Music Industry?

Where is the music industry heading? Some may say it is collapsing on itself, that yesterday's acts are gone and record labels are doomed to support disposable artists. Others may say that there is plenty of raw talent in the business for it to sustain itself. Is music growing less appealing with time? Will there be another musical breakthrough era like the 1990s? Is the industry losing power to the convenience of the Internet? Do you think today is a great time to be a musician or a very bad time ? Why do you think so?

I think that the music industry will be okay. Because of itunes and other online music spots, it is easier to access the music you want to listen to. We are a generation that listens to a very wide variety of music and I would think that would make it easier on the record companies. Music is always changing, so I am sure that there will be another breakthrough like the hip hop or pop genre.

i think that the music industry is becomeing more of a who is now buisness. people dont care about makeing good albums or records anymore. most songs created now sound just like everyone else, the bass lines are all very similar and most of the themes of songs are the same. i dont think that the music industry is colapsing, but i do think it is changing into something much less respectible.

I think that the music industry will be just fine. I think that one thing that will always stay the same is that we love music, so we will always buy music. I think that with all of the different varieties of music out there that more and more people are paying attention and tuning in to see what is new. I think that being a musician in this day and age would be good because of the fact that people like music and most people are willing to listen to new things and new musicians.

I think that the music industry will never die. Music is life to some people. No matter if the music is up to date or not people will like what is put out there. Not all people will like the same kind of music but most music will make it. Yes some artist are awful in some peoples minds but to others they are good artists. Internet has just made it easier and less expensive to get music. That could put a damper on the artist when it comes to the money that they are missing out on due to internet downloads.

I think that music as an industry is fine for now, but with all the cuts that are happening in the school systems today there could be problems for the future. With that said it is up to parents of kids who show a talent for music to make the extra effort to see how far the child can go. To me there will always be music and the there will always be a new style that comes along. I think that internet access further's our exposure to different types of music.

I think music industrys are just fine. There are many many artists in the world, so it shouldn't be hard to keep music going. I don't think music is growing less appealing. Older people may not like what we listen to now but they can still listen to what they always have, it just won't be new. Younger people are always enjoying music in my opinion. Music may be losing a little power to the internet. Since there is illegal downloading, I'm sure record sells aren't as high. Today is as good as any day to be a musician. Every generation will be a fan of something. If you have talent, bring it.

I know that the music industry will be just fine. A lot of people can’t leave the house without their iPods or cell phones (with music on them). What would people do in the car for 4 hours with no music? Go crazy!!!

Interesting question I never thought of it like this. I mean a lot of people just download music now days so no one is buying their Cd's so they are probably hurting. I do think the music industry will be fine though. There will always be those people out there that do buy the Cd's and concerts get sold out like crazy so I think most bands will survive. I'm not very broad in which music I listen to, there are a few somewhat hardcore bands I listen to then the rest is country so as long as mine do okay, I'm not going to worry.

I think that the music industry is going to be OK. With the all the new ways for people to get music these days the industry should be OK. Right now with auto tune and all the different machines that help anybody sound better, it is making it so anybody who wants to be a singer can. Right now is the perfect time to be a musician.

music as an industry will always be fine. everyone likes some sort of music. the problem is that musicians have become bland and are all searching for that same generic sound. artists are all trying to become "that guy" the guy with all the women and fancy cars. since when has music been about fancy cars? when did music become about getting girls? music should be an expression of how you feel. its a vibration of passion. it should focus on who is the better artist, who can produce the best quality albums. there are so many different programs and tons of computer teknology that make people sound good! how can that be called music?

music as an industry isnt going anywhere. music as an art is indangered.

I think the music industry in doing just fine. I really don't listen to a lot of music, but my kids are listening to music all the time. There are a lot of people that listen to music and different kinds so no way is the music industry going to collapse.

I think the music industry is going to be just fine. I think that music is still very appealing. I think now more than ever musicans are able to say more through their music they are able to show their feelings and thoughts. No I don't think they are losing their power through the internet. I think as long as people respect the music and are willing to pay for it they will be fine. Artist are selling out concerts in seconds these days so I think that is a great indicator that the music business is still strong!

Bands like the Jonas brothers and Hannah Montana could fall off a bridge for all I care. I think that the music industry is in a rut right now and they are doing whateverthey can to put new music out there. When songs like Adam Lamberts are on the top of the charts, then there is a major problem with our society today.

I personally dont know much about this and I do believe that music industry has been doing poorly now days. Old school music had way more meaning to it and the lyrics actually made way more sense. I am a big fan of Electro and house music. That's all I knew.

There is plenty to sing about.. i do sometimes wonder what else there is to sing about and then a new song comes out. I do enjoy the old songs here and there. new songs are just as good just over played. even if ppl sing about the same thing they can change up the tune and make it completely different or even upgrade old songs.

Well I dont think it is going away anytime soon but the money that is going into it can be questioned because of downloading free music. It seems that the good ones out there that know how to sell something with their music like a clothing line are going to be ok. Some just have one hit wonders and then bounce backl ten years later. I think that the music will always be there no matter what because it is around us everyday.

I think it's being revolutionized. Most bands are working on their own and through colaborations of other artists. They are starting their own labels and working for themselves. Look at what is happening to Virgin Records and Columbia Records, they have lost so much money and attention in the past decade because people are finding better and cheaper ways to gain that piece of music. As Time passes by certain genres will become extinct and new experimental genres will emerge. Bands are also finding new ways to promote their music through stores like Walmart and Target and on the computer with Rapsody and iTunes.
Its never a bad time to become a musician, as long as you have the heart and determination to persue it. Overall music will still be there till the end.
