Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage

Should same-sex marriage be legalized in all 50 states? Do you know anyone that is gay? Doesn't everyone deserve to be treated equally? Doesn't everyone have a right to be happy? What effect does same-sex marriage have on you? What disadvantages do you think legalizing gay marriage would have for our society?

Thanks for your input!

I dont think same-sex marriage should be legalized in the 5 states. Homosexuality is not something that people should be proud of. I dont even think i know any gay people. same-sex marriage should be illegal in the United States and whoever decides to go againtst it should be sent away to jail or something in that nature.

I do not think that same-sex marriage should be legal. Same-sex relationships are not natural. Men and Women have their different private parts for reasons. It doesnt work. Humans are here to reproduce and make children. How can you have children with two women or two men? You cannot.

I think same-sex marriage should be legalized in all 50 states. We live in America where everyone is different and acceppting these differences is part of what makes America so great. I have a male friend who is gay. He has all the same parts as a straight man, has fun just the same, goes to shcool and lives life just the same. Just because he choose to want to spend the rest of his life with a member of his own sex doesn't make him an outcast. Everyone is equal especially in America because that's the way we present this country. Everyone does have a right to be happy with their life and with their self. Being scrutenized for the way they are is wrong. Same-sex marriage would have no effect on me. It would make me happy to know that everyone has the same right to happiness as i do. I choose to be heterosexual and i'm happy with that. People who want to be homosexuals should be able to have the right to be happy with their life choice as well.

I think that same-sex marriage should be legalized. I think that if someone feels that strong about another person like that then they should be able to express their feilings the way they want to. Even though i don't like seeing it i'm not going to say anything bad about it, because people might think somethings that i do are wrong and i really dont care what they think about me. Every one has the right to be happy and people have to make their own decisions about their life.

Well how about we get and opinion from a lesbian. ME. Of course i think i should be able to get married legally in any state of the US. I pay taxes like you wear clothes, like you, serve my country like you, talke on my cell phone like you so i would say im pretty much just like you accept for the fact that i like someone of the same sex, but lets be real just because someone doesnt like the same thing you like does that mean they should be able to do it. So if i didnt like kool aide and you did does that mean all my rights should be taken away because i dont like kool aide and you do. I cant help it if i dont like kool aide and i cant help it if i dont like men. What am i suppose to do be with a guy, have sex with a guy, and have kids "the right way" just to make you happy. No, it doesnt work like that. Who cares if its against god. I mean dont get me wrong because i go to church every sunday, i volunteer, and im part of the choir but god said thou shall not kill and people do that right. So whats the big deal. Why cant i be happily married another women if thats what i chose to do just because you do like it. Im not going to pretend to be something im not. "People judge me by the colors i repp, the way i dress, and my sexuality but not by the way i think, who i really am, and my personality." Why is that?

If someone want it be gay it should be okay. If i recall this is a free country isnt it? So yes i think that it shoul be legalized ib all 50 states. And they should also get equal treatment that evryone elae does it is their free choice to be that way just like its everyone elses choice to be with who they want.

I agree with Kahla and Phillip--I'm for legalizing same-sex marriages in all 50 states. I think nearly everyone these days has had enough exposure to gay people (through the media if not through first-hand experience) that we're ready to take this step without causing too many heart-attacks in the more conservative-minded. I do think everyone deserves to be treated equally and that being allowed to marry the person of your choice is part of equal and fair treatment.

The only disadvantage I can think of in legalizing same-sex marriages
would be that some people just aren't ready to accept homosexuals yet. For this reason, maybe it's best to legalize a state or two at a time in a gradual process rather than legalizing all the states at once. I think some people might get really angry with our government and feel even more alienated than they already do. In the long run, this might be a good thing in that more people would be open minded and forced to accept differences in others, but things might get messy for the first few years.

One advantage to same-sex marriages is that they promote adoption. More couples would be adopting children instead of having their own, which would have several benefits, including easing overpopulation and reducing the number of orphans in the world.

I strongly believe that same-sex marriage should be legalized in all 50 states. I know several gay people and guess what? They are people who want to be in serious relationships and eventually marriage just like you and I. Why shouldn't they have the right to be in a marriage? They aren't any different than you or I when it comes to love, they just love the same sex - and I ask you: what the hell is wrong with that? People need to just over their homophobic bulls**t. A gay person is still A PERSON and he/she deserves to be treated the same as you and I. And lastly, I don't there would be any disadvantages to having legalized same-sex marriage. In fact, I think there would be the advantage of a lower divorce rate because the gay couples I know have been together for long periods of time and seem to be more serious than any straight relationship I've seen.

I do not think that same-sex marriages should be legalized here in the U.S. I agree with Cody Sullivan in the fact that one of the reasons that men and women are here on this earth is to have children. I dont believe that it is right to do this when there would be 2 moms or 2 dads. How would you feel if you were the child? I know I wouldnt like it. Another question I have is why would you want to be with someone that has the same equipment that you do?

I have no problem with same sex marriage. I know a couple of gay dudes and they're pretty cool guys. They know that if they would ever hit on me I would kick their ass, but they're not like that. I feel that its a lifestyle they either chose are couldnt help feeling, and I'm all about for fighting in what you believe in. Its something thats been around forever now and just needs to be accepted as something different, but still ok. People need to stop being so judgemental because of somebody else's choices, and just try and get to know them for who they are.

i do think that same-sex marriage should be legalized beceu everone has that right to be happy and they should be able to marry that person.i do not know anyone who is gay.And i do think that everyone shoudl be treated equally and that everyone should be able to be happy in thier lives. i don't think that same-sex will have a effect on me.But like everyone has been saying i don't get why you would want a person who was the same as you but whatever people can do what they want

I think that same sex marriages are ok. If two people of the same sex want to get married, that is their business and their decision to make alone. I don’t understand why other people want to make choices for others. I think that same sex marriage should be legal in all 50 state.

I feel that same sex marriage should never be legalized. Just because people have decided to now start coming out does not mean America should conform to their beliefs. I do not have a problem with people be gay but I do not need to see it publicized such as same sex marriage was on the East coast. People were not intended to be gay, and I will never agree with it.
