All Things Considered, Do You Think Video Games Are Good Or Bad?

All Things Considered, Do You Think Video Games Are Good Or Bad?

Some things to think about:
-Do some games help younger children with brain function and hand-eye coordination?
-What is the effect of video games on teenagers? Do they become more lazy, more violent?
-Can video games aid older adults in keeping both mind and body active?
What other considerations come into play when deciding whether video games do more harm or good in our society?
How many hours a day or week do you spend playing video games on average?

I think that it depends on the type of person and the type of game. I do think that educational video games can be good for younger kids because they are doing something fun and learning at the same time. Kids should not play video games more than a hour or so on school days and a little longer on weekends.

I think that video games can be good but that they can also be bad! I think that video games can be good because they give you something fun to do when you are bored so you can spend time doing that instead of doing drugs or something more harmful. Video games also help with hand-eye coordination and can help boost creative minds. However, what happens when you play a video game too much? My boyfriend used to be addicted to World of Warcraft! He would play that game for hours, and even days straight! He neglected to do things like work, study, have a social life or spend time with me! It almost ended our relationship and I am pregnant with his child! Thankfully, he has been able to cut down on his video game addiction.Unfortunately, video games have ended many peoples relationships! You can see examples if you search google for Warcraft Widows! It's very sad!

in my opinion, i think it just depends on the type of people using them and how they use them. of course being outdoors and doing physical excersise is going to be much more beneficial for your health than sitting in a dark room eating junk food and playing a video game for three to five hours. video gaming for some people can be as addicting as crack, so it's all about moderation. i think some educational games help young children, yes, but in reality, actually physically doing something and interacting face-to-face with another person teaches them more.

I agree with Twila, it depends on what type of kid you are and what type of game it is. Games do have somewhat an effect on kids but it still has to do just with what kind of kid you are. Most think that every kid comes out perfect and then they are ruined by video games and TV but some kids are just bad have certain genes that make them that way.

I am mixed on this subject. I believe that video games may help childrens hand-eye coordination but I also believe that it is helping younger children become more and more lazy. I think that video games don't make people more violent but if the person playing has mental problems it very well could. I think its a good thing that older people are playing Wii, it helps them move around and also have some fun. I believe that video games are making our society more lazy because more people decided to play video games then actually go outside and play.

I'm too busy to spend any time playing video games even though I have a video games system and a bunch of games ... I'd rather go outside and do something.

I think that video games are good and bad. I believe it does assist young children with hand and eye coordination, but can also cause some strain on the eyes( usually not noticeable)if the games are played for long periods of time. I never had video games growing up my Dad always said that they would make us lazy. I believe that is true. Todays generation is all about playing video games and the internet, kids need to get outside and exercise more. I believe that our minds benefit greatly from exercise and helps to keep it in a clear mental state. No wonder these kids today are growing to be more and more violent, with all the violence in the games and not getting enough exercise this can exceed to a negative state of mind. I do think that the Wii was a great invention because it brings families together and keeps those who play it somewhat active. I rarely play video games, but if I do its the Wii and only about once or twice a month if that.

i guess it really depents on how you look at video games some time you tink they are bad but when your friends and family is over for dinner or something you actully have fun with them. i think they are good for kids and adults becuase they take are mind of things and let us enjoy for few mintues and there is nothing wrong with that. i use to love video games but now i dont play them must as i use to because i dont have time. i know there are some kids out there who thinks life is like video games and they do some stupid thinks to rise issues like this that video games should not be allowed but we cant just look at one reason to not to allow video gmes.

Yes I do believe some games help younger children with their brain functions, such as puzzle, and matching games, and some educational video games. I think it depends on the person if they become lazy and or violent, when they play video games. Yes I do believe that they can aid older adults by helping keep their minds healthy and active. I do not think that video games do, more harm or good to our society. Like I said before, I think it depends on the person, and how they are going to respond to the game. I do not usually play a lot of video games because I don’t have the time. But I would say if I could probably and hour a day.

I do think video games help children with hand eye coordination, to an extent but like everything they need to be played in moderation. Some teens are more lazy than they used to be, but to be fair people have been lazy forever. I don't thing video games help anyone stay active. I think over all video games don't hurt or harm society it is just one of the activity's you can partake in. I don't personally spend any time playing video games.

I don't think video games are either good nor bad. I think they have benefits and negatives. They can be helpful for kids with hand eye coordination and can teach you things. They can also be negative though in several ways. Video games can be a major distraction from schoolwork and many other things. The most significant negative about video games is that they prevent many kids from being outside and playing sports, which means a lack of exercise. Video games can be linked to many overweight children, but I dont believe it has much of an effect on violence. I think it depends on the person that is playing them and what kind of a game it is. Over the course of a week, I probably spend about three hours playing video games and typically on a sunday.

I think video games are good and bad at the same time. You can learn alot of things when it comes to playing video games. Educational video games are good because it might teach you new things or help you understand a little more than maybe a teacher or instructor will. But on the other hand, video games can be very inappropriate for children certain ages. I dont think children under the age of 14 should play real violent video games because it might give them certain ideas, that might be harmful. I still play video games once in awhile, and when i do play i really enjoy playing. Video games are time consuming, and i enjoy playing it....

I think there is a positive and a negative side of letting children play video games, and I don't really have a problem with them if the children are playing them in moderation. I think children should have a limited amount of time to be playing them, and that the games should be age appropriate. Educational video games are becoming more popular recently, and I think those are a great idea. If throughout a child's day he has a set amount of time to play the games, and more time than that to be doing something active then I have no problem with them. Children need to be active and have time to play outside which helps 10 x's more with their motor skills than playing a video game would. But for long road trips & rainy days spent inside, I think they are fine.

I think they are great. They are entertaining and so realistic now days it's crazy. Obviously young kids should be allowed certain amounts of time. Parents should make them stay active also. I had them growing up and they were great for a rainy day and the winter. I play a couple hours a week still. Mostly sports games.

i agree with all different aspects, video games can both help and harm the people that play them. they give us something to do and would help with courdination. but the games now are very realistic and violent. almost like your actually out on the street killing people in some of them. but for certain games, they need a certain type of person.

It all depends on the type of game that is being played to help hand-eye coordination. For teenagers in laziness and violent, I say it all depends on the person playing. I would say that the Wii system with the sports, fitness, and mind games would be excellent for older adults in keeping their mind and body active. I myself hardly play games because of my busy life.
