What does the word "abortion" mean to you? When is an abortion okay, and when is it not? Do you think abortion should be legal or illegal? Do you think the government should be able to make decisions for pregnant women, or should they mind their own business?

I think that an abortion is not okay and also I think that having an abortion should be illegal. By having an abortion the mother is saying that the baby was a mistake and that she does not want to keep the baby. If the government makes the decisions for the pregnant woman, then they are taking away the woman's rights but they should try and find a way to make abortion illegal to some degree. By abortion being leagal, it is saying that it is perfectly normal to take away the life of an unborn child.

I believe that every women should have a choice when it comes to having a child. I believe that abortion should be legal and I truely believe that the government should just stay out of it. Imagine if you were raped by a stranger, and then you became pregnant, would you really want to have that baby? Everyday of your life that baby would remind you of that horrible event in your life. What would you say to that child when they were old enough to ask who their father was? Also what if you protected yourself but you still got pregnant, and you feel as if you are not ready or responsible enough to have a child, would you really want that child to have a horrible child hood if you could not raise it properly or in the best conditions? Abortion should be a choice that women should be able to make for themselves!

Im a believer in LIFE. I believe that having an abortion is taking away someones opppurtunity to chose life and how they plan to live it. There are many situations as to why some women get abortions and from all the excuses Ive heard none seem circunstantial enough to justify taking the life of a child. A friend of mine said i had to get one because I didnt want my child to go through the hard childhood that i went through. I think if thats the case you should have taken the precautions that are available to prevent you from having to make that decision. I have heard what if a woman was raped. Then this is her chance to change a negative into a positive. She doesnt have to keep it as far as raising the child she can give it up for adoption. But by killing it she is basically doing what tyhe rapist did. She is raping this child of LIFE. We live in a society where people go to jail everyday for murder, Where children in school go to counseling for writing short stories where they speak about murdering someone, where teens go on killing rampages through schools when life becomes to unbearable, and in this same society a women can choose if a human being does not fit into the picture of LIFE at all and take their life away...
I think that it should be up to the mother. Its her child and her body to do what she wants with it. YOur not acually born until the baby comes out right? Lets say the someone were to rape your sister and she was to young to take care of it and not only that, she doesnt want to go through with the baby not having a father all of his life. Its unfair to the unborn child but also unfair for the women. The government should not have no say in this what so ever and should mind there own business in my opinion. final answer abortion should def be legal.

When I hear the word abortion, the word ABORT sticks out. Anytime I have played a video game got too hard, to quit the option you would have to select would be ABORT. It is simply taking the easy way out.
I believe that an abortion is only okay is one situation: the mother is in danger.
If I were to pull a gun and shoot a person downtown, I would go to jail. When a doctor performs an abortion, he is killing a baby. Abortion should be illegal.
This is a toughy. While each abortion case is uniqely different, it is murder. I think I have to go with the government because no matter how hard the situation is, that baby is not getting a fair shot at life. The mother, when getting an abortion, is telling her child that she doesn't love them, want to see them, or hear of them ever again.
I feel abortion is ok in some situations, but if just doing so with know thought behind it or jus to be cruel I dont agree. Sometimes these young girls or faced with get rid of it, or have it but you cant live at home any more. Maybe finaical situation and cant afford to take care of anyone else. Sometimes its tough when you have no support regardless of how bad you may want to keep the baby. In the only choice you have is get rid of it. Then you could go to a girls home and still have to struggle and worry about your baby being tooking. I would never suggest having abortion to anyone, it always helps to tell a person how your feeling about the situation and what your going through. Again in certain situation I feel its ok.

I do not think that abortions should be illegal, as it should be out of the governments hands on what a woman wants to do with her baby. The reasonings for making it illegal are mostly based on religion, or at least for the strong anti-abortionists, in which will not cater to everyones beliefs. Therefore, it is completely biased to base a law off of a religions beliefs. Also, a woman could be pregnant under circumstances that were out of her hands like if a woman were raped. I do not think it is under anyones jurisdiction to say that the woman must keep the baby, especially under those horrible circumstances. Prohibition is an example of why banning something so widespread does not work. There will always be underground places, which will allow a women to get an abortion even with it being illegal.

Abortion is not a word I take lightly. I do think it is wrong to abort unborn children because it was not there fault that they were conceived. I do think though that abortion is okay when i person is raped or forced to do something against their will, such as molestation. Some doctors even encourage abortion when they find a specific complication with the mother or child something of course that is very dangerous. I think it should still be legal, at the end of the day I think it is the mothers decision weather its right or wrong. I think the government should mind their own business.

To me, the word abortion means the removal of an unborn fetus from a female's womb. I believe that abortions are okay in cases where the female was raped and in cases where the couple took the necessary measures to prevent pregnancy, but due to a malfunction in prevention device, they got pregnant anyway. It is not okay when the couple was irresponsible and were not cautious when having sex or when they don't want to have the baby just due to embarassment or just deciding thay they don't want to support it. I think that abortion should remain legal because, ultimately, it is the female's right to decide. The government should not interfere in these very personal matters because it is the woman who will have to carry the baby for nine months and go through the pain and suffering of pregnancy, not them.
Abortion, to me, simply means that a female decided she didn't want to be pregnant and had whatever unborn fetus(es) removed. As far as I can see, there aren't very many cases where I'd think of an abortion as being 'not okay', but those are exceptionally unusual circumstances (along the lines of getting an abortion so your significant other doesn't find out about your affair(s)), but in cases where the parents don't think they can support the potential baby financially or emotionally, or where the pregnancy was entirely unplanned, etc. I don't think abortion should be illegal: if you believe it's morally wrong, fine, don't push your beliefs on women who are prepared to do what they believe needs to be done. And so long as the government isn't paying anything for anyone's healthcare, they shouldn't be telling others what is medically sound or unsound.

The word abortion means to me the ending the possibly that a fetus can change into a baby. I see nothing wrong with abortion, as long as it’s still a fetus. When partial birth abortion are wrong. The only time a partial birth abortion is ok is if it needs to be done to save the expecting mother life. Abortion should be legal for anyone over the age of 18teen. If a child would like to have an abortion they need to have a parent with them. The government needs to stay out of Americans lives as much as possible. I don’t have to many thoughts on the topic, but if I got someone pregnant I would have an abortion.

The word abortion to me means murder. It doesnt matter how far along you are in your pregnancy that baby is alive. The only time I could see abortion being ok is if a woman was raped and got pregnant, or in cases where it would be more harmful to the mother to continue with the pregnancy. I think it should be legal, but it shouldn't be used as a form of birth control. I dont think the government should get involved, it should be the mothers decision on what she wants to do.
Abortion is not murder. Currently legal abortion is getting rid of a cluster of cells which are not viable outside of their current environment - that being a viable and sapient human being, who has a current right to their own life they way they want it to be.
Foetuses are a human being in potential. If a currently living human, upon whose body the foetus' survival is dependent, makes the decision to deny that potential human life, then we should all respect that choice for what it is - a choice.
I THINK THAT THE ONLY TIME ABORTION IS ACCEPTABLE IS WHEN THERE IS A POSSIBLE LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION. IT SHOULD BE LEFT UP TO THE PARENTS. BUT IF A DOCTOR TELLS YOU THAT YOUR CHILD WILL NEVER BE NORMAL, BUT DEFORMED AND WOULD HAVE TO SUFFER ITS ENTIRE LIFE AND WOULD PROBABLY DIE SHORTLY, THEN IF U CHOOSE TO, THEN I THINK IT SHOULD BE OKAY. I DONT HAVE A STRONG FEELING ON WETHER ITY SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT BE LEGALIZED.

I think that abortion is ok in certain circumstances. If you get raped or if you get pregnant under horrible circumstances I think that abortion is ok. It is unfortunate because babies can feel pain in the womb. Imagine being able to feel your brains being sucked out of your skull! I think that too many people have abortions for the wrong reasons. Many people can't have children and are want to adopt. If the baby will have a certain birth defect that is life threatening then I think the life should be terminated, but not just because people are too ignorant to use birth control!
The word "abortion" in my opinion is when a mother kills their child before they even nearly developed into anything. personally i dont really think it is okay for people to result in abortion, but i do understand why some people would consider it. If a mother is not ready for a child or just way to young to have a child abortion might be the only choice. i don't think that the government should be able to make any decisions whether a woman want to have a abortion or not, they should have no say in it. If a pregnant woman want to have an abortion no one should have a right to tell she cant, except maybe the father of the child.

When I hear abortion, I think of murder. I believe that you are killing something that was made by 2 people. The only time I think abortion could be ok is , if you get raped, or incest. That is the only time. I think if you do get raped, and you knew the person wanted in your pants so to speak, then you should have told him to keep the paws off. For family members, if there was even a hint, you should have told someone. The government has no right to make decisions for the women. It is the women's choice. If you are a young teen and get pregnant, if they think they are old enough to have sex, they should deal with the consequence with a baby. I think they shouldn't have an abortion. It's their fault and they should deal with it.

Abortion is only okay in my opinion when the mother has been raped. If there is incested it would also be okay. And if the mother's life is in danger when carrying the fetus full term. I think the government should stay out of people's personal lifes. The government probably won't step in unless there is an objection by someone involved.
After being in a private Catholic school for 12 years I have been taught to be anti-abortion. But after much thought it is up to the mother because it is her body and essentially her baby. Mostly when people get abortions its because of rape or a similar problem. Although I said I was pro-choice I believe that it should only be in the first month because if it is any later I believe that it is considered murder. I don't believe a mother should be scrutinized for getting an abortion because everyone makes mistakes. Who are we to judge someone else?

I really do not believe in abortion. It is wrong in any situation I believe even if a girl is raped there's always options and alternatives to this, like putting it up for adoption. I think I strongly stick to being against abortion because it's in my catholic religion to not be for it and I've been taught to have this opinion against abortion since I've been growing up. I understand ALL the possible cases that a person want to have a abortion but it's murder I believe and that's what I will stick to.

The word abortion in my mind is horrible. I do not see how anyone can just get rid of their child. Just because it is inside of the womb doesn't mean that it isn't anything. That is your baby and it deserves a life. An abortion is never okay. It should be illegal to have one. I don't think that any women should have the right to get rid of their child. They are the one who had sex so they should take on the responsibility and raise their child.

i believe that abortion should be illegal, except for babies that were conceived in a forced crime. victims of rape should be the only legally able to get an abortion. but personally i believe that abortion is wrong in any context, you are taking a child's life, that is no different than murder.
I think it is only okay in some situations like if the girl gets raped or something like that. Sometimes a girl is about to have a baby and they cant even take care of themselves so they dont want to bring a new life into that type of environment. I dont think it is okay to know that you need to use a condom but just dont want to and keep having abortions just beacsue you know that you can.

I feel that if a women is not responsible enough for her sexual actions and gets pregnant then decides to use abortion as her birth-control method-thats morally wrong! The baby was not at fault,it was the parents. Thier are many people they would adopt kids,so the mother should at least give the baby a shot at life,that baby could be somebody great,a leader,instead of killing the baby -give the baby a chance.
Now if the girl got raped by her father or another family relative-then she should consider abortion. If the girl was raped,I think then its okay.
