Gamer?

Are video games a waste of time? How many people do you know who play video games? Do you play video games? If so, how much do you play? Is there anything positive that comes from video games? Should all schools have required game systems so the students can play educational games? Do you think video games should be banned? How many hours is too many per day for playing video games?

I wouldn't say video games should be banned but I think a lot of them aren't necessory. I know a lot of people who play them and none are educational, pretty much all are war games. Where people just shoot at eachother. So I don't think they should keep making so many different kinds of shooting games. It's putting out a bad message. Although the new games coming out for younger children are good. Young children get bored easily and something on the tv or computer can hold their attention for longer so they can learn something.

I hate video games. They take up to much of people time you never get anything done. Schools should not have them and children would never learn. They make people lazy.

Banning video games would ignorant. Video games are intended for people to have fun doing things they normally wouldn't be able too do. I enjoy sitting down and playing my PS3 for awhile. Although some people need to get a grip on reality, and get a job instead of playing video games all day. Educational games in school are a way for kids to get their heads out of a book and have a little fun while they are learning.

I don't think video games are a horrible thing but some people do get a little out of control with them. I know one guy who plays video games for like 18 hours a day, then sleeps. And when he wakes up, he does it all over again. So yeah I guess games do get out of control sometimes. Also, shooting games are kind of ridiculous. Kids play the ones where it's like war and they think that that is how war really is. But it definately isn't. You can't respawn in war over and over again. My opinion goes both ways.

In some ways I do think that video games are a waste of time. I mean if someone has homework to do and they would rather play video games then I defiantly they are a waste of someone's time. I do play some video games but they are on the Wii and I only play when I go home which isn't very often. I don't think all schools should have required games because it is the teachers job to teach the student not the computer. No video games shouldn't be banned. As an American its our right to be able to play video games if we want to. I think 3 hours of playing video games is too much per day.

I do think that some video games are a waste of time, but not all video games are. Like the educational sort of video games, they are definately not a waste of time. I think that some people do spend to much time playing them though. I think that you should spend less then two hours playing video games and not play them every day. I personally don't care much about video games, but I know that my brothers love to play them. Some times I don't get the fasination with them because people can spend their time better then playing some stupid game.

I don't think video games are a waste of time. I don't think you should pick them over homework or getting to go outside and have fun but they aren't a waste. They are good for when it's raining or when you can't go outside or something. I know a lot of people who play video games. The only time I play is once in a blue moon and it's just with my boyfriend, I like racing. Some video games are educational so that's a positive thing. I think schools are doing fine without videos so why put them in? No video games should not be banned. Everyone has fun in their own way, that wouldn't be fair to the gamers. Playing video games ALL day is a waste of your time, you could be doing something much more productive.

There is nothing wrong with video games. I know a lot of people that play them. I have play on a couple of different systems. I like the WII, it is something that my family and I can do together. Now there are a lot of people that spend to much time playing games. Most people that play video games all day have nothing else to be with there time, they could be out looking for a job or doing something with their time besides sitting in front of a video game. Some people waste way to much money on video games. Children should have a limit on how long they are allowed to play games. To have video games in the school they should have to deal education only. Kids are in school to learn not play video games.

I don't think video games are really a waste of time. I think they're more so for the guys. It's like girls shop, guys play video games. I don't think they should be banned, but I think some of the games they have out aren't needed. I know a lot of people who play video games, but it's not the center of their life or addicted to them. The only games I've seen or heard people playing are the violent games which don't exactly have anything positive coming out of that except maybe winning in the game. I do not think that educational games should be required exactly, but i think it would be kind of neat as like an option type of thing. I don't think i'd personally play them, i might try them out but other people might.

I think that video games are a waste of time, it doesn't really do anything for you. i don't think that they should be banned but a lot of them shouldn't be out there. Some of them turn kids violent in some ways. they make people lazy and a lot of people tend to play video games hours on end instead of going out and doing something with your life.

i dont think video games should be banned. i have a friend who lives close to me that plays c.o.d. with his brother in colorado almost everynight. they keep in touch through video games and its pretty much how they keep in touch with eachother. at the same time people get too caught up in video games and should put down the controlers. i think anywhere from 5-8 hours a week playing video games is ok, more than that is a waste of time.

Video games shouldn't be banned, its just something guys to do when they are bored or have some free time. I play my PS3 usually everyday but I know when to stop to do more important things and most people use game systems just for competition to play with people all over the country. Their are people who spend whole days playing games, but those are usually the people who already don't have lives and if they weren't playing games they would find something just a consuming to do.

They are a waste of time! I have six kids and that is all they want to do anymore is play video games. It takes the childs imagination away from them. I can remember when video games really where not around much and children had imaginations and playing socially with other children. What happened to that? Easy answer video games. Children need to be outside enjoying nature and playing with other children to gain more social skills. Video games are like the facebook and myspace on the internet it takes socialization away from kids these days. Lets go back to the old days of imagination and real friends.

I don't think video games are a waste of time. They are a part of our culture and there is no way you would ever be able to ban them. It is up to parents to regulate what the kids are doing. There should be a limit to the amount of time kids spend glued to the TV in any form. I think that video games could be used by schools to teach kids some things that are a little boring. Why not use the technology to enhance the learning process.

To me video games aren't a waste of time. Video games are there for a reason, not just to be abused. I know many people who still play video games even as adults. I can see playing a game for a short hour or so, but many kids and even adults take the video game world to a whole other level. Maybe it would be a good thing to have a mandatory game hour for kids still in school, it would give them a chance to relax and get they're minds off of school in a way that's interesting to them and somewhat educational. Video games shouldn't be banned they just shouldn't be taken out of hand. I think 3 hours would be too much time to play video games per day.

I dont think they are a wqaste of time. I know alot of ppl with video games, all different kinds of systems. I have one, I dont play it very often but it fun and relaxing. There are educational games that can be played. I think it depends on the game that your playing to say what the correct amount of time is that should be played. If your playing something educational and your on it for like five or six hours I dont think thats bad because your learning. IF YOUR ON A KILLING/VIOLENT GAME THAT LONG THATS WAYYYYY TOOOOO LONG

I think they can be a waste of a time. It just depends on how much of your time you spend playing them. I know a lot of people that play games. I do play video games and I play for a few hours a week. I don’t know if schools should have education games to play. If the kids know the game is educational they probably wouldn’t want to play it. I don’t think they should be banned and I don’t know how they could be banned or what they would be banned from. I would say probably more then 2-3 hours a day is too much depending on what you have to do that day.

I think video games are a waste of time is you make them a waste of time. Playing them is always enjoyable no matter who you are, but if you make them your priority that is when they become a waste of time. I do play them not all the time but when I have some free time I do turn on the x box for a little while. There may be some educational stuff in the games but I do not think schools should have them. Too many hours would be when you focus your life on that instead of what you need to get done.

I think educational games are wonderful and a great way to teach kids. I do feel that kids spend too much time playing video games that really are teaching them nothing. Shooting, fighting, and sports. The problem I have with the sports games is you are playing with the remote not the actual sport itself.

I think that some video games should be banned, but not all. I do think that lots of video games a a waste of time. I don't play video games much at all and don't plan on playing them more than I do. I think people spend to much time on them when they should be working on school work or playing outside with friends.

Hell no hahaha. I know a lot of people that play video games. Yes I also play video games. I know grandparents that play video games because their 40 year old son works for Microsoft. I usually play for hours depending on my schedual and the certain game I am playing. Yes I do think schools should have educational games, it is they age of technology and we should be on top of things. No I do not think video games should be banned. I think, if you are playing a game and you become frustrated with it then that is when you should quit, know matter how long you were playing previous to the incident.
