There are many contraceptives in the world today that help prevent pregnancies, but there are still thousands of abortions being preformed.The Department of Public Health reported the abortion rate in Illinois to be 47,717 in 2008, which has actually dropped in recent years. Do you think this rate is too high? There are some women who have had over two abortions--are they abusing their right of legal abortions?

Doctors say that every time you get an abortion, your chances of breast cancer double. So if you have a person that is continuously getting abortions, then they are affecting themselves as well and chances are they might be at high risk of getting breast cancer. I think that abortion is wrong and no one should ever think about doin it. If your pregnant and dont want a child then you can put the baby of for adoption, there are thousands of couples out there that cant have a child by themselves so why not save a life and allow someone to have a family?? abortion is definately not the answer.

yes, women are taking advantage at the fact that if they get pregnant that they could just abort the baby. im against abortions 100% i feel if you could get pregant then keep it. there are people in the world that are very upset that they can not have any childeren but yet there are young women that are in high school getting pregnant and then aborting the babies. i think the united states should just ban abortions.

I can't believe woman could have two abortions in a year, unfortunately it's be hard to force a law saying woman not wishing to have an abortion MUST be on birth control, avoiding this reckless behavior. I'm not siding for pro-life but obviously twice in one year is abusing the privilege, instead of destroying life put the child up for adoption.

If you can't deal with the outcome or possibility of having sex then don't do it. abortions are traumatic for people and many health problems could come from it. i think there's just too many girls out there who aren't ready for a kid and just rush into the decision that sounds the best. if you just continue to get abortions i believe that you are abusing your legal right and should probably get some help
One abortion may be acceptable, depending on the circumstances, but when a woman has more than one it just purely shows how unresponsible that person is. It is not fair that a child loses it's life because their parent was too unresponsible with their life. Having an abortion rate that high goes to show how careful people are being. I am sure that there are some cases where the woman had no say in what happen, and in that case I would say that it is ok to have an abortion
I think our rights for abortion needs to be controlled more. They make it to easy for women of all ages to get an abortion. I think the younger women need to know that they have other choices than an abortion. Hundreds of couples can't have their own children, and hundreds of babies are being killed each day. Doctors need to be more open with options for these women.
I think everyone has a strong opinion on abortion and I think it is killing a human for no reason. I do believe that women who know that their child has some sort of health issue and that it will not live when it is born should have the right then to have an abortion. Dawn Smith
No I don't think they are to high. If a person wishes to have an abortion, I feel that is there right to do so.
I am against abortions, but I don't think that the ability to have abortions should be taken away. I'd rather see a push toward better alternatives than abortion. If a woman gets pregnant and doesn't want the baby, a better way would be to give an overwhelming case to have to baby, than abort it.
I think health care reform is a step in the right direction. The cost of taking a baby to term is ridiculous, and it shouldn't be so. A young adult with an eye toward the future would be understandably wary about taking on a huge medical debt so early in their life. I think all births should be fully covered by the government. I think more money should be provided to adoption services and foster care. I think more rights should be afforded to adoptive parents. I've known more than one couple that adopted children from overseas, because they didn't want to deal with the possibility that the biological mother could show up at random one day and wanter her child back(this does happen).
I believe that if a family member of mine told me she was pregnant and considering abortion I would offer to raise the child myself. I'd make every argument I could against abortion, but I wouldn't persecute her if she decided to abort anyway. I can't imagine the pressures and the decisions women who get pregnant must go through if they consider that as an option. Perhaps there are some that can be blasé about it, but I think those women are few. Thus, I can't blame anyone for choosing abortion, because I know I would be ignorant to do so.

I honestly believe that many females are abusing their right for contraceptives. More so teen girls, I have heard some teenagers reportedly having up to three abortions or more at the young ripe age of 16 and older and many are taking advantage of the fact that having a child can be avoided and still continue onward with having unsafe sex. Do they not understand that they're killing lives just for the pleasure of themselves? For the benefit of a life not yet lived I honestly believe that abortions should all else be banned.

I think that abortion is up to the woman. It happens, the condom breaks, the birth control didn't work because of the medicine you were on. With a rape victim, who would want that consist reminder? The pressure that society put on teenagers that have a round belly is ridicules! The pain of giving up a child for adoption is unbearable, and some women can't deal with it, but they can't handle the pressure of raising a child. There is a law you can't abort once your 24 weeks pregnant, and there should be a law that you can't abort twice a year. Really once and done should be it, sadly some women do abuse this right, but for the first one I don't think it's that horrible. It wasn't what I wanted, but some women just can't handle the pressure, and why should they be punished for being human and giving into their urges?

I think the number is high. I don't believe that the moms should get abortions. If they don't want the child then they should give it up for adoption instead of kill the baby. If they didn't want it and there going to get an abotion then why did they get preganat it doesn't make much since. You have to let the baby live, i don't get why parents or moms do that to themselves and then have to live with that memeory of kill an inasent little baby. I don't think that abortion is the right answer, the baby should get to live his life and be happy.

I personaly don't see abortion as an option for me, but i do understand that other people do. if someone gets pregant and they dont want to have the child then that is there right, abortions are legal in Illinois, so therefore if people want one or two or even three that is there choice, not mine.

I do not believe in abortiions! i do not know why women would sit in a bedroom and have sexual pleasure and then end up pregnant, and not want their own children. It is sad to see such a large abortion rate just in the state of Illinois but that just goes to show you how irresponsible individuals are when it comes to prevention methods. I feel that its up to the women on whether or not she wants to have and abortion because that is the choice that she will have to live with for the rest of her life. If you are going to be having sex the least you can do is protect your self because having a baby is just one of many things that can happen when you don't use prevention methods.

Yes they are definitely abusing their legal rights. You would think that would learn from their first mistake. I honestly think that women should only get an abortion if the mother or baby is at serious life threatening risk. Not been able to afford a baby is life threatening. If you're too young, you brought this on yourself, so why should the baby suffer. They think that at two months the baby hasn't formed yet but there is a brain after the third week. That's before the mother even realizes she's pregnant. If they can't proof that either the mother or baby is at serious medical risk, then they shouldn't allow it.

I think rather you get an abortion depends on your morals and values. Some people do not think twice about taking a life because it has not been brought into the world yet. Personally the only reason I think abortion should be done is if the birth would be harmful to the mother or the fetus and you do not want to put the child through that to die anyway. But to have an abortion just because you feel you are not old enough is not the way to go. Instead of depending on an abortion as the way out you should not lay down with someone if you cannot take care of the consequences, which might be a baby.
I am 100% against abortion, mainly because I feel that, if you can lay down and have sex with a person, you can take care of a child. The only way to prevent getting pragnant is to not have sex at all. So when your being sexually active you're takin a risk, and all risk come along with conseqences whether good or bad! Most people do say that they're not ready to have a child or not finacially set to care for a child, well Don't have sex and abortion wouldn't be an option!
yes i think the rate is too high. it is my belief that women have a choice to have the baby and keep it. or to put it up for adoption killing the baby before it even had a chance to live is not really fair.
There is no reason to getting an abortion. You are killing a human being. It would be just like me going and shooting another person. But that isn't the way society views it. but yes women are taking advantage of abortions.

America is a free country. Woman should have the right to do what ever they want to do. Back then in Romania they said to all woman you cant use birth controls and you can have an abortion. i felt sorry for the kids when they were born they were ether left in the streets or sent to an orphanage home.
