Creationism or big bang?

Many of us have a view on how the world was created. What is your view? Do you think that God really created Earth? If so, do you think He created the entire universe? Scientists believe that our universe came into existence as a result of an explosion, a "big bang," and that our universe continues to expand, but this belief directly contradicts what you read in the Bible.

So how did we and other living creatures end up on this planet? Is there persuasive proof to either side of the argument between creationists and scientists?

Honestly I believe that we came into creation do to something more then just the big bang theory. While I doubt that we were just magically put here either. In my opinion "we" like other species evolved from other things around us, but on the other hand I believe we had some help and were made to help take care of the earth.

Personally, I think it's all about faith, about what you believe in. Many of the things people think happened in the very distant past contradict the Bible but that doesn't make it false, nor does it say that the Bible is false. Take dinosaurs for example, where in the Bible does it talk about those? I've never seen it but they find bones to abnormally large animals right? People believe what they believe, it doesn't make them right or wrong because there is honestly no way of proving them wrong

Of course the two theories contradict each other, because science and religion have never gotten along very well. In the eyes of faith and religion, science has never stood very tall. Science was always seen to be something evil. It is hard for me to pick a side on how everything was created because in my opinion it is a bit extreme to say that one man created all life, and created the planet and the universe that we live in. And I cannot side with the scientists because I do not know enough information about the big bang theory to argue their case.

I believe that there is a higher power that made it possible for the "big bang theory" to happen. I dont think that it just magically happened out of the blue. I believe that the higher power had initially created things to happen that way and then left the science part to continue on its own.

There are so many proven facts to show that yes evolution really did happen it's hard not to believe it, however, the big bang theory is kind of out there. It's a lot easier to believe that God created the universe, and with time everything evolved. As a human race we can look back and see that we have evolved. If there really was a "Big Bang" I would have to think that God was behind it.

I think it all comes down to what you believe in.By that I mean it mostly has to do with what religion you are and what they have made you believe in. I don't think many people actually stop for a moment and think of how exactly we got here. I beleive that god sacraficed his life for us to be here on earth. Then I think why does he make people suffer. Why does he let horrible things happen on earth if he made such a great earth? I believe we all have our own ideas.....but will never know the real answer. Dawn Smith

Luckily being agnostic I don't ever answer this question! :) Personally it all depends on your faith, how you were raised. I think the bible or any other religious book is an amazing piece of literature but more than that is up to the reader. Believe whatever you want to believe but don't be a follower.

If you believe in god you walk by faith and not by sight. In Genesis it says god created the world and I believe this, not just because I am a follower of god, but because to create something so vast it had to have been done by a greater power. I do not agree with with the big bang theory because to there is not enough evidence there to prove its existence. I also do not believe we evolved from apes. Granted there are many similarities between us I believe if we did evolve we would continue to evolve and over all the years that has not happened.

I think that God kind of created the earth. How else would we be here if he didnt. A big bang theory could have happened to form the world to, but its what ever you believe in. If it was God or if it was a big bang theory. I bet science created the earth and that God created us because there would have been no other way of creating us.

I believe that God created The Heavens and The Earth. I do not buy the "big bang " theory. I believe in total creationism. So many people, better open up their Bibles, and read Genesis 1:1a, where tells you that God created the earth. They are trying to leave that open for the double-minded, and the weak. Too many signs are out there already that would point to The Creator doing all of his own work. I do not believe that the big bang theory created the animal realm. Tracey Boswell

I truly believe that yes if it had not been for God none of us would be here. Scientist are always trying to figure out how we came into existance but they will never know because they can't understand that God is almighty and he can do amazing wonders. When you read in the Bible about how God created the earth its so exciting because we know that only God could have done this. Man will forever try to figure out how we got here but they never will, all they need to know is that God has everything in control.

honestly i think that god really did create the earth. i dont think we would be here cause of a big bang that does not make any simples at all. im an big believer and i do think there is a god and that he is the one that created the earth and even the universe. the big bang theory just dont make any simples at all.

My view on this is that it doesn't matter. People who believe in creationism will believe it whether scientists determine the universe was created by the Big Bang or whether it was created in any other way. Scientists who study quantum physics and the beginnings of the universe aren't going to find a note written on the side of a quark or a gluon that says "God was here". The physics is there no matter what, and their job is to find it and find out how it works, not disprove whether God exists or not. I think people who get worked up over this issue have too much time and energy on their hands and need to get a hobby. Or a puppy. Puppies are nice.

I know that God is real. There are too many things that I feel can't be explainded in this world by science. I am a christian and I do believe that God created the Heavens and the Earth. Scientists have to think everything through and have to have rock hard proof. What they do see is that we are the rock hard proof. There is no way we came from monkeys. we are all complex and there is a creater.

With all due respect, I'll disagree with Cody and say that there's no way God "did it all." I have been a longtime fan of Carl Sagan, who points out, with persuasive reasons and evidence to back what he says, that the cosmos is beyond human comprehension. Think of a sandy beach. Now add to that beach another trillion times trillion more grains of sand. Think of the largest number you can come up with. Now multiply that number by itself. You're getting the idea of how vast the cosmos is--absolutely unimaginably HUGE. Big enough to fit a billion galaxies unknown to us forever. We only know they are out there. Sagan points out that the odds of our earth being the only planet with life are microscope. There are many other planets out there with the same life-sustaining conditions that the earth has.

So, did God create them all? Or just this one little pithy planet we call earth? If He created them all, why don't we hear about that in the Bible? If He created only the earth, where did all the other stars, planets, and celestial beings comes from?

Sorry, but there's no evidence of God's existence, much less his ability to do *anything* He wants whenever He wants to. That's crazy! People who believe in the omniscience and omnipotence of a supreme being and literal truth of the Bible just need to do more reading to be persuaded that our planet has been around FAR longer than the idea of God has been around. The earth is a spinning rock warm enough for creatures to be cooked without being overcooked--that's it. Enjoy your time here because when you're gone, you're gone forever--all your life energies being absorbed into into the vastness of space. Kinda cool when you think about it--to be so finite within the realm of the infinite.

If this issue were a football game, the score would be this:

BIG BANG 63 CREATIONISM 7

The BIG BANG theory has the big guns behind it, whereas the creationist theory has only a few cute cheerleaders shaking their pom-poms and trying to drown out the other team's supporters.

I do believe that we were put on this earth by own ancestors, who i beleive were created by God. I am a very religious person and i do believe in God and everything that the bible says. Others have their own opinions and that okay, but some of us will never really know untill the end of our days!

I have to vote with creation. Too many things in nature are WAY too perfect to have shown up any other way. The biblical explanation is proved further by scientific discoveries that are being made each day.

Research on the historical data that matches up with the bible has shown the detail given to be proven true. Although many archeologists and scientists started out to disprove the bible, the findings more and more often gave clarity or proof. Scientific research in carbon dating, molecular structure and physics as well astronomy have reversed many of the original findings to agree with creation, once a closer look was taken.

Big bang? I don't think so. I tend to believe the biblical account of the world being "spoken" into existance. The perfection of gravity is a perfect example. How is it that the earth is exactly in the right spot and tipped just right? If we were further away, closer to the sun or perfectly straight instead of tipped, the environment that we need wouldn't be there for us.

The perfection in creation, nature, the universe is astounding. The result of a cosmic explosion? Check out biology alone, seeing what, where, how animals live and interact. Look at the perfection of their inner workings and instincts. An accident of science? You'll have a hard time convincing me!
