well i guess they can if you have ever seen the show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" what a kick ass show. i Feel that anyone who has killed or cammitted a horrible crime should have the chance to be rehablitated because they shouldn't be getting out anyway.. someone who might have just robbed, stole a car, or something to that extent could be tought not to do those things..I would have to say that they would have to go through a rehabilitation class for a least 3-4 years just to male sure we can get that through there head.\

I believ that some types of people can be rehabilitated, thiefs, trafic violators, and the such. I dont believe that psyco killers and mass murderers can be rehabilitated, because most criminals know what they are doing and some of them do not truly feel sorry for what they have done.

I think some inmates can be rehabilitated back into society, but most cannot. Everybody makes mistakes in life and I believe in a second chance. Some people get thrown in jail just becuase they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Everybody does bad things. Noone is perfect by any means.

There are inmates that are in jail for extreme cases such as murders, molesters, rapists, drug addicts, and these are the people that I feel cannot be brought back into society. These are horrible crimes and I feel that becuase you have done something like this once that you are very likely to do it again. Just for a thought like that to go threw your head should be enough. These are the people that are dangerous to society.

On the other hand, some people get jail time for minor drugs, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and driving offenses. These are the people that I feel should be let back into society. However, on special conditions. They should have to complete a rehabilitation program and be placed of probahation for quite a long time. These people just need a second chance. They did something stupid and after serving there time for it they should be let back out. There are are dangerous as the murders, rapist, and molesters.

I think some inmates can be rehabilitated if they really want to change. But if they are in prison doing their time, and saying and doing the things just to get them out of there, they will return to there old ways as soon as they are released. I also think it depends on the type of crime they have commited. If it is something like robbery they could change, but if they have commited murder I am not sure they could be rehabilitaed.

Most inmates that fill up our jails are there because of learned patterns of behavior that don't fall within the societal norm (stealing, dealing, physical violence) and any learned behavior can be unlearned, given the right treatment over time. I don't think that our prison system is even close to being able to handle this job. Prison right now relies on loss of freedom and poor treatment to act as a deterrant to going back or going there in the first place. The high rate of return on inmates plainly shows that this isn't working. People have to be given a means to better themselves if you want them to do so. If they are just going to be kicked back out on the street with nothing to show for their "rehabilitation" time after their sentence is over they are more than likely just going to end up right back in there.

I think that inamates that are doing time for murder or sexual predaters can not be rehabilitated. People that have that type of hostillity or sexual aggression should not be allowed to be back on the streets. If they went through rehab hows to say they won't go right back out there are harm again. On the other hand, I do feel as if inmates who steal or are in prison for drugs that have not harmed any one, should have the option of the rehabilitation program. Thus being the fact that they weren't out to harm anybody.

Now it depends on what the crime is and if they show signs of remorse for what they did immedietly after their caught. To me people that have murder someone else in cold blood can not be rehabilitated because they often are never sorry for what they've done. Now if someone killed in self defense but still got convicted than they can be rehabilitated since they were just trying to live themselves but got caught in a terribl accident. Basically it just depends on the crime that was committed and whether or not the person is truely sorry and willing to change to get a better life and not just to get a get out of jail free card.
