Life is formed at the point of conception. (when the sperm fertilizes the egg) This conception happen in the fallopian tubes. Birth control pills work by tricking the female body into thinking it is pregnant and not allowing the entity to attach to the uterus walls, thus commiting an act of ABORTION. So, if you are against abortion then you are also against birth control pills.

I believe early abortion is up to the woman involved. It is her choice, no one should force her to have a child or do away with it. For extremists, who believe abortion should be outlawed with no exceptions, I give an example.

A little girl (under 5-12, there are cases of 5 yr. olds conceiving)is raped and impregnated. She has already had a horrific and traumatizing experience, would it be acceptable to worsen the experience by dragging her through 9 months of confusing and scary pregnancy?

I really don't like to talk about abortion. I would rather leave it up to someone else to scrutinize over when we become human;it seems far to crass to discuss. I know in my heart that abortion is not right. But I have no desire to get involved in the politics of everyone else's decision. I had an unplanned pregnancy 2yrs ago and I was an emotional wreck. I wanted better circumstances for my child, and I breifly considered adoption but I knew that we belonged together.

I think getting an abortion is okay under SOME circumstances. I think that if a girl was raped she should have that choice whether or not she wants an abortion. I do think it's completely ridiculous that women get abortions just because they don't want the child. If that's the case, bear through the nine months and then give it up for adopotion or to a couple who can't concieve. There are so many people out there who can't have children who are just dying to get one, but yet people get abortions?!? It's not only selfish to the baby, but also to themselves. Unless you're raped, your taking the chance of getting pregenant if you have sex. I think people need to put more consideration into what can happen before they decide to have sex. Maybe this would help to lower the number of abortions? Who knows. I guess it's a personal decision if someone wants an abortion. But, I do think they need to have logically reasoning as to why they decided to do it. I know I could never go through with it, but everyone is different.

I believe that abortion is wrong. It is definately the murder of a child because life does begin at conception, and it is after this when abortion takes place. So if you do believe that abortion in any case is acceptable, you are basically saying that it is okay to take the life of a very young child. No matter what the case is such as a rape or just not wanting to have a baby, abortion should not be the answer. Every fetus should have the right to live a full and successful life, and I don't think anybody has the right or power to take the life away.

I believe abortion is neither right or wrong. Only god can be the judge of that. I do beleive that it is overall the woman's choice to decide what she wants to do with her body. She is the one that will have to deal with the aftermath of this important decision. If she can live more happily knowing she made the right choice then thats all that matters. Although i am somewhat religious i do beleive abortion is a sin so i personally do not condone it. But if a girl i knocked up wanted to have an abortion i would support her decision completely.

I think that it is wrong, unless there were complications. Like if the mother was very ill and the child, for some reason, wasn't going to live anyways. Because you never know, the baby could of grown up and discovered the cure for aids or something.

I think since it is a woman's body, it is her right to choose. This does have parameters of course; after a certain amount of time has passed abortion should no longer be an option. However, in the early stages of pregnancy, I think a woman should be able decide whether or not she wants to go through something that is dramatically life changing. On another note, I think there should be more emphasis on safe sex education, and birth control/condom use, instead of debating over this slippery-slope issue.

I am not here to judge others. If they have an abortion then that was their choice. For me, if i was in that situation then i would have the baby because no matter who, when, or where that is a life and i do not have the right to take it. I do believe that as soon as it has a heartbeat then it is a life. So if i was to get a girl pregnant then i would tell her to have the child and i would do whatever i could to raise it.

Abortion is murder. It is rarely medically necessary and most people use abortion as birth control. How unfortunate for the 40 million unborn babies lost to abortion since Roe v Wade in the early '70's. Did anyone ever think that one of these poor unfortunate children may have had the ability to grow up and cure cancer or AIDS? That adds a whole different slant to it, doesn't it??

English student said...

Abortion is defintiely murder. It is a living being and the doctor kills it. The only times I see abortion as acceptable is when 1)the mother was raped and became preganant or 2) the mother's health is in danger if she has a child. The first option though is still kind of tough for me to argue you for though. Technically it is still a child, but the way it was brought about was niether moral nor natural. The second option is easy to argue for becuase you arem putting someone's life at risk and you are not positive about the baby's health after that. There are many different alternatives to abortions with the main one being putting it up for adoption.

I think that abortion is without a doubt wrong! I don't think, however, that someone who has an abortion is going to hell or is necessarily a bad person. But I know that the woman is not the only one who is scarred by an abortion. Babies are completly torned apart (physically). Whoever doesn't think that thats not murder is sorely mistaken! I wish people would see how wrong this really is! I would go into detail to show everyone how gruesome abortion really is, but if you don't know, just go to an abortion clinic and look inside the clinics dumpsters! You think I'm joking....

I think that abortion is o.k. I can honestly say that when it comes to pro-life or pro-choice, I do believe that it is 100% the woman's choice! I do understand that having an abortion is committing a murder to an unborn child, but people also need to understand that it is the woman's choice to what she wants to do. I think that so many people are lost in blaming one-another, and saying that harming an unborn child is wrong and blah blah blah. Honestly, I'm sick of it. The woman who is pregnant should have the right to do whatever she wants.

Okay this is a really hard subject to talk about. There are so many angles and loops and all sorts of discombobulated ways of thinking. Giving birth to a child is one of the most wonderful experiences a woman could have, or so I've been told by my mother. But if the experience was had to early then it could be extremely traumatizing. I don't believe abortion is wrong. The mother's body is her own and no one elses. Yes there are cases but I also belive in a cut off point. After a certain amount of time I do think that aborting the fetus would then become wrong. And if the act was some thing other than rape it should become the responsibility of the people involved in the act. Thats all there is to it. Take responsibility for your actions. It's not like pregnancy is some unknown and forbidden topic. For pete's sake the discovery health channel's "Bringing Home Baby" has become quite popular. Belive me it shows enough detail to really drive the reality of the situation home. Honestly I'm prochoice and I believe in the right to choose. Depending on the situation I think ultimately it should be made by the mother and only the mother.

I believe that abortion is up to the individual and the situation. If a young girl has been raped she should have the choice to get an abortion or not.

I don't believe that its wrong for a woman to get an abortion if she doesn't want the child or she isn't ready to become a mother. This is a very big responsibility to raise a child.

There are to many young teens who get pregnant and decide to keep the baby and yet have no mean of taking care of it(job, money, place to live). They could give it up for adoption but most usually don't. They then ruin there young lives by having this extra burden by raising a child. Of course they ask the father to be with them but usually the case is the woman ends up raising the child alone because the young man isn't ready for the extra responsibility. This is a hard task to do at such a yound age and just discovering your individuality.
I do however believe that the older women should know better and should be using some sort of conterceptive instead of using abortion as a birth control.

I think depending on the circumstances it is okay for a woman to get an abortion. Under the circumstances if the woman was raped and became pregnant because of it then she should have the choice on wether or not to keep the baby. She may not want a child to remind her of that awful incident. If I got pregnant i would definatley not get an abortion. It would be the consequences for my own actions. If i choose to have sex and get pregnant then i should deal with the consequences of my actions. I have recently talked with my boyfriend about why we are not having sex and we both know that we are not ready for the consequences that may come with it. If i truly became pregnant i would never have an abortion.

I think abortion should not be allowed for people who chose not to use a condom or who just don't want a child. I feel that if they would of thought about their choses than they wouldn't be going through this. There is an acception for abortion, if a girl has been raped or forced to have unprotected sex and ends up pregnant, she should be able to have an abortion. She should not have to suffer with something that she had no concent over. The case about the five year old, i don't know how true that is, because she hasn't hit puberty yet. but she should be able to have an abortion.

Abortion kills human beings. Overpopulation of orphanages and genetic defects should not have any effect on the legality of abortion. The government needs to decide the legality based on whether or not abortion is the killing of a human being. If anyone can argue that abortion is not murder, I would love to hear it.

There cannot be any distinction made between when a child is conceived and when it becomes a person; it happens at the same time: conception

I am very strongly against abortion. I think that if you made the decision to have sex you should deal with the consequences. To me as soon as you find out your pregnant, you have a tiny human being that is inside of you. Even though it has been disputed that it's not a living human because it doesn't look like a real person, the heart begins beating within 18 to 21 days of conception. So is it okay to kill anyone?
But with that said in a case where a woman is raped, I am kind of on the fence whether she should have the choice whether she wants to have an abortion or not. I see both points. Yes, she has already gone through a lot, and seeing her child every day could bring all of those bad memories back, but I also think of it as a great thing that has come from a horrible situation. So in my opinion I am against abortion.

Abortion is something that should of never been invented. It's an act towards god not letting life run its course. When you have an abortion your playing god, and nobody has the choice to decide who dies except for god himself. I think its an aact of murder. Your not giving a child the right to live there lives, your just taking them from this earth for no justifiable reason and thats murder in my opinion. I would never agree with my girlfiend i'd rather put mt child into a foaster home and at least let my child live it's life like god had attended.

I really hate to discuss this topic. I read up on the OCP's being abortifacients after reading Daniel's entry. I don't know exactly how I feel about it, but I believe the pill is still better than an all out unprotected sex idea, or just condoms. I still don't know at what stage I believe it is a life. On the other hand, I don't believe that abortion should be an open thing. I have a friend who is a pregnancy counselor (in another college town) and when asked the number one type of person who came in and wanted an abortion-- she told me it was college girls who didn't want to lose their scholarships. What kind of country will we be if a thousand of babies are aborted so a thousand girls can keep playing sports. I do know I believe in a choice for abortion if someone is raped, or if the mother's life is endanger due to the fetus.

I think that when it comes down to being raped, an abortion is ok. I say this because the child was not made with love. However, if the abortion is done for any other circumstance, i think it is murder. A person is a person no matter how small they are. Also, if having the baby could kill the mother , then an abortion may be in the right.

Abortion is a hard topic. I don't believe abortion is acceptable in any case at all. There could be many different circumstances where some people say abortion is okay (example-rape) however, the baby is a human being and I believe in the end that it is murder. I think that if you have sex you should have to suffer the consequences.

in my honest opinion i thing that its the choice of the people that concieved the child. they made it so i think that they should be the ones to decide if they are ready to have a child or if they are not ready then have an abortion.

I definately think that abortion is wrong. There are so many couples who want to have a child and can't who would make tremendous parents, why not give the baby to them or to someone else?. To think how many women have abortions is horrifying to think about. It makes me sick! God did not want things to happen this way. The only possibly reason for an abortion would be if there were something wrong with the child, but if that were trully the case then god would taken care of it through a miscarriage, if the pregnancy was not made to be. God never wanted anyone to settle for an abortion.
