Is Creativity a dying trend? By: Ryan Duda
Is there a lack of creativity in the United States? Is T.V. and other entertainment taking away that creative flow from the open minds of children and adults, or is it increasing it with different veiw points and interesting ideas? What good is creativity, anyway? If everyone's creativity dried up, what would be missing?

I think there is a lack of creativity in the United States. Why? Because it's all about politics. The United States in not interested in it's people. It's only interested in nulear bombs, space shuttle launching, and sending young men and women to war. I find that this creativity is a dying trend.
Televison and enterainment is taking away a lot from adults and children. In this day and age all you see if nudity and sex sceens. Cartons use profinatiy and the soap operas have people glued to there seat. I think a good creativity is sports, reading and attending school. If creativity dried up, the world you probaly be coming to an end.

I don't think there is a lackof creativity because we are always coming up with new products and new cures for diseases. We may not be making huge progress, like inventing the wheel or an airplane, but that doesn't eman creativity has dried up, which would be bad. I think that there are always many creative minds out there that are just shy. So, no I don't think we are losing creativity.
Having a 12 year old brother, who i feel, is constantly in front of the television, his gameboy, and the playstaion, i have gotten a first hand experience on the the idea that television might take away from the creativity of a person. I can hoenstly say that i don't think it does to a huge extent. My little brother is one of the brightest kids i know, he's always on top of things and is always thinking of new things to do. He reads chapter books that are 5 grade levels up from what the other kids in his class are reading and he can most of the time come up wiht better comebacks than me or my other brother. I don't like the fact that he watches so much tv and i would never tell him that i'm saying this but i think it has almost increased his creativity. That sounds wierd and completely incorrect, how could television and video games help a childs creativity? I don't know if it is like this for every child but i know that watching my little brother grow up and his habits and behaviors he is definatly creative and a bright kid.
I don't think thatcreativity will ever leave our minds completley. I feel like the human race will always be looking for new ideas and inventions to better our lives.

I believe that creativity is always going to be in our minds. Whether we choose to use it or not is up to us. I think if everyone's creativity dried up, there would be no t.v. Someonehad to use their imagination to think up all of the crazy t.v. shows. So, I think t.v. can create many positive ideas in people's minds, but at the same time, you need to balance that out. I think television is just a way to exercise the mind and lead it to places that maybe you have never thoughtof, but I think some of your own creativity is necessary to keep the mind sharp.
Hi, Ryan. I value creativity because it leads to change and improvement in everyday life and gives me something to think about and be entertained by. I would surely miss all art forms if everyone's creativity suddenly vanished, not to mention all the inventions that make life a little easier.
I don't see anything of the sort happening, I'm happy to say. Though I certainly see a tendency (maybe a dangerous or unappetizing tendency) for people to conform their behavior to the ways of others, I think within that conformity creativity is alive and well. I see evidence of creativity every day in my kids' behavior and the games they come up with and also in the classroom here at Parkland and in books, movies, magazines, and all the forms of art.
But I am worried about too much TV and video games promoting lazy, disinclined minds. I do think the minds of kids can be diminished and dulled via TV and computers just as the minds of adults can be dulled by too much alcohol and drugs.
For now, it seems to me I meet one creative mind for every robotic automaton I encounter. In fact, though I can't back this with any stats, I'm seeing an overall increase in student interest for learning and thinking for themselves, and I would think that creative productivity would go along with that.
Thanks for asking!

I think that a lot of kids are glued to the t.v. and not getting outside to do anything. Kids aren't making up games to play or drawing a picture. Why would they when they can stay in the air conditioning all day long. Cartoons are not what they used to be either. They don't teach the kids anything. But, the people had to use creativity to make the show in the first place. I believe there still is creativity in the world just used in different ways. More video games, computer games, and tv shows. When kids grow up they do what they are interested in. They will be the next video game creator.

I think the U.S. is increasing its creativity. With new ideas comes more new ideas. I see this to be a never ending cycle. New political problems, financial puzzles, and competitions force us to think differently, thus forming new solutions and ideas--creativity! Creativity gives us motivation to strive for better. If Americans thought computers could not be advanced any further, Microsoft would plunder and we would be stuck with the present systems.

I think there is a lack of creativity in the world. If you watch commercials, they are all looking the same. I think if we had more ads like there were in older days, I would be more likely to buy the product. Ads, these days, seem to not be honest. Is creativity another word for fiction? That is the way I think things are. Kids in school do not have to use their minds like we used to, everything is written down for them, where is the learning? This is why when they get to college; they struggle to make the grade. Darcy Cekander
I dont think that there is a lack of creativity in the US. Sure many of the movies these days are all being re-made, but they remake them with better effects in them. Same with music, artists put their own sound in the music they are remaking. Plus there is alot of different music out there that is good. Video games are another great type of creativity. So many kids these days growing up playing video games want to grow up and make their own game. There is always going to be someone out there that is going to create something great. Aaron Royse
I do think that there is a lack of creativity in the United states. Everytime I watch T.V., I feel that it lowers my creativity. I see so many things that I never thought that I could think of and it makes me feel that I am just not very creative. I think that it definitely influences children more than adults because kids are like sponges and people are usually the most imaginative at a young age. Creativity leads to a rich and cultured life. If there wasn't any creativity, life would be boring and just no fun at all!

I'm not sure if I can help you on this one, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
I think that there is definitly a lack of creativity in the U.S., but I'm not to sure why. The only way I could blame T.V. and other forms of entertainment is on the mainstream aspect of it. When everybody's watching the same thing and listening to the same music, it's not surprizing to see creativity dying off.

I think that there is a lack of creativity in the United States today. I'm not sure if it is because of T.V. and other entertainment or if it is because of people just being lazy. I think that the majority of people in this country are lazy and want the easy way out, therefore they don't have use creativity in their life. I think that creativity builds character in a person and makes them stand out. I think if no one had creativity we wouldn't have anything that we have today. If everyone's creativity dried up, we would be missing everything.
