What system works the worst?

What is Wrong with America?

Most of our national systems don't seem to work nearly as well as they could. The education system is failing; the welfare program is riddled with abuse; the justice and penal systems are seriously flawed in many ways; we have no working national health care system; social security is heading into trouble; our political system wastes millions and millions of dollars every election year and still results in weak presidents; our national debt has skyrocketed; more and more people are homeless, with more families than ever living on the street; we can't come up with an immigration policy that works; the rich get richer while the poor get poorer; violent crime is still rampant in all big cities.

Of all that appears to be wrong with our society, which system do you think is the worst, and why? How did we get this way? How can we get out? Can you name even one system that works as well as it ought to?

Thanks for your help!

What is wrong with America?
Our endless appeals system
Do i think that the laws contradict themselves? yes
I the justice system fair for everybody? O.J. Simpson...
Do i think George Bush is a good leader? Hes awesome, maybe not the greatest leader though.
Who do i believe can lead us in the next race for president? John Mccain
What are we doing thats right? Democracy
Fix the flaws in our system first? Its impossible to have a perfect government, so we will just have to try and fix problems as the come.
In my view, there are tons of problems that i could just list off, but what good will that do? Ill just be another american whining about whats wrong with the country. I would rather not.

The worst in my opinion is probably healthcare. With the cost of going to the doctor sky high, coupled with the very high cost of health insurance, it's no wonder many people can't afford to see a doctor. I really don't understand how it got this bad. I think a national healthcare system would probably help many of the people with the cost of seeing a doctor or help with perscriptions. Right now it seems social security is doing the best of the agencys listed here in my opinion, but it has its share of problems too.

I think the worse that you named would have to be the education system failing .I feel this way because i see it everyday. I see how the children our being left out on their education. These kids need to know all the skills they can so they can succeed in tommorws upcoming generation, but the education system has become a joke and only a babysitter for some parents to send their kids too. I remember when i was a child and i loved to go to school, now adays schools arent safe and kids are given different advantages and disadvantages becasuse of the color of their skin. I think that schools now a day need a real eye opener to what kids really need and thats love and a true educator that really wants to help students and be a role model.Help kids to become better not just pass them to the next level because they have too. If the child doesnt have the skills then hold him or her back to help them, teach them, and take the time to do their job.

Our education system may be doing well in some schools/areas but in a large number of communities it is drastically failing. Schools don't have good enough teachers and leaders to halp children in need. A good number of students in schools today live in broken homes where they may have problems knowing wrong from right, or even if their mom or dad love them or not. This, I think, plays the biggest part in the failure of the education system.
If students are constantly like this and they don't get the right kind of help from their teachers and other school workers or even their parents and relatives; how do we expect the system to improve? These students are the ones that are becoming teachers later on down the road. Now, I know there are many students out there that have either overcome the brokenness or are overcoming as we speak, but right now, teachers are out there leaving bad influences on students as well as the parents are.
Sometimes it seems like schools are saying that they care more and more everyday but yet, they appear not to care when a student is in need of help. That is just plain wrong.
This world is so messed up right now, I don't know if there's even one system that works through our government and other leadership positions.

What’s wrong with America? Well, I thing it does seem that most of our national systems don’t seem to work well. This is because the government runs them. We live in America not the former U.S.S.R. not most private organization run much well than the government run organization. Look at the heath care system through out the world. Canada for example has national health care. This seem good at first, but if you need an CT scan you will have to go onto a waiting list you might die before you can get that MRI. In America for example if you need that CT scan you can go down the hall and get one right away. It’s true the education system is failing in some places, but not everywhere. You go to Parkland College this school is paid for by taxpayer in Champaign County. Do you think Parkland College is a failing school? Did you know that Parkland is the 3rd best junior collage in America? The welfare program does need work. There are many very lazy people in America and they think that the government needs to help them continue to be lazy. I don’t know away that would fix this problem. Some might say more laws, but if the laws that we have been enforced more this could solve the problem. The prison system is not a rehabilitation place for criminals. I think it’s a school for criminals. There needs to be a better system. One of the first things that need to be fixed is getting rid of mandatory minimum sentences. I think I said how I feel about a national health care system. Hey, did you know that some county have free health care. Champaign County is one of the counties that this exists in. If you go to the McKinley center you can get looked at for free. Social security is headed for troubled, because some of are government leader have drained it. President Clinton was one of the people that hurt the system extremely bad. Our political system wastes millions and millions of dollars every election year and still results in weak presidents. I’m not going to say anything on this statement, except this is a bad question. Our national debt has skyrocketed this is true. One of the biggest reason is because are leader are spending money we don’t have. There has been so much inflation over the passed few years; this comes from printing money we don’t have. The American dollar is at an all time low. One dollar of is only where 50cents of the Bahrain Bhatt. I have no dough that China money is much more powerful then our, we are barrowing money from them to print more. To me you sound like you might like a national health care program. How would we pay for it? Raise taxes how about the government taking 50% or more of your paycheck. The only way to solve this problem is to stop spending money. If we get stop having the government run different organization this might help solve the problem. We have come up with many ways to stop immigration, but we have organization like the ACLU that would like to destroy America. OK, I’m done I hope you can get something out of my comment.

We are a nation of self indulgent babies. We want instant credit and a free ride for everything. No one is taking the time anymore to learn about the politicians that run this country, so it is no wonder that all the systems you asked about are failing. The presidents we elect are elected on popularity not on merit. If we want change in this country every individual needs to take a few minutes of their day and get educated on some of these subjects and not listen to 10 minutes of the news and think they know what is going on in this world.

I will try to answer these questions in order. I would argue with the statement that the education system is failing, people in America are more educated then ever, and there are more people with a bachelor’s degree then ever before. The welfare program is abused because of a simple social problem; people become accustomed to receiving checks for doing nothing so they continue to seek these checks. What flaws. We don’t have a working national health care system because we are not a socialist European country, citizens will simply not stand to pay the ridicules taxes to fund such a system. Social security is flawed in a way that cannot be fixed, because of population boom aka the baby boomers there are only two or three people paying social security for each benefactor, this system will problem collapse. Who judges this as waste, also who gets to judge who’s a weak president? Our nation has been in debt since the sixties I don’t know how you would fix that. I don’t know where you get the info that more people are homeless, but it is problem because they are two lazy to get a job. As for immigration we don’t need more laws, we need more enforcement. People make money because the work hard and move up in life, some people fall on bad luck but generally poor people are poor because they are lazy. Violent crime runs rampant because they outlaw concealed carry, to reintroduce this concept would decrease crime. I think what really wrong with this county is people always thinking there is something wrong with this country. Where’s American pride, we live in the greatest country in the world and all people do is bitch about it.

I believe the problem with America is welfare. Most of the people who get checks are just too lazy to get a job ... and who would blame them if they're getting money for doing nothing. I realize some people need welfare and I'm not opposed to that. I believe we need to do a better job of finding out who actually needs welfare checks (like people who are unable to work for one reason or another) and people who are just getting "free" money. I use to work at a grocery store and I would see countless people use welfare checks then walk out to a brand new Cadillac or a new car with some expensive rims on it. I believe the money we give to these people that are too lazy to work can be used for healthcare, education, or even getting rid of some of the nations debt.

i think as far as the government goes most of the younger people are not educated as much as they should be. it would help a great deal if they were. As far as education goes i think that its out there for those you want to take it serious and those that dont, dont. i wish the two crowds werent mooshed into one but thats they way it works out. i think us buying all the things that we buy from over seas is really hurting this country. i mean you cant pick up anything that says american made on it. who is this helping cause its definitly not helping us. I agree with the health care being messed up but with our country so far in dept who would be able to pay the docters if we didnt have insurance companies to pay for it. Every government has its flaws and i think compared to all the other nations we arent doing so bad.

I would say that the way the welfare system is set up it is the largest problem in our society. The welfare system does the worst job because it has so many angles to recieve the benefits. It encourages single mothers not to work, but to keep having children just to get more money. There are also hundreds of thousands of people that rip off the welfare system even when they don't need it. I think we could get out of this problem by tightening up the guidelines for recieving it, so that the people that really need it can get the help they need. In any system its likely that it won't work out as well as planned. The education system has done a decent job. There too many things that are not preventable in the education system- kids not going to school, not caring, etc. So, I wouldnt say its completely failing.
