President Bush -- a victim of the press?

Do you think that George Walker Bush is truly a terrible president, or is he overly vilified by the media? If the media is too hard on him, what caused this to happen?

thanks!

In my opinion George Bush is a good president, I think he has had some people on his staff give him bad information. His decision on Iraq will make him look both good and bad in future history books. I think after 9/11 he almost had to do something and it looked great at the time, but as time goes on with the loss of lives and the overall cost of the war, it will look very bad in the eyes of historians. The press is always looking for something to drag out over a long period of time and with the election focused on withdrawing our troops. It's good for the news media to make him look bad, I think this is one reason his is looking so bad in the surveys the news talks about.

I belive George Bush is an okay president. With all of the crucial events that has occured since 9/11the media has been focused on him for a while now. Everytime I turn on the television, I notice that there are more negative things that he has done than positive. When the media finds out things, it's important that they "expound" on the situation. I think what has really gave Bush a bad image as president is sending the troops over seas to fight. I think he could have made better a decision when it came to that.

I think Bush is both a good and a horrible president. He is a good president, because he handle 9/11 very professionally, he is also not very concerned with how the media portraits him. What I mean by this is no madder what his opinion is. He will stick to his point of view, despite the other peoples opinions of things. To confirm this you can look at how popular the war is right now, and/or his approval rating.
I think Bush is horrible, because he has promoted American company to out sore its supply. He is helping to destroy this country by having illegal immigrants in this country. To me it seems that Bush is trying to create an America union. This is similar the Europe Union, with no set boarder between the countries. Bush is also borrowing money from other country, at an unheard amount. By the action of borrowing money he is destroying the valve of the US dollar. Having the US dollar destroy will affect America drastically, and I hope it will recover from this blow. In my opinion by have the value of the US dollar be affected, so must is the worst thing that Bush has helped create.

i dont really pay too much attention to politics or the president so i dont really have much to say about george bush. from what i do know though is that he handled 9/11 as good as anyone else may have. being the president has got to be a stressful job, knowing that you are in charge of a whole country cant be an easy job. when things happen with no warning everybody acts quickly and what they do may not be the right things and it may not be what other people would have done, but you do what you have to do, and george bush has done just that. people and the media always judge other people and any president can be judged by what they did while they were in office, but nobody is perfect and nobody else knows what they personally would do if they were in the presidents situation. i think george bush is an okay president there have been worse and there have been better, i guess i cant complain too much since i dont know too much about him.

i think that George Bush is not a good president at all. Everything has been going crazy ever since he took the chair. First of all, how many recount douse florida and texas have to do, i mean seriously come on. He made him self president. Also the 9/11 thing was all set up. There were so many people that did not show up to work at the twin towers that day and when they informed Bush about it, it seemed like he didnt care. Also all the things that you hear on the news about what is going on over seas is not true, i know a lot of people that went over seas and almost everything that they say on the news is a lie. look at news from Honduras or any country that is not really taking sides. all in all, i dont think that president bush was a good one.

Peoples opinions on George can very so much, mainly because he has done some good things for america and some not so good things. The main thing i would have to say why people dont like him is because of the war. Some people would say he had nothing else to do but make the decision to go to war and others would not agree. Personally i have been affected by the war, I have lost a very close friend and had another severly injured due to this war. So for me it is hard to agree with a man that keeps this war going and it also makes it very hard for me to see past all his faults. Having this war going on so long and having many people lose loved ones can make them feel very bitter towards the man "in charge" of this war. Another thing to take into consideration is that he is letting The United States now become filled with illegal immigrants which is also hurting many peoples opinions on him

In my opinion, George Bush is not a terrible president, nor is he a great president.
Almost everyone who says they dislike Bush say this because of the war. Either they dont like war, have family members who get sent overseas. While I agree the war is a huge problem, it is not however the reason that makes a president good or bad.

While he may not have a perfect handle on our war, he however has not done anything bad in the way of laws, bills, and other presidential matters.

A president cannot be gauged on his effect on the economy until the next presidency or even the one after that. Therefore, Bush will not get his biggest praise or criticism for up to 10 years.

As far as I’m concerned George Bush is an alright president. I really don’t follow politics like I should but many people will have their options about him. It just depends who the person is that judges him, I mean of course the media is going to attack him, but that goes for anybody that is in the spot light. Some people judge him because he decided to go to war, many agree on it and many don’t s. I do think he did handle the 9-11 situation fairly well, even though it ended up in war, he conducted himself in a great matter. This world is always going to critiquing someone and it’s not surprising that it’s the man in charge on the United States that has a very hard decision making job, many people couldn’t do this job like he is.

I don't know a whole lot about what he has done right or wrong but I do know he says a lot of things to be made fun of. Everyone wants to see someone make a mistake and the media does a good job of letting people know about his bloopers. As far as the war, I think we have been their too long and we could have accomplished our task a while agao but I dont blame the President for going to war, he's just dragging it out which is wrong.

George W. Bush is the 2nd tightest president right behind Bill Clinton. Obviously the man is kind of dumb, and makes some bad decisions when it comes to the country, but name we one president that hasnt made a mistake in office. I think the media is pretty tough on him, but he is a grown man, so he can take it. I really dont think he cares too much about what the media thinks of him, after all hes in the oval office making half a mil a year, running the country... what is the media doing?

Anonymous said...

Yes I think George Walker Bush is a bad president. He has been in the oval office for almost 8 years and has lead this country down a very rough path. I think the media only reports on the negative about any person anymore. Negative is money it seems like these days. Bush has been a politician all of his adult life. He should know his decisions are not going to be like by all the people. His first four years was spend walking a line to get re-elected for a second term, and the last four years have been sit waiting for them to get over. He is also a president that lead this country into a war. That in it's self will always be a black mark against him.

I don't think he is a truly terrible president, we have had worse, and we have had better presidents. I think that he has made a few bad decisions. Including the war, and keeping the troops over there as long as he has. The media has been hard on him, but anytime someone important does anything, the media is there to glorify or harrass that person.

I think that George Bush has definately made some funny mistakes on many of his speeches. As far as if he is a terrible president or not, who really can do much good? No one so far has been a perfect president and no man or woman will ever be in my opinion. As far as whether or not he deserves as much negative attention as he does, maybe he deserves it. If he didn't give people a reason to poke fun at him so many times, this probably would not have happened.

I personally think that George Bush is a good president. I mean what has he done wrong. I look at it as, my life right now is great and I wouldnt have it any other way. The press just looks at the people who struggle because they dont put effort to life and work priorities, and that makes Bush like the bad guy. But I dont deal with politics much but like Bush as a president.

Honestly, I dont have a clue. I don't follow politics. I do think that in the beginning he was trying his best to get us through 9/11 but then it started looking bad to some people. I do think that the media drags things out too far. Not just with President Bush but with anything in the media.

Anonymous said...

I don't believe he is a bad president. He has done what he thinks is right for the country. The only reason he is hated by most is because the troops have been in Iraq for a long period of time. Also some believe that the 9/11 occurence was a conspiracy and believe he had something to do with it. While the U.S. complains about him being such a horrible president, you have to remember he is still just a man. He has been catch on TV doing and saying some stupid stuff, but what president hasn't. He can't be that bad if he was re-elected to presidency.

English student said...

Sure George W. Bush is unliked because of the war, but how many of those people who are hating on him for the war were waving American flags back in 2003 when we first went in? A lot of opinions can change in 5 years of wartime, especially with an atypical war such as this, where the outcome will not be ground taken or ground lost, where victory is measured in uncertain terms. I support George W. Bush's idea on war, however I think his administration has failed him in certain areas, and he is ultimately responsible for that. To finance this war, we have been selling bonds, essentially selling part of our country to China and other countries with huge economies. Also our dollar has been inflated and lost a lot of value. Overall, I support George W. Bush the same as I would support and average president, neither good nor bad, he's just a politician with a public speaking problem.

I don't think Bush is a terrible president. He's handling everything decently, but he could be doing better. Soldiers in Iraq don't even have proper equipment! I think that whoever the president is will be attacked by the media. It makes people interested and gets them excited.

English student said...

I think he is a good president. He is trying to keep us from having more trouble like 9-11. The media makes him out to being horrible when he really isn't. He's better than what we have had before. I really don't follow politics. I don't pay attention to a lot of stuff in general. I think people are hard on him, people expect a lot out of him. In my opinion, if they think he is a horrible president, maybe they should get up and be in his shoes for a week or two. See how it is. If they don't want to do that, then they have no room to talk. They should just keep their mouth shut unless they want to step in.

President Bush has become a easy target for media and comics everywhere. 9/11 happened and he made a choice off of the info he had. I don't think he made the right choices for all the branches he filled to back him. the organation and leadership didn't seem to link up right. Then N.O. gets hit by Katrina and chaos strikes. Nobody has a clue what to do and U.S. forces are already stressed from the war. There fore another reason to start Bush bashing. North Korea trying to up the ante by going nuclear, more problems on a over loaded plate. The worst of it all is now it is hitting home foreclosures, layoffs, and a possible resession all are putting the sqeeze on day to day living. People want to know why and the media needs a villan, so blame our commander in chief. He's already on most hit list. With all that has happend in the past two terms, I'm not sure if any other President would of done better or worse.

Terrible president. Polarizing, arrogant, closed-minded, spoiled rotten, out of touch, stubborn . . . and his brain doesn't click well. He's not sharp.

He has taken us in the wrong direction since day 1. Then he rejoiced in 911 because his approval rating was so bad that he needed to wage a war to become popular again. Pathetic. Look where that's taken us. He said the war would cost $80 billion and be over in a year and a half; 5 years later, we've spent well over $400 billion and are wasting more every day. Good god, I'd spit on the man's shoes except I know I'd be waterboarded for it.

Good riddance.

Yes, I do think that George W. Bush really is a bad president and he might be ridiculed too much for petty things that don't matter too much, but he is not overly villified by the general media. First of all, there are democratic and republican, conservative and liberal factions of the media so there is a lot of negative press, but also some positive press about President Bush. The facts are that his approval rating is really low and this because people truly do not approve of the job he is doing as president. He was never qualified to be president in the first place and is only in office because of his father. The only reason even some of his policies or some actions taken by his administration have had some success are because they were drafted by people in his cabinet, not by him personally. I believe that he pushed this war on the country and was the main supporter of the idea, for the wrong reasons, and because of this, he should be villified. Under his presidency, the economy has crumbled, the deficit has grown, the rest of the world dislikes America more and more, and even American citizens disapprove of what their own country is doing. So, I don't think the media is too harsh on him and I think that he deserves to be criticized and called one of the worst presidents that we've had.

I think he is a horrible president and is never a victim of the press. He has do nothing but ruin the country since he has gotten into office. He is just a president worring about his self. He doesnt care what heppens to anybody at all. He sends people to war so quick but was scared when he was suppose to go back in the day.

President Bush is a good president. He has kept our country safe since 9/11. As far as the economy.....you have to go all the way back to Presidents Carter and Clinton and read the policies they had that started this whole business in the mortgage/housing business. Bush had nothing to do with it. If everyone read their history and learn how the government is run you would think twice about making slanderous remarks. The news media is so bias.....I know quite a few people that served in Iraq and they all say that everything the media says is a total and complete lie. America is going to **** in a hand basket like real quick. God help us all.
