I think that a lot of the laws really are best for over all society but I do think that they do get carried away with some of them. So many people in the U.S. already some weed already so it is kind of pointless at this point to keep it illeagal and I think that people should be more trusted when it comes to gun laws as long as the person isn't a convicted felon or anything like that.

I wouldn't say our freedom is being taken away but they are cracking down. I think the reason for this is because of the past actions of americans. No seat belts and people dying in accidents. The smoking comercials on television and people get lung and throat cancer that never smoked. I guess in a way i agree but still should be able to make decisions if it affects only you.

I do think we keep having more and more taken away from us. The seatbelt law is ridiculous. Getting pulled over for that is just a waste of time and money. It should be your choice if you want to be thrown from the car when you get in an accident, let the them not wear it if they think thats best. I don't know much about guns but it's probably better there are laws about that. Being able to buy or own one should be looked after because otherwise just anyone could go get one and thats not what we need. The calories and nutrition thing is probably society's fault. Too many people sue over the dumbest stuff and in turn makes laws like this come about.

I think that some of the new laws and bills that are coming out are ridiculous. But I do agree with some of them. I agree with the no smoking law because of secondhand smoke. I agree with the seat belt law because of accidents and the seat belt is more likely to stop someone from going through the windshield then with someone not wearing a seat belt. I don't agree with the health care bill because I feel that there are things that are hidden in there and there are things that can be twisted for the insurance companies to get what they want. I also feel that it will screw us in the end.

I do think in some ways our freedom is being limited little by little and I only think times are going to get worse. When it comes to drugs, I honestly don't feel we should be allowed to do them. I knnow what I went through and wouldn't wish that upon anyone. I'm a smoker, but live with a man who has severe lung problems and experience what he goes through on a daily basis. I respect the ones who don't smoke. My problem is the freedom of speech. I can't freely speak any way I want to to whom ever I want to and where ever I want to, without being judged and that bothers me. I have my opinions and you have yours and opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

I think that the government is having to come up with laws because of the people that are abusing freedoms. We allow it to happen by our own actions. Part of it is because of frivolous law suits:Like the person who manufactures ladders now has to have a sign on it now because a really stupid guy set his ladder up on a frozen pile of manure in the morning, when he came back in the afternoon it had thawed so when the guy got back on the ladder it fell over and he was injured. He made a lot of money and the ladder manufacturer has to protect himself from idiots like that! Stuff like that happens all the time. Lois Sjoken (10:00)

I hate laws in general though I recognize the need for some of them, such as obeying traffic signals. Overall I think laws encourage people not to think for themselves, which is prob. dangerous for a society. I don't like being told what to do. I tend to do the opposite. So laws get me in trouble.
I'd like to see most laws taken off the books. Some are obsolete (did you know in Nevada it's still against the law to shear your neighbor's buffalo? In some other state, I forget which, it's against state law to have sex with a porcupine--is that law really necessary today? was it ever?) and others are unnecessary. The very word "LAW" sounds primitive to me, like something passed down from Moses. "It's the LAW." Give me a break. Is it against the law to piss in a public alley? Arrest me then. Against the law to drink a beer under 21? Arrest me a thousand times over.

The truth is that most people don't want to be free. Freedom requires a lot of thought, a lot of work. Most people live like robots, obeying the laws without questioning them, because they are either afraid to make waves or because it never occurs to them that are being programmed or enculturated (brainwashed) to be like everyone else instead of being an individual. Many laws suck, but Americans deserve them for being sheep.

I think that are freedoms are being fringed upon because the government is spending money to bail out rich companies. They are stilling from the poor and giving it to the rich.

i wouldnt really say our freedom is being takin away, because if it were then it would be unconstitutional and in a heartbeat there would be riots against the goverment to get this freedom back. I do however beleive that the goverment is comin up with tiny to large laws to put restictions on citizens, this would seem that our freedom were being takin away but in some weird loopwhole, the goverment can just say that we still have all our freedoms, like the freedom of speech, relgion, press and all those other ones

Yes, I do believe more and more that our freedoms are being taken away from us. I thought we are the land of the free but really we can't do a lot of things that we care to do. Like for some smoke in public places. Its just one law after another telling us what we can and cannot do.

Yes big time! The more people that come into our country and the more people that abuse our freedoms ruin it for everyone else. If the government would do the right thing we would not have problems and our freedoms would not be infringed on. It all starts with us the next generation.

I agree with Andy. Laws are put into effect because we need them, but I do feel that guns laws are touchy because of all the school shootings. It would be nice to think that parents would properly lock up their weapons, but at the same time, who has time to get a gun out of a safe in the closet when their home is being robbed in the middle of the night? It all boils down to expecting people to be responsible enough to do the right thing and because some can't, all will have to suffer the consequences. As for marijuana, I still can't figure out why people think it is worse than alcohol. Both can have damaging outcomes for your body, but I would rather be driving on the interstate with my family when a stoner is driving than a person who is drunk.
Laws are made to better our society, so just be thankful that we have them to help us, not because the government is trying to punish us.
