Will racism ever die?

Do you think racism remains a serious problem in the United States? In Illinois? In Champaign-Urbana? What do you base your views on? Please give me your thoughts on this subject. If you have any personal experience with racism, I'd like to hear that, too. Thanks for your help!

I think some racism is still prevalent in the united states today. Maybe not so much in Illinois, but in other states in the US. Racism isn't just everyone against African Americans it's everyone against everyone. Every person gets profiled against no matter the color of their skin or the clothes they where or their ethnicity. Comedians on t.v. make racial jokes all the time, people watch the t.v. and repeat the jokes. I do believe that racism of any kind is morally wrong.

I strongly believe that ther is still a bg race issue with the united states, however when one thinks of racism they think black and white. We still have to consider latin Americans, Asians, and even muslims. These have all been part of Americans fight against racism. I in these more mordern days African Americans and caucasians get along better then any other race, we have grown to adapt to each other can for the most part come together. dont get me wrong there is still alot of racism but it just depends were you stand.

Racism is still a problem to day and I think it is our fault that we do not end this demolization of people at the beginning when it was realized that it is a problem. It is up to our generation to stop it before it gets worst. The causes of racism are not the matter of skin or race, or religion it is the the way we as people now think of others. We judge people by the way they dress, the way they talk, and even by their grades. We judge our own president and senators when they do something we do like. Is that right? No it is not, we must think about the situation and think about what we would have done or think we would have done in the situation. They are just doing what they think must be done to keep us as citizens safe. We also still judge by race. The biggest is Mexicans and Arabs. When we see on of these two races we either think of illegal immigrants or terrist and that is how we treat these people here in the US. That is not right. We are a free country so we must treat everyone like they are in a free country to and not just in a country that doesn't like them because people of the same race are doing things we don't like. We must jugde people by whats in side and not whats out side. As they say do not judge a book by its cover.

I think that racism is still going on today. It has gotten better but is still there. The whole society is about profiling people. People dont admitt that they do it, but they do all the time. Racism is everywhere and it is sickening. In my mind we are all the same and no body has the right to judge us based on the color of our skin.

It is definitely still around and in my opinion it always will be as long as there are problems with thugs and gang bangers. Why would it stop. You are always going to have rednecks and people that don't like white people. It goes both ways. I am not saying that it is right, but you will never get everyone to conform to the same beliefs no matter how hard you try.

I do believe there is still a lot of racism going around the United States. It is not something that i think will go away any time soon because of the past issues that have happened over decades/ years ago for all races. The sad thing about it is that kids get brought into the world and are taugt to think/ act a certain way, therfore, the hatrid someone has agaisnt a certain race never really calms down or goes away because it is renewed generation after generation by those who are racist against others.

There is a lot of racism still going on in the United States today. There is still a problem with racism in the south. Many people dont know that. racism is going to be around for a while. Some people wont give you a job because of your skin color, or how you talk, or just how you present yourself.

I do feel that racism still exists to a certain degree. I actually know several people who can get this way at times. Today in society, I think that blame is shifted to the people of the different race. This is done so no one has to take responsibility for their own actions. "They are different so it had to be them" is what I have seen numerous times in my life. No one today can just fess up and take the blame. Everything has to be shifted. Another reason for racism is that today no one really likes change or to be different. If you are different from a group of people, you get excluded and left hanging out to dry in some cases. To be different means to be less today in society. If you are different you dont get the same things in the same way. It sucks but its true.

i think that racism is still prevalent in the United States because i stil hear people calling peolpe of a differnt color names not to thier faces but they are still being said.i do think that people make desisions about others by looking at them like after 9/11 anyone who lokked like they were from the Middle East was questioned about what they were going i have a uncle who was questioned before geting on plane jsut because the people thought at he was from the Middle East. And i know that people still make racila jokes becaeu i have family members who make them all the time. And i do think that are society still does racial profiling by just looking at people and not geting to know them before hand.

I think that racism is still strong in parts of the US and i believe it goes in all sorts of directions. Not white to black but black to white and every other race in the world. The two thing that feed it are sterio types and double standards in all dirrections.

Is racism still prevalent in the United States? Do people still make decisions based on the color of someone's skin? Do people still make racial jokes? Are we as a society still racial profiling?

I think a lot of racism is still prevalent in the United States. I know several people who can be that way sometimes. I think some people are just more racist to certain races than others are and that is the biggest problem. I would like to say that it has slowed down tremedously with our generation, but i don't think it really has. Not that its right, but part of it depends on where you come from and how you were raised. Some people don't understand or know how to act when they are around people of other races. As for the future, I hope that it becomes less of an issue with the future generations, but when you have so much war, media violence, and anger in this world, it would be hard to do so.

Racism is still alive and well all over the world!!!! Yet it seems to be on the increase in the United States, after it was on the decline for decades. One of the biggest issues concerning racism in the United States is the issue of "racial profiling." Racial profiling is only recently been brought to the forefront of racism issues.

As a young black african american i see racism everyday. People say it doesnt exist any more but it does. It just like my mom say,"back then they use to wear sheets over there heads, now they don't because they just dont care." I fell that what my mom says in very true. I use to work at meijers in champaign and one day when i had just got done cleaning the bathroom i walked out and a little boy was stading there wit his mother. I smiled and the little boy said," mommy look its a nigger," so i look at the mom thinking she is about ot tell her son that he is not suppose to say that and they she looks at him and say, "its ok shes a nice nigger," then she looks a me and walks away. If that isnt racism i dont know what is. Who teaches there children that. I mean its not like i came out of my mothers stomach saying i want to black. This is how God made me.

racism exists everywhere i think. i came to the United States from United Arab Emirates, and i was actually anything but shocked when i saw people here. people view racism as african americans gathering up and forming a group of friends, white americans gathering up and forming another and every other race clumping up. i dont think that this is racism as you can never fully understand another race. be respectful to the other races is pretty much it, you dont have to go mingle and make close friends with multi-racial people. this is everywhere. so in high school there was not a lot of arabic people and i didnt get really close with anybody in particular. i made friends and just lived on. but what people need to be more worried about are the powerful racists. cops, artists and politicans who can do a lot to harm a race. i think that if we focus more on getting rid of them every single race will have that one thing in common.

I believe that racism will never die, I think people will only learn to ignore it and go on with their lives. I will give you an example. When I was going up, I was always made fun of everyday by people saying did you have to jump the fence because I am a Mexican and I laugh and say no I simply walked over it because I am so tall but its not true because i was born here. To me It is only racial if the person is offended.

I think racism still excist in today's society. Some people say that racism might not still be livimg in Illinois, but it really is. There are all sorts of racism, not just saying you don't like a certain race. Racism can be affective simply if you go apply for a job and the manager looks at your application and see's that your race say BLACK; thats all they need not 2 hire you. Racism is wrong in every way possible. You can't expect to turn on the television and see some sort of Racism and not be affected by it. Racism is mainly hard on young kids that experience it and have to grow up that way.

I believe racism exists all over the world, not just the United States. It is sad that people do not have the intelligence to look beyond skin color, religious beliefs or sexual oreintation (just to name a few). I think racism will never die, as long as society and politicians keep it going.

When we think racism these days, we have to think past whites vs. blacks. Now there are Latin Americans, Asians, etc. Racism does still exist in the United States, but I don't see it as much. I don't see it to much in Illinois and I haven't seen it in Champaign-Urbana. Racism is going to exist no matter what. It's just the way the world is and people have to learn to accept the fact that it is going to happen. We have learned to come together better, and I see it in my everyday life. Only we can take care of the problem, but I think it nearly impossible to diminish all of racism. I think it just comes down to where you stnad on the issue.

I do not really think that racism will ever die. There will always be people out there thinking that they are getting treated wrongly because of the race or some other reason. I think that there is more racism with people from the middle east because what happened on 9/11. there will always be a problem with this.

I do think there is some racism still in the United States. I, personally, haven't seen very many truly racist comments, but I do think it is still there.

I do think that the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars really upped the racism against Arabic people, which is really uncalled for. Just because they are of the same area, doesn't mean that they all share the same beliefs.

I can't really share any experiences or anything, as I mentioned earlier, I've never seen anything really bad in personal experience.

I think this because, frankly, I think people just want scapegoats for whatever reason, so they're willing to be racist to whomever.

Racism is something in this country that will never die. the reason is really quite simple, ignorance and stupidity. The world is never going to be perfect and people are going to judge, it's that simple. There is no way that this issue is going to go away any time soon. People are not going to change because the world tells them they should. Don't get me wrong, it is wrong, but it is a problem that we all will have to accept.
Racism is not alienated to one specific race either like it is made out to be in the news. People of different races will always jump to judge another race for any reason. There are no acceptions, but there are no excusses. It is just stupidity that brings about these actions and words and stuborness of mankind to keep it going. This is an issue that is all around the world and it can be seen every day. The reason that people make such a fuss over it is because no one is willing to just let it go. People get pissed off when they here a racial slur as they deserve to, but they just need to accept the sad fact that it is never going to go away and they are not going to be able to change someone elses mind.
It is a shame that it is a part of our society and the rest of the world. It is something that shouldn't exist but does, and as long as there are differces between people, there will always be a hint of discrimination.

racism exists in every corner of every state in our country, wheather it white-black, black white, hispanic black. racism is deeply ingrained in our society and has been for hundreds of years. in europe people are anti-semetic in the us they are racist. i lived in rural virginia for 6 years and was witness to many KKK rallies and marches, as such a young child these things seemed normal to me. there were no black kids in my school and everyone seemed to think that blacks were'nt as good. this is absolutly not true but it was the only thing i ever heard. when i moved to illinois things were drastically different, my school in chicago was very diverse and as time passed i realized how wrong the people in virginia were. the key to eliminating racism is contact. if youre around someone who is different then you learn to accept that difference but if your never around them then they will always seem strange.

I strongly believe that racism will never die. For some people, they don't understand that racism involves more than black and white; it can be prejudice against all ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or what political party you belong to.
I feel there should be more done, but with society, the media, and politicians racism will never die.

there are many people who think they are not racist, but everyone are racist at one point or another. i personally experience it my self. whe i meet people, they automatically think that i am mexican, i am hispanic, but i am not mexican. people judge other people from the out side not from by getting to know them. racism is a big part of the United States and i think it will never die.

I do think racism still remains and i dont think its going to change overnight. one day my cousins were playing with some kids at school that were waiting for their parents to pick them up, and when their parents got there they got mad and made a comment. they said that when the school was being built the staff said that there werent going to be any mexicans allowed. and they left.

I do believe that they is still a great amount of racism in the world, but look how far we've come. I don't hear people wanting to go out and shot anymore soley based on their skin color, and we all know that is exactly how it used to be. We do not hold people in slavery anymore just because they were born a certain way. Rome wasn't built in a day either, you can't expect change to happen all at once, if you look closely at racism you can see that it has slowly decrease; generation after generation. I don't have the answer if racism will dissapear completely one day, but i do believe one day we will not have problems with other races. But then again we can't always know what people think and never express.

I absolutely believe that racism still remains a serious problem. It is a problem throughout the world. It seems like you can’t even turn on the TV without hearing about another race related incident. I base my opinion on firsthand experience, just as most people do. I have been in the presence of many different racist people, and have been disgusted by their ignorance. I think most people believe that their race is superior to others. Everyone has felt some sort of prejudice belief at some time or another, even if they claim to not be racist. What would be you’re first reaction if you boarded a plane and saw someone from the middle east? Many people would instantly have a high level of anxiety because of the horrific attacks made on September 11th. Without even thinking, their first reaction probably goes directly to linking them with terrorists. I don’t think that the younger generation holds on to racial beliefs like the older generations do/did. If everyone could just see that we are all human beings who deserve to be treated with respect, regardless of physical characteristics, then we wouldn’t have to worry about racism. I don’t see the world waking up one day and coming to that conclusion, so I’m sure this is a problem that will not be rectified any time soon. We can make a difference by teaching our children that everyone is special because God made each and every one of us.

I think that racism is still an issue in the United States. Maybe not particularly in Illinois but it is an issue. It has advanced throughout the years. Not only are people racist against blacks but now people are racist against other races such as hispanics and asians. I do have family members and friends who make racist comments quite often and honestly it bothers me. I have a few family members that are mixed (white and black) so when people make fun of blacks it really gets to me.
