What do you think will happen to America after Obama? Do you think America will be better or worse than we are today? Based on all the changes that Obama wants to make (gay marriage, pulling troops out of Iraq, Partial-birth abortion), will they help our nation, or make things worse?

I think that America will have change under Obama. I don't think he'll make all the changes he wants, but I do think that things will be different. I foresee us pulling out of Iraq slowly, but surely. Gas prices are down.. and they will probably stay that way. I think he's brought inspiration to a lot of people who didn't believe in the "American Dream" anymore.. I think things will change for sure.
As a very strong conservative person, I am honestly scared for the coming years. I am not for any of the things her proposes for our country. That being said, I think that America will change quite a bit. After all, we now have a democratic president. I am hoping for the best. I'll be the first to admit he's doing a great and that I was wrong about him but as of now I'm not all for it. Even though i'm not for him, i still think this country could use some MINOR changes. if he does this, i think our country is in for a better next four years.
I am willing to give President Elect Obama a chance, as are quite a few of my peers.
I can only hope and pray that the United States is better off, because right now it is not looking very pretty.
What is up with gay marriage? Why is it so important that we stop people who are in love from marrying one another? Marrying the same sex is not my preference and it may not be yours, but people have the right to love who they want and yes even marry them.
Troops will not immediately be pulled from Iraq, they can't be because there are too many things still happening that need to be taken care of. Do I support the war. No....but I do support our troops.
I do not believe in abortion except under certain circumstances, but for the life of me I have no clue what a partial-birth abortion is. I don't like the sound of it, but instead of jumping to conclusions, I think I will read up on it just to see what he has actually said.
I certainly dont think we will be any worse off than we are now.Im sure he will make some changes that i dont or wont support.He has a tough job ahead of him,but like i have said before if he makes half the changes he promises to,for the working class man it will be better for us.If he turns out to be a total fuck up then hell probably get killed and if he doesnt then the people will have to make sure he isnt elected again
In this day and age I'm thinking in so many directions on so many level, I can't say the outcome of the direction this counrty will take but I can say it's time 4 us 2 deal with our ill's in society ourselves as a people and as a nation in our schools and communities before any major change happen.... classmate T ware
to be entirely honest i have no idea how the next four years are going to go. it is an odd coincidence that a couple of ancient cultures have predicted that the end of the world will be in 2012 (the end of his first term). its also an odd coincidence that one deffinition of the antichrist is a man in his mid to late fourties, of middle eastern decent and very well spoken. all of which obama is. but on the other hand how many civilizations have predicted there own end? or even how many times that we know of has it supposed to be the end of the world(2000 and 2001)i guess the only thing anyone can do is wait and see and try to get involved if somthing does go horrible wrong.

I definetly think that under Obama the country is going to make some huge changes. Whether the changes will be for the better or worse I do not know now, only time will tell. I do think that the way the country is now that we would have been better off with some one with a little more experience in office. I think that there are way to many side issues surrounding Obama that will take him away from his presidential duties; such as race, I know it shouldnt be an issue at all but I think that people are constantly going to be focused on that and not focused on what he is/should be doing for the country. From what very little I have heard of Obama he sounds like he expects to make big changes and promises a lot, I only hope he can back up all that big talk. I can honestly say that I am nervous about Obama being in office, the country definetely needs stability right now and I think that there is to much distraction around Obama for him to be able to adequately provide that stability.
i really can't say how america will be different but the things happen will most likely change, hopefully for the better. if he can somehow change the economy and move this country in right direction then it will be better. but if he can't change the economy then the country may continue its downfall.

I think America will change for the better and anything will be better than George Bush was. He wont get to make all the change but i agree that he has inspired america and teens in general. I hope he improve are economy and a victory in iraq and afghanistan

It is hard to tell right now, but once he is put in office, the promises he has made will be put to the test. The only thing that can be done is hope for the changes and to have some faith.

I'm always a supporter of change, but at what cost? I hate that people are so critical of our presidents, whether Republican or Democratic because we, the people, voted them into office. Obviously they had appeal if they were elected. Not to mention, who am I to complain...I can't imagine doing a better job than those chosen.
As for Obama, it is obvious that changes will occur from his election into office, as for whether they will be for better or worse I only hope for the best.

I think that change will come regardless if it is big or small. I am kind of excited to see how things are going to turn out in the next four years. Things should most likely get a little better!!!
Right now, anything will be better than what the reign of the Bush Administration has done to this country. Just by cutting the billions of dollars that are spent on wars we shouldn't be in, and other government programs that aren't working out, the country will be better off. Obama wants to go through and cut these programs, he wants to put taxes back to the way they were when America was prosperous instead of in debt. Everyone wants our troops home, and he's on a mission to do that which will make a lot of people happy and alot of people more faithful in our government. Spending money on new ways of energy will also get us where we need to be. We wil lno longer be dependent on foreign oil or cars. We will be able to make our own, and fuel our own. This will take time, after Obama, but him taking this step is going to do us well. Here's to the next 8 years of Obama
Of course change will happen. We just went from a republican president to a democrat. That doesnt always say too much, but Obama and Bush don't exactly have a lot of the same views. But i believe change for the best will happen. I believe that it will be easier for people to go to college. More energy efficient cars will be produced. And Hopefully in ten years poverty will be cut in half. These are all things that Obama has vowed to fight for. I know it's not as easy as 1-2-3 to get these things done. But Obama seems to know what he wants....and can make complete sentences. It's awesome.
To be honest I am excited for the next four years. For one i dont think that the country can get in much worse shape. I know Obama has a lot on his plate but he seems like the man for the job. But we need to stop worrying about abortions and gay marriage if we want to fix the country. Obama needs to focus on our struggling economy, the energy crisis and pulling out the troops. Anything after Bush will feel like an upgrade.
I think that after Obama, America will be a weaker country. Pulling the troops out of the middle east is disrespectful to the solders who have died and it also shows that america no longer has what it takes to win a war. I think america is starting to look like rome in its finial years. Rome had bad finacial problems and started pulling their tropps out of countries they had occupied. Rome started to accept homosexuals into their society. In the bible it says taht any civilization that accepts homosexuals will fall.
i dont pay much attention to our government and the people that run it, but it does seem like we've takin a dive since bush has been in. im sure it will be a little better for the country, but dont worry there will be PLENTY more to bitch about!

Ditto Tyler Meadows. For those who think Obama is going to damage our country, I have news for you: the damage has been done and then some. Our country is worse off in at least 11 major ways since 8 years ago (education, penal system, war, respect from other countries, foreign diplomacy, freedom of expression, privacy, the gap between the rich and the poor and the vanishing middle class, economics, environment, corporate influence on politics, the rise of the religious right, etc. etc, etc.).
Can Obama fix all of this? Hell, no. But at least he's a humble and intelligent man who seeks the opinions of informed and intelligent others. I don't think many people understand just how BAD Bush has been for this country. He's been on an 8-year ego trip. He thought because a bunch of uneducated yahoos from Nebraska, Texas, and Oklahoma voted him into office that he had a mandate to do as he wishes. Wrong. No one should put themselves above the country and the United Nations, which is exactly what he did, forcing changes in policy through a cowering Congress (after 9-11)--changes that would embarrass Thomas Jefferson and the rest of our founding fathers and make them cringe.
Consider this: over 90% of people with advanced college degrees support Obama over Bush and McCain. It was the ignorant and uneducated who got Bush into office, and I'm just happy some of them woke up enough not to let it happen again. They had to be hit where it hurts, though--in their wallets and purses. Thanks a bunch for nothing George W. Bush. You're daddy is 10x the man you are and and 100x the president. And now you talk about making millions on the lecture circuit--as if anyone is going to pay this man to ramble on with his inarticulate and redneck-biased opinions.
(Okay, sorry to get on my high horse . . . but I am SO happy to see Bush out, and so happy to see his near exact counterpart voted in. Live with it, conservative Republicans. What goes around comes around . . . and now you get 8 years of Obama!)

I think Barack Obama is an excellent speaker, and he came out of nowhere and won an election during his first term as a senator. To me, it makes him just a little untrustworthy. He is a good leader, but is he leading in the right direction? Is he ready to lead a country? I'm afraid some of his government plans will put our country farther in debt. Also, I don't think it is safe to take our troups out of the war because Iraq is unstable-not to mention that it is sad to think of all the soldiers who have died and how they are being dishonored by us giving up the war. In my opinion, too many voters voted for the charismatic, good-looking young man-not his ideas-and we might pay for it later.
I dont think america will change all that much. Every president trying to get elected makes all these promisies but never go through with any of them. They just say all that stuff to get peoples votes and get into the white house. The only real big change that will occur is that the colored people will probably have more faith in the government.

I believe that America will change drastically under the direction of Obama. Will it be for better or worse? I hope and pray for the better. As a republican I am very uneasy about him running our country. While a lot of plans sound great I just don't foresee them working successfully.

I don't believe that anything will change with Obama in office. Problems are still going to come up, wars will happen and politics are stupid as always. It is just another man in office that makes his promises and can never keep them. Things won't get better and they won't get worse.

well i agree with many of the other people,somebody needs to change stuff to get this country back on track. i think under obamas reign the ecomomy will have to get better it cant get much worse. but, im not going to bash president bush tho, i think there were some bad decisions made on his part but i also believe that there are only certian things he can control,when things he cant control go to shit he gets the blame and its not right.
i think that it will take a long time change to effect america. yea sure any bill they passs now may or may not help america. but there is not gonna be a quick plan to fix america. the president has alot to do with the economy but you gotta remember there are 2 other groups of americans that can overturn his opionin so it aint just him that will be shaping america. and i do NOT think that gay marrige should be allowed b/c GOD MADE ADAM AND EVE NOT ADAM AND STEVE!!!
