Should rapists and pedophiles get harsher prison sentences when convicted?
Many individuals who are put in prison for rape get out after only serving half of their sentence and end up repeating the same crime.
They ruined their victims' lives, so should the rest of their life be taken from them? What do you think the punishment should be? Should the punishment be different if the victim is 20 years or older compared to a baby to 19 years old? Or should the punishment be the same because all rape is wrong no matter the age or sex of the victim?

I think that rap is one of the worst crimes that can be committed. I think that punishment for rap should be for that person to get raped, but that will not happen. I think that a life sentence should be the punishment. The age of the criminal should not have anything to do with the punishment. They know what they are doing and should be punished for it.

I think that all sex predators and rapist should be sent to prison for life, or even get a death penalty. The world doesnt need perverts walking around the streets doing whatever they want to little kids and then getting out of prison after a little bit of time.
I was watching Dr. Phil and there was this man on there who had molested his six year old granddaughter. His punishment was only less than a yr. and nothing else. There are plenty of others sex predators who get way more time for molesting girls or women. Although i believe he should have gotten a whole lot more time i think all sex predators should get the same sentence. There is no amount of punishment to take away what they did but at least a maximum of 25+ years. For a sex predator to only serve a year or two in jail for ruining a childs, life/ tramatizing them or abusing a womens body is completly ridiculous. Its crazy how fighting or being caught with drugs can get you plenty of time in jail but when it comes to something as serious as violating a women or a little girl the time is barely nothing.

I think that rapists and pedophiles should get a harsher prison senteces. You are very right that they do not serve thier whole sentece and then they get back out and do the same thing so why let them out so they can ruin more lives.I think if you can get 20 years to life for murber you should get 20 years to life for rape since the victims of rape half to live with it for the rest of tier lives. and i think that would feel better if a knew that the person who did that would never get out. i also think you should get the same amout of time no matter the victims age. But really no matter how long you give the rapists it donesn't make up for what they did

I srtongly feel that sex predators should have a harsher punishment. It really upsets me when I hear about men commiting sex crimes and they barely do any time. I think it is horrible, that someone could commit such a haneous crime and be back out to walk the streets and endanger the innocent lives of any human being.
when dealing with the subject of rapist and molesters i think that the punishment should be alot harsher. with rape being a violent crime i believe that it should be seriously enforced. I honestly think that if some one is convicted of one of these crimes they should serve a small 2-5 year term. After they get out they are goin to have to live with it the rest of their life. Be considered a sex offender. I also think that if these people get caught a second time for a violent sex crime include molestation of a child they should get no more chances and sentenced to the death penalty. I say death penalty because it costs too much to keep someone in jail. think of it this way. If some commits their second violent sex crime be the age of thirty there have at least thirty maybe forty years to sit in prison. that cost alot of money. dont quote me on this but i think it cost alost 30,000 dollars a year to house one inmate. now multiply that by say thirty years in prison. thats 900,000 dollars to hold just one inmate for thirty years. how much does it cost to kill someone if they are going to rot in jail anyways.
I think that all rape is wrong no matter what age the person is. If the person is raping someone that is under thirteen then the should get a harsher sentence because that make them not only a rapist but also a pedifile.

I think in some cases rapists and pedophiles need longer and harsher prison terms, but in other cases they need long-term, intensive mental or emotional care. Prison is only going to punish them, and when they get out they'll be worse people, more bitter and violent, than when they went in. Some of these people need severe punishment, but others have a chance to be rehabilitated, and the way to do that is through treatment, not punishment (at least not ONLY punishment).
I think much more needs to be done at the early stages for people who are at high-risk for becoming sex offenders. I think many of these people were screwed up as kids and need a lot of attention to help them become emotionally healthy and less dangerous to other people. I know I sound like a bleeding-heart liberal who thinks that social programs are the answer to everything, but I don't think we focus enough on prevention of sex crimes and hate crimes. The way to do this is through education, but education programs are often the first ones cut when the government needs more money in some other area. Of course we end up paying high prices later for skimping early on. Many, many societies have much lower rates of sex crimes than we have in the United States, but we seldom try to learn anything from them.
I do think anyone who might put children at risk (including anyone with a conviction of a sex crime involving a child) needs to be monitored, either in prison or in a mental institution or in a hospital. They should never be let out early for such reasons as understaffed facilities or underfunded programs.

I think the minimum sentences that they give to these types of criminals should be extended. On top of the minimum sentence, I also think that they should be required to complete some type of thearpy and be approved by a psychologist to be fit to live in society.

In my opinion sex prdators or offenders should have there asses thrown in jail and left there. They shouldnt get a chance for parole or get out early. They shouldnt get a second chance in life because the person they hurt doesnt.

Rape to me is right under murder. Forcing yourself upon the unwilling is one of the worst things anyone can do to another person. I do feel that rapists and sex offenders are getting off to easy. Once a sex predator, always a sex predator. I think that if there getting off for only half of their sentences, then just start making the sentences longer. Jail isnt probably the best place for a sex offender. Being in jail for such a long time, they're gonna be even more sex deprived.

I think that all rapists and sex predators should be receiving a zero tolerance punishment. More often that not are rapists and predators going to jail for a few years and as soon as they get out of jail they revert right back to their old ways. Once you have committed a crime so disgusting you should no longer be allowed in any society, except jail. Rapist and sex predators tend to have an addiction that cannot be stopped. I feel that even after treatment there is a high chance of recommitting the crime.

Rapists should all be castrated.two of my family members have been raped and i think that the pepetrators should all be imprisoned for life at the very least. this type of crime ruins someones life forever. both family members were under the age of 15 and one of them may die if she ever gets pregnant. rapists are worse than murderers. they should all die
