Organic vs Chemicals

Is the lawn care industry endangering the environment, or are the environmentalists endangering the lawn care industry? Or do you think both are true? What changes should be made? Should the lawn care industry be looking into more organic alternatives? Does the consumer want an organic alternative? Are the environmentalists making a big stink about nothing? Please visit the web sites below and give me your most educated opinion as time allows.
Thank you!

I beleive both. When you have the average joe doing his lawn and misread the direction and than it runs off in a nearby creek and kills ten fish down the stream. On the other hand the enviromentalists is endangering the lawn care industries as well. If the enviromentalists is making stricter laws every year it is going to get to the point the the smaller companies are going to take short cuts just to break even.
I think the enviromentalist should have more classes or have the something the public would be interested in and educate them on whats is going on in your yard and the whole nation as a whole.
Organic could make it worse. If you have too much in one area it could cause more problems then help them.
I thnk that it is the comsumer's choice. Some orgainic products have an awful smell to them and you might get complaints.
I don't think that their making a big stink about nothing. I think that they are doing about it the wrong way. They need to educate the consumer, not the distrubutor.

The environment was here long before people came around and started messing it up. Where meadows and forests used to grow, we now have apartments, houses, and condos. People who have the money for professional lawn care want things to look just perfect in thier yards. But isn't nature perfect on it's own? Wasn't it just fine without us until we(as a whole human race) introduced toxic chemicals and everything? If people really think that they need to have thier yards up to thier standards, then the professional lawn care companies need to use more environmentally friendly products. Chemicals not only hurt unwanted plants, they hurt animals, bugs, our water system, and even the air we breathe. Environmentalists are fighting for something very worthwile when asking for organics! The consumer may not want it at first, but I believe that is a price we need to pay to have a heathier earth for us and generations to come.

I don't know a lot about this subject. I tried to visit some web sites to look at this both ways, but have not come up with a strong opinion either way. I have my lawn professionally treated and the chemcials that are used do not prevent my family or pets from going out onto the lawn. I'm sure if the chemicals are not used properly they could cause damage to lawns, plants, water and even wildlife. Organic could certainly be an alternative. Why not if the resources are already there? Might was well put the compost or manure to use.

I think that both the lawn care industry is endangering the environment, and the environmentalists are endangering the lawn care industry. I think that the lawn care industry should try to find safer chemicals to use on lawns so they won't harm the environment as much. I think that most consumers would be more interested in organic alternatives, and the lawn care industry should look into more organic alternitives.

I think, if anything, the lawn care industry is endangering the environment. All the chemicals put into lawn and garden fertilizers and other stuff to help them grow is very dangerous. Although TruGreen ChemLawn says that all of the stuff they use on lawns is the same as what people buy in stores, this still does not help anyone out. Everyone is using the same stuff, and it still can be dangerous. Lawns now in todays world, are a big thing. If you have a nice, kept up lawn your house will look very nice. I think the lawn care industry should maybe take a more organic approach, but if the lawns are looking good now, why stop? A more organic approach would help our enviornment out alot though. In my opinion, evnvironmentalists are always complaining about something. There is no way that the world would be what it is today if we did everything the environmentalists said.

Both are good choices. There are some lawncare chemicals that just ruin your lawn if its not used right. The enviromentalists are also having congress pass more strictfull laws that make it impossible to have a chemical that saids that it is safe for your lawn and it saids it right on the box to have it on your lawn becuase the homeowners want their lawns to have a nice green look for their yards so that they are not the family that doesn't take care of their lawn. If there is any alternative lawn care chemical or organic alternative why don't the home owners know about this. Also the government doesn't want these chemicals to leak down into our sewers and into the underground rivers that are supposed to be our drinking water. The homowners also need to be tought on how to treat there lawn and what is good and bad for thier lawn and for the enviroment today so that in the next 30 years the homeowners lawns won't look like crap.

I think that the lawn care industry is endangering the environment. Putting environmentally poisonous chemicals on our lawns just to make them look the way we wnat them to look is not fair to the earth. What is more important, that your lawn looks perfect, or that you environment is safe? i think that the lawn care industry should be looking for more environmentally friendly ways to make their products. If they don't work as well then that is too bad. I actually think that their should be a law against putting chemicals on your lawn that could harm the environment. Protecting the earth should be peoples main concern because it's not going to be around much longer if we don't. The environmentalist are just trying to do what is right. If we didn't have someone there telling us we were harming the air and the earth around us, we might not try to change things, which could lead to great disaster for the earth.

Well I dont' know much about this subject but from what i read about on the websites it sounds like both are endangering the enviornment. I believe that it would be nice if law care services would look in to alternatives. If they could make the chemicals they use safer that would be good. I also think thought that why do we need chemicals and things put onto our lawns. I know it makes them look a little better but if it is dangering the enviornment why don't we just not use this stuff. I mean what did they put on their lawn back in the old days?? If we just watered it some and not cared if our yards looks the greenest on the street than we would even have the problem of us endagering the enviornment with lawn care products.

I think the environmentalists are making a fuss over nothing. As far as I am concirned the human race has ruined the earth already. There is nothing much we can do any more, excpet watch the world get worse and worse. Therefore I believe that it is the consumer's chioce weather or not the use organic alternatives. I think the environmentalists are hurting the lawncare business because with all the environmental issuses there are today people will believe any thing bad they hear. I think if the environmentalists are actually concirned with the earth's future they would be taking drastic measures now, like the buning of natural resources.

It is unbelievable on how many pesicides there are in True Green. I have just think it is not right to have this banned in Norway, Nitherland, and Jordan. The question i have why is it not banned here or forced by the government to change there product so it is safe for animal, the young and old. I know the orkeic man has there products that is safe for the animals and children. So the lawn care companys should have to have their product safe for the enviroment around it. Jennifer Chounard

i think that all of the environmentalists need to get a life. these people to me make no sense its like they are just looking for thier 15 minutes of fame. i understand where some chemicals can promote problems, but the chemicals have been tested in labs and colleges the students need something to do right. dont get me wrong i love the planet and i dont want to die of some kind of chemical disease but i am not worried about that anytime soon. being a farmer has taught me the importance of chemicals. for higher yields and healthier crops some chemicals are needed. with todays technology i dont see why people are worried. in my opinion, the people who are not involved should stay out of it and just live thier lives. freedom of speach does not mean freedom to complian.

I'm antisynthetic, man. I'm a natural dude walking on natural legs, and I want to walk on natural grass. I say replace all the "Keep off the Grass" signs with "Keep the F...ing Chems Off the Grass, Dude!" signs.

you getting the idea where I stand on this? TruGreen is a misnomer--the green they give you is actually a Falsegreen brought to you by a 100% chemical solution that will give you a headache if you walk much on it or breathe it in and a heartache if you have sex on it.

Catch me drift? I'm against lawn care except for cutting the grass, which is like giving the earth a haircut. Nothing wrong with that . . . well unless you're a rasta man or a mulim woman, in which case it's a sin against the lord.

Seriously, bro, organic is ALWAYS better than chemical. Any fool knows that.
