The term DUI makes me think of the end of the line. I would think that it is very hard to get around to your job and friends after getting a DUI. If you do get one, I know you cannot have a CDL license or a Foid card, which for me would be really horrible because I am a hunter (a Foid card is like your license for a gun), and I do want to be able to drive a semi and have a CDL.
So what I am asking is when you hear the term DUI, what does it make you think of? How inconvenient would it be for you to get a DUI? Why do you think people risk getting a DUI by driving drunk even when they know the penalties awaiting them if the are caught?
Are you aware what the penalties are exactly for getting a DUI?

Dui would be very bad. Not being able to drive and no foid card would be the end of my life. Why people risk getting a DUI is a very good question, which i dont have a answer for. The Penalties are very inconvenient because no car and no job what could you do.

For me, when I hear the term DUI, I think of being grounded for a long time. Getting a DUI is similar to getting grounded because your getting something taken away from you and you really can't do anything or go anywhere. It's kind of like if your parent were to take away your car for 2 or 3 months for staying out all night with out telling them or your parents caught you smoking or something.
I think that some people just don't think about the consequences of drunk driving. Some people act stupid and don't use their brain enough to ask someone to come pick them up or have some drive them home.

When I of DUI I think of people who are not very responsible because you should never drink an drive to many other people around driving to that you could injure. The consequences for one can be real bad sometime you'll lose you liscenes for a couple of years then what you going to do? How you going to get to work or school? You ask other people to help you get from point A to point B when your used to doing that by yourself.

DUI is not taken nearly seriously enough in our country. I served in the Navy, and DUI was one of the things sailors feared most. Not only did one have to deal with legal aspects of it, but they also got busted down in rank and lost half of their pay for 2 months, not to mention being restricted to the boat(not so much on the submarine until we got into the shipyard) or put into assigned barracks that were closely monitored. Civilians tend to not take it very seriously at all, joking about not knowing how they got home and the like. The fact is that most car accidents and deaths caused by car accidents are caused by alcohol and drug use.

Unfortunatley, I do know what happens for a DUI.The penalties are severe but they do deter a lot of people from getting behind the wheel after drinking. The cost is astronimical and the repercussions are severe. What is the cost of saving an innocent person driving down the road sober? My answer to you is if you like hunting and want to be an over the road driver then stay away from drinking and driving. The loss of the FOID card is not forever but it is very hard to get it back. It is everyone's responsibility to drive safely.

DUI to me means no lisence, no lisence to me means everything out the door. If I got a DUI I wouldn't be able to get to school right now because I commute from Springfield to Champaign almost every day. I wouldnt be able to go see my boyfriend. I wouldnt even be able to go do the things I like to do. I think that people risk it because they never think they are going to get caught. After the first time you drink and drive and get by without being caught, you think its ok to do it again, and again, and again. Until you actually get caught is it a big deal, and you MIGHT stop and never do it again.

I have never had a dui but i have lost my license and its not the end of the world. I walked to work, exercised more, and strived to get things right when I did finally get my license back. Also when people are drunk they are at a loss for their inhibitions and dont care if anything happens...living in the moment, and usually you don't change your habits unless you get caught and get in trouble. In addition if alcohol is sooo bad it should be illegal too. A dui is not the end of the line for most people but an opportunity to see the consequences, and change their habits and actions in the future.

DUI when i hear that i think about how i can avoid someone doing it or how i can avoid from doing that type of situation.
When I think of the term DUI, I think of all the reasons for receiving one. Such as, drinking, drugging and that includes perscription drugs that can alter your state after taking them. Not being able to drive when I need to. The possible changes to my life not to include the fact that I would have to be arrested and have several court fees and fines to pay. I would hate to think that one choice could ruin my future employment possiblities not to mention the fact that other license are subject to scrutiny because of a DUI. I have no idea everything that you can be punished for as a result of a DUI, but I hope to never be in that situation by making good choices.

When I hear the term DUI I think of driving under the influence. which is the influence of alcohol having to much alcohol in your system to be operating a vehicle. It would be very inconvenient for me to get a DUI because I want to become a teacher and I will not be able to do that if I get a DUI they will not accept me. I honestly believe that if they are drunk that they do not know what they are doing so they are not thinking about the consequences. i believe that every person who drinks especially a lot should have a sober person with them anytime they want to drink were they have to have a vehicle to get home after they are done drinking. I do not know all the penalties for drinking while under the influence but I know they are not good.
