Nick's Question

Should nuclear energy be used more in the United States and the world? Why or why not? Are you aware of the advantages and disadvantages of using nuclear energy? Do you know how nuclear energy can be used?

No. Nuclear energy should not be used. Although it may appear to solve some short term problems, the reality is that in the long term it creates more problems than it solves. Mainly this is the waste problem. Anything which involves dumping large amounts of radioactive waste underground cannot be a good idea.

I think Nuclear Energy is going to be part of our future in some manner. It is well monitored now and people are less afraid of the consequences. One big disadvantage is the cooling rods and what to do with them. It takes centures for them to break down. Electricity is the largest advantage.

Hi, Nick. I wish I knew enough to respond with intelligence, but I'd have to say that no, nuclear energy should not be used more than it already is. From what little I understand, a nuclear life outlives the lives of most other matter, and I don't think we should be leaving behind this potentially dangerous material for our children to deal with down the road. We've done enough damage as it is.

i dont think nuclear energy should be used more in the united states because it causes damge to our environment and without our environment how will we survive. Although i do not know a lot on nuclear energy i can say that anything that has the word "nuclear" in it cannot be a good thing. leah perdue

I think that nuclear energy is a wonderful source of energy. I think America needs to use more of it and build a 2nd unit at the Clinton Nuclear Power Plant. I do not like foreign countries using nuclear power because I don't trust them. If the plant is not ran according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions's standards and procedures, you can have serious consequences like the melt-down in Russia. Nuclear power has many advantages and the only disadvantage that I know of is where to store the nuclear waste, but that is a big issue also.
