Should all animal testing be banned?

Should all animal testing be banned? Is medical research testing okay, or is the makeup industry the culprit for why this topic is so hated on?

What things that are tested on animals make it so bad? What are some not so bad things?

What is your opinion of an alternative to animal testing?

What things could be done to cut animal testing for good?

thanks!

Well i really feel nutral on this topic. If you didn't already know that there are over 72 million cats and 45 million dogs born in a year when there are only 454 million people. Now what are we soppose to do with these animals. We can't find a home for all of them because its just not possible. We already are euthinizing so many of them the way it is now. why can't we find a way to make these animals useful to the society. What other things are we suppose to use for the testing?

For cosmetic purposes yes it should be banned. They can use high tech computers to get the answers they are looking for. Even if they do test it out on an animal they do nothing about finding a cure.

For medical purposes, we have no other alternative. Do I like the fact animals are being used? No. I am an avid animal lover. I have three dogs, one cat, 20 fish and 3 hermit crabs. But the last time I looked it was illegal to test on people.

No, medical testing should be allowed, it could help them as well as us. But yes makeup testing on animals should be banned. People just need to suck it up and gain confidence with the way they are. Is putting an animals life at risk because you want to hide a blemish worth it? Sadly, I don't know of any other options. Three things inherit the earth: humans, animals, and plants. For some reason we don't want to risk ourselves, plants won't show results similar to humans, so that leaves animals, poor things.

Medical testing on animals is not always accurate because animals sometimes react differently to medications and drugs than humans do. It is cruel to pump drugs into animals and sit there and wait to see if they die from it. Even though I can't think of an alternative, I don't like to think about animals suffering either. And I definitely don't think it should be done for cosmetic purposes! Experiments should be done on volunteers, not animals, and any product that causes doubt about its toxicity should probably not be used anyway.

I only had a few pets when I was younger and even then they didn't have much of an impact on me. So, animal testing doesn't impact me very strongly, but on teh flip side of that; if I had a pet I would never want any type of harm to come to it. Jus because humans seem supieror doesn't mena we should have the right to do whatever we want with no thought or consideration for others (even animals).
I would love to see an alternative in view of animal testing, but I have no idea what that would be.
I relly don't know enough on this topic to give any real knowledge, but it would be great to get away from using animals for testing.

cosmetic testing on animals should be banned. it's just not right. animals are living beings too and we shouldn't treat them like crap just cause they're not humans.

i think that for some medical purposes, it's ok to test on animals but animals don't always have the same reaction that humans do. th only good thing to come out of this would is the obvious; finding cures for diseases. but how often does that happen? so how animals are we killing? too many.

i don't believe there is an alternative. we can't test on oursleves, so i think that animal testing should be limited to certain kinds of animals for certain kinds of procedures.

I do not think animal testing should be banned. If we could not do tests on animals to test drugs and medications, then how can we improve them for humans. It really comes down to whether we chose to test on animals or humans, personally I chose the animals cause that means we put people's lives at risk. If the testing ends up killing the animal because of side affects, then better it than a human.

For medical purposes i dont think it should be banned. I dont want medicine being placed on the market with out being tested first. The reason they test animals is to see if that drug or procedure works and has any side affects. I know that it might be cruel to test on animals but there is no other choice. I think that cosmetic testing on animals is also needed to see if the product will have any side affects. I would rather and animal be tested and see if something happens on something living, then to listen to what a computer says will or wont happen.

it all depends on how the animals are being kept and treated along with what the animals are being tested with. if all the animals are beign kept in little cages all day and being neglected then it shouldnt be allowed. if the animals are being tourchered needlessly on an obviously dead end project or somthing then that shouldnt be allowed either. but if the animals are giving the space and other things they need and being tested with say a new cure for cancer or something then im all for it.

I think that animal testing for medical research should certainly not be banned. Some people say that it is animal cruelty to make animals the subject when we dont think it is safe enough for humans but honestly this research needs to be done, and in my opinion a mouse is a much better thing to experiment on and make mistakes then a human being! This research is potentially saving millions of lives and we as people can not afford to cut such testing. It may be a little cruel to experiment with animals for makeup but personally being someone who wears makeup I guess I can not really judge or say anything.

I do not think that there should be animal testing if it could potentially kill them or make them sick. If it is something that will not harm them, then it is okay to me, because we do it on humans all the time. But in no way, shape or form should they be harmed or killed.

the testing performed by the cosmetic industry should be banned. but the done by the medical industry is needed to keep dangerous tests from being performed on humans. is it better for a few animals to be tested on and die or for a the same number of people to die of the same reason.

I think that in the world we live in today we need animal testing. Most of the products on the shelves are tested on animals and if they weren't then would we test them on? I guess makeup was what started the animal testing so they are to blame, but it would of happened eventually. Animal testing will always be present, or until animals fight back and tell us to step off. Maybe we should just test products on human clones, since everyone is ragging on them.

I do not feel there is a good alternative to animal testing. if someone came up with a plausable plan b I would be more than willing to listen and even try it out. Unfortuneatly I have not heard of a good alternative and becuase there is no other way, I believe that animal testing will have do for now.

There are stray animals running all over the place due to how much animals can reproduce. Animals can produce atleast 5 babies in a liter while a human usually has one. Testing medical supplies on animals should continue but the make-up industry should find a better thing than an animal the play dress up.

I do not believe that all animal testing should be banned. Most testing is done on lab rats and I don't have strong emotional ties to the well being of a rat. I would rather have the life of an animal endangered than the life of a human. The only alternative to animal testing is human testing. There is a need to test products because they are constantly coming up with new chemicals that they are not sure what the reaction will be.

how else are people going to learn without testing? would you rather be tested on than an animal? let it be, let scientists do there thing.
