same-sex marriage--make it legal everywhere?

How do you feel about Proposition 8? Do you feel the state of California has the right to make a marriage between same sexes illegal in their state? Who gives you the right to choose who you love and want to marry? How do you feel about same-sex marriages? Do you think we need to add proposition 8 to the US Consitution for everyone? Or do you think individual states should continue to be in control of legalizing same-sex marriage?

Thanks for your help-- Capri Winston (4:30)

I am all for same-sex marriage! The biggest problem that faces our country with this issue is that our country is based upon religious views that condemn unconventional ways of doing things. I would love to see the US Constitution adopt proposition 8. I would also like to see this country do more for homosexuals! We accomodate to serial killers and sex offenders, why not do humanity some good for once and help out somebody that has done NOTHING WRONG?

Same sex marriages dont bother me at all, I see it as who am i to judge who u fall in love with. No proposition 8 should not be added, because then they will be taking away those peoples freedom..

Same sex marriages don't bother me but i know that i don't want to see it on television or in magazines. It shold be kept private and not blown up all over the media. Homosexuals can't help the way they are. It's the way they were born or have become. It's in their heart who they love, and you can't tell your heart to quit loving someone. If they have feelings for the same sex, then that's great. They should do whatever makes them happy in life, even if it's against what people think. God may be against same sex marriages but i guess they'll have to take it up with him. Homosexuals aren't excitedly accepted in our society because it's not what people are used to. People just don't understand why you would marry someone of the same sex. It's because they are happy, and you can't put a right or wrong on happiness.

I don't think any couple should be told whether or not they can marry eachother just because they are the same sex. It's amazing to me how some people judge gay couples and say what a sin it is and they have their own secrets and are committing just as many if not more sins. Just because you don't agree with someone's choice doesn't mean you should judge them.

I think if gay couples have the rights to live and be together, and have the rights to raise and adopt children. I believe they have the right to get married. As long as they are happy I don’t see a problem in homosexuals getting married. Religion gets in the way of that. I think religion gets in the way of a lot of things. Here in America we were built on the beliefs of being free. I think that should include the freedom to choose who we love. Also we need to stop mixing church and state. We have too many religions in this country and I don’t think its fair that the Christians get to decide what is right for us.

I am against same sex marriage.I believe God intended for man and woman to be together(Adam and Eve) not Adam and Steve.Kids today are confused enough without having to wander why their Mom is kissing another Mom or Dad with another Dad.I think the country does more than enough for homosexuals. I would say though that after my divorce I thought seriously of becoming a homosexual until I heard about all the anal and oral sex i would have to do with a man.Learning those things led to my decision to stay hetrosexual. However if the Government would send everyone who wanted a same sex marriage to Zimbabwe I would support it.

I think that same sex marriages should be legalized country wide. I've never had a problem with homosexuals, and I've always said this world could use a lot more happiness. People that are blinded by religions in seeing the joy of two people together, wether or not their sex is the same, need to close their books and open their eyes and minds. Those that just hate homosexuals and don't want the rigt for same sex marriages need to get over themselves and see that many couples' happiness from a marriage is a lot more important and beneficial to this world that is already overflowing with selfish anger, misunderstanding, and hate.

I personally feel that no one has the right to tell anyone who they can or can not marry. If marrying someone of the same sex is what makes an individual happy then so be it. Marriage is a personal couple's choice, and not anyone outside of the relationship. People need to learn how to accept people for who they are and discontinue to categorize people.

Same sex marriage should not even be that big of a controversial issue. Government has a say in almost evrything these days. Whether or not 2 gay people wanna get married is up to them. Government makes these smaller issues seem so big and people buy into it. Marriage is something that is supposed to be enjoyable. How are people with same sex marriages happy when they are constantly being stereotyped and l;ooked down upon. These people are just trying to be happy, but they can't be and they have done nothing wrong

I believe that if two people love each other it does not matter whether they are man/woman, man/man or woman/woman. Everyone has the right to be happy and if that is marrying same sex, than so be it.

I feel that California has the same right to make same-sex marriage illegal as it does to make any other act illegel. The only way it can be changed is if the US Supreme Court rules it unconstitution. I am totally againsit same-sex marriage, i feel its just wrong and that is not how humans made to do or think. I feel the states should decide for there selves if it should be illegal or not

Same sex marriage doesn't bother me and it should bother any because nobody (at least me) is obligaded to supoort these homosexuals. I do think that everyone is free to marry who ever they love and live happy. In this case the homosexuals are meking a big deal because if they love each other and want to be together forever, a marriage is no necessary. So I think that the goverment sholid keep it how it is, controlled.

I believe that one way or the other there needs to be a decision made nation wide either for or against same sex marriage. State by state doesn't work and just creates more controversy and more chaos. Regardless of people's personal opinions I believe this is an issue that needs to be dealt with and soon. There are arguments both for and against same sex marriage. For example, people should be able to marry with whomever they want to. But this idea of same sex marriage also opens the government up to lots of scam artists, who will manipulate the government to benefit themselves (like spousal health care and retirement benefits). And lets face it there are way too many dishonest people in this country who would jump at the opportunity to screw over the US government. And it is a very common that a few people ruin it for the rest of us.

Why not! Its all over the televisions. And plus their going to be together regardless if they can get married or not, so I don't have a problem with it.

i dont have a problem with gay people , and i dont care what they do as long as they dont bother me. but i dont think they should get married i think that two people of the same sex getting married mocks our society and marrige our country is so screwed up right now and everyone is so divided that it will never be legal everywhere. marriage is suppose to be a sacred bond between a man and a woman and thats they way it needs to stay.

I feel there is nothing wrong with same sex marriage, it is their choice and if they have strong feelings toward each other then they should have the right. Same sex relationships are okay because those people have just as much right to marry someone of the same sex as we do marrying someone of the opposite sex, I mean who the hell are we to go and tell them that they can't. I also hate it when the churches want to voice their opinion and say that it is not right and is wrong by the bible. I am probably going to hell for that last comment, but I don't care because my view is that they have the right to be happy just like every American living in the U.S..

I honestly don't mind it. I can look at it from two views. Realistically and religiously. Realistically, everyone should have the right to be happy, everyone should be able to express their love and celebrate it and have the milestone of marriage in their relationship. Religiously,God has the right. The higher power says same sex relations are wrong, and what he says goes, religiously speaking. I honestly don't care...they aren't affecting me and my "religious purity." Them getting married isn't goign to affect how God sees me. Marriage still needs to stay state by state because there is a huge gap in opinions so you can't just set a standard.

I believe same sex marriage needs to be legalized already. It's not going anywhere, so let it be! I don't understand people who get so offended by it. What two other people do with their lovel ife is not hurting you one bit, so let them be. You can't help who you love, if we could, everyone on earth would have a match right now. So leave people alone and stop discriminating.

I agree with Jerry. God made Adam and eve. Not Adam and Steve. Call me old fashioned but I believe Leviticus 18:22 says it best."Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind it is abomination." What you do in your own time is none of our business, but don’t expect the whole country to accept it.

If two people of the same sex are in love and would like to be married then they should be able to with out a big controversy going on.

i am fully against same sex marriage. i was born and raised christian and i believe that god made man and woman for a reason, not all men or all women. i completely agree with Jerry on this topic. i think god wanted relationships and marriage to be between a man and a woman. i don't want to have to here about it or watch it. it's foul and i think it's not right. i do have some homosexual friends that came out recently. we're still friends and they know how i feel about it. i tell them it's wrong and they say yeah yeah we know. god never said anywhere in the bible that it was ok for to men or two women to get together. so it's now ok. that's how it should stay.

i think california has every right to say no to gay marriage! they passed a vote through out the satae and the majority of the people said no so obviously they dont want it. i hate same saex marriage. adding propostion 8 to the us constiution will put a black mark on it.

I feel that having same sex marriage takes away the saintity of marriage. Marraige was made for a man and woman, and it simply should remain that way.

English student said...
