free for every girl 16 and under. They are truly to young to care for a child. Women 17 through 21 should have a reduced price for the procedure. Every state should make it to where there shouldnt have to be any involvement with parents, if not wanted by the patient. Many cases of abortion are from just irresponsible young people that dont use protection. It should be illegal to get and abortion though after your 2/5 of your pregnancy. It to far along to kill the unborn child. If the woman is raped or has a baby concieved from incest or will case the woman harm then she should get rid of the child. Although someone may want to keep the child and if so should keep the child.

I think that the only time abortion should be allowed is if the pregnancy and/or birth is going to put the baby or mother at risk. For those who get pregnant too young or by someone who raped them and they do not want the baby there are other options. There are so many people out there that can't have babies but want them. Adoption is an easy way to go. You only have to take care of that child for those 9 months they are inside and then you can turn it over to someone and return back to your life. I do think that either way that you choose (adoption or abortion) you will never be the same. Knowing that you killed a child before it got to experience life will probably haunt you forever; unless you're some evil person with no heart. If you carry the baby to term and then give it away I think you will always feel a connection to that child.

i cant say that i am strictly for or against abortion, but i can say that it depends on the situation. for example if someone gets raped or anything of that nature, and they can prove that they really were raped, they should be able to get an abortion if it leads up to pregnancy. there are some girls out there that can claim that they got raped but they really didnt they just want people to feel sorry for them or something then they get an abortion. on the other hand if it is a girl and guy that are just being careless and using no kind of protection and she gets pregnant that is their own fault and they need to take the responsibility. there are so many different kinds of protection to use that there is no excuse why someone isnt using them. i mean there are many different places girls can get birth control without their parents knowing and also they can get it for free or just a few dollars a month. there are some women that they may just not be able to carry a child, so are people willing to let the mother and the child die or allow the woman to have an abortion and live. there are too many different situations behind abortion that i dont feel it should be illegal but there should be some limitations before someone can have one.

I am against abortion all the way. I do understand that cases of rape would definitely make a woman want to terminate the pregnancy. However, there are always other ways of handling a situation like that. There is always the option of putting the baby up for adoption after birth. Fortunately, I have never been in any situation like that so it is hard to say what I would actually want to do. I feel deeply for any woman who is put into a situation like that, and I wish that they would consider every option before they go straight for abortion. If abortion remained legal ONLY for cases such as that, I believe a lot of women would cheat the system and say that they were raped when really they were not. It is their body so it is a choice they must make for themselves.

I believe in abortion because of the reasons you mentioned in your question. It is also the womens choice. It's going to affect her life more than anyones. She shouldn't be scrutinized becausethe abortion isn't affecting anyone but her. The fetus isn't truly a human yet. Technically it might be but it hasn't really lived yet. John 9:00

I do agree with abortion not being the ideal choice but there are sertain sercomstances were abortion would be the only choice. For instance, like you said, if a woumen gets raped or held against her own will, then she should have the right to have an abortion. If a women gets pregnant from having sex and not being safe, then she should not have the right for abortion, because she could have done something to prevent herself from getting pregnant.

I personally do not agree with abortion at all, but i can see in certain situations (rape and unwanted sex) taht it is what needs to be done. The mental torment of carrying the bastard child of some man who raped you would be so unbelievably hard. I do not agree that aborttion should be used at any other time than horrible situations. If you are mature enough to have sex and take part in that action, then you should be mature enough to take the proper precautions (condoms birth control, etc.). If you mature enough to run to the store and buy some rubbers than i dont think that you should even be having sex in the first place. I dont think that sex is just some sort of action, it is a responsibility and shouldn't be taken very lightly.

To me Abortion is murder. I think that if the mother is too young, it's their fault for having sex at a young age. For the health for the baby, or the mother, they should have gotten medical assistance. They can be monitored all the time during their pregnancy. As I said, it's murder and should never be an option. Give the child a chance in life. They did nothing wrong, they shouldn't suffer for what happens.

It should be the choice of the person if they want to get an abortion. We are giving rights to make choices in this country. Just because many people do not believe in abortion, does that make it right for someone who does not even know you to make a life changing decision for you? You ask what is more important-- the right of the women to choose or the right of the unborn fetus? We know that the women has rights because we know she is a living breathing human being. But what is a fetus rights? Is it a living breathing person yet? That question has not been answered yet for me, so I have to say it is the womens right s that come first.

I believe that abortion does not need to be ruled on, whether it be legal or illegal. I am a firm believer that it is the mother's body, and the mother's choice. In any case, whether it be harmful to the mother's health or caused by rape, or just plain unprotected underage sex, I do not think that abortion should be illegal.

I think to combat abortion, we need better sex education. It seems that abstinence is preached more than safe sex, and it seems like sex among high school students is not talked about, like it is in the dark. I think that if more younger kids are targetted by sex education, then the teen pregnancies and abortions would drop significantly.

Yeah I think that it should remain legal. There are some cases where it is necessary to have an abortion. I personally don't agree with doing it, but it should be the womans choice to do it. I don't think it should be used as a form of birth control, but in cases of rape, or it being pregnant is going to be harmful to the mother then that woman should have the right to choose to end the pregnancy. Although even in cases of rape, the woman still has other choices instead of abortion, there is always adoption. But it should still be that womans choice.

I think abortion is only okay in certain cases like rape or if the mothers life is in danger. People need to think about what they are doing when the have sex. There a many different kinds of birth control out there for the asking. With all the different kinds of birth control there shouldn't be the need for alot of the abortion cases out there now. I also think some of the abortions are caused by alcohol and drug abuse, when people go to parties they also need to think about whats going to happen if they get too drunk or wasted to remember what they did.

I feel that abortion is stupid. What if you were abort? People say its just the embryo and not an actually living person, but it is. How are you going to do that to someone? And not even give that baby a future and the same chances at life that you had. I think you need to mature about it and relize that the right and christian thing to do would be to keep the baby.

I BELIEVE THAT ABORTION SHOULD STILL REMAIN LEGAL.MY FRIEND LUCILLE JUST FOUND OUT THAT SHE IS PREGNANT AND IS DEEPLY IN DEBT A STUDENT AND CANNOT AFFORD A BABY RIGHT NOW. SHE IS STILL PREGNANT AS WE SPEAK. SHE HAS MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE AN ABORTION DOCTOR AND SPEAK TO HIM ABOUT HER SITUATION. A WOMAN HAS THE RIGHT TO MAKE AN DECISION THAT SHE THINKS US BEST FOR HERSELF, AS WELL AS THE FETUS. IT TAKES MONEY TO TAKE CARE OF A CHILD AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT HOW ARE YOU OR EVEN THR CHILD GOING TO SURVIVE. SO ITHINK THAT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE WOMAN TO DO WHAT HE BELIEVES IS BEST.

I think that abortion should only remain legal for the unfortunate pregnancies such as rape, incest, health issues of the mother.I am very against people having abortions otherwise. I am against it simply for the fact that women who get pregnant should have to deal with the consequences of their actions--with exception of those above--and should have been more careful in trying to prevent the unwanted pregnancy. If women dont want to have the baby they can always have it and give it to a mother who cant have kids, or a family who wants to adopt. I think that the embryo has the right to live, it wasnt its fault for coming into this world and it deserves a chance at life.

I do think that in exetreme cases that a woman should have the choice of abortion. If a mother's life is endagered then that is up to the woman also, if the mother dies will the child have the stabilaty to be raised in her absence? Personally, I rather see the child born then put up for adoption than aborted. After all they didn't asked to be born.

I really do not believe in abortion. It is wrong in any situation I believe even if a girl is raped there's always options and alternatives to this, like putting it up for adoption. I think I strongly stick to being against abortion because it's in my catholic religion to not be for it and I've been taught to have this opinion against abortion since I've been growing up. I understand ALL the possible cases that a person want to have a abortion but it's murder I believe and that's what I will stick to.
