Should college athletes be paid?
Do you think paying college athletes would affect the graduation rate? Higher or Lower?
Would athletes stick around for all 4 years of college?

Many college athletes have the college paid for with scholarships, I think that should be enough. It would probably affect the grades negatively, because they would be more focused on the money they were making rather than grades for something after college in case they were not drafted profesionaly. They probably would stick around for all four years, unless a profesional team wanted them for more money
I feel that college athletes should not be paid. I feel that college should be used to increase your brain power and to improve yourself. I think by paying college athletes, the graduation rate would be higher. Why quit your job if you're getting good pay? I think the only ones that would quit college would be the ones going pro, and that would not be very many.

No, college athletes should not get paid. College sports are an extracurricular activities just like they were in high school. I know college athletes have to spend a lot of time practicing and probably don't have a lot of extra time to work, but what about all the students on academic teams who also spend countless afternoons practicing and never even get noticed because their competitions never get televised. If college athletes got paid wouldn't it be only fair that those students got paid as well? I think paying college athletes would lower the graduation rate. The college would have to start spending more money and therfore have to increase tuition rates. This increase would mean that thousands of students could no longer afford to attend college. Sure, there would probably be in increase in the number of college athletes that graduate but this number would be irrelivent compared to the number of students who could no longer afford to attend.

Yes I do believe student athletes should be paid, however they should be paid depending on the amount of money that the sport they are playing brings in. If they play a sport that brings in much more money than it spends then they should be paid more than if their sport breaks even, they should also be able to choose wheather they want to be paid, or if they want to get a scholarship. I also believe that if they were paid that they would stay in college long enough to go through college. a large amount of student athletes drop sports and college due to expenses not covered by their scholarship.

No, i belive that college athletes should not be paid. If we start paying colledge athetes then people would be going to college to get money and not for what college is relly set up to do.
I belive that the graduation rate would not go up. students would be tying to stay in colledge for as long as possible so that they could recive more money.

I don't think that college athletes should be paid. The ones that are really good generally recieve scholarships to the school as compensation. The bottom line is that college athletes are still considered to be there for acedemic purposes which is why they are required to maintain a certain grade point average. I think that paying college athletes would encourage them to want to stay at that school longer which may cause the graduation rate to drop.

No, I don't think that college athletes should get paid. Most college athletes are playing on scholarships and that seems to be their form of pay in my perspective. I think they would stick around longer if they were making money and receiving a degree. Like I said, their scholarship is their form of pay in my perspective. However, if college athletes were paid, I think that the graduation rate would be higher.

I think they should be given a alowance of some sort. I don't really think it would effect the graduation rate because most of the athletes if good enough will go to the pros. regardless.
