The Idea of Religion

Do you feel that religion is an important part of faith?

Reminder: Faith by Dictionary.com: "The trust in God and in His promises."Religion: "The practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith."

Please don't be discouraged if you don't believe in any God figure. Use what you know about faith, religion, and your own ideas to answer the questions. Do you believe that being a good person is enough to the point that religion is not relevant?Do you think the world would be a better place without the idea of religion but rather based solely on faith?

Thanks for your help!

faith is a lot more important than religion. i think that if you pray and worship GOD everyday without knowing why you are doing it, you aren't doing a lot. yet in a way they are kind of related , its a lot better to have both. faith is the concept that you truly have in your mind which makes you follow religions. as far as the world goes i dont think it will be better without religion as religion puts limits to our livings and prevents us from doing a lot of harm to the world. religion in the world gives us the direction of faith.

i think that religion is very relevant and just being a good perosn is not enough. And yes religion can cause problems but i don't thik that world would be a better place with out it because some people need their religion to find peace and thye also may need their faith to understand their religions better.i think that haveing your faith is very import but i do think that haveing an religion is import even though reliigion have caused problems in the past and even today like in the Middle East there they are fighting over their religions and their faiths.

I think that faith is more important than religion. people do not have to go to church on a regular bases to have faith. there is nothing saying that if you do not go to church you will go to hell. I know a lot of people have busy lives and sometimes they can not make it to church, but if they still believe in god then they are fine.

I think that if their wasnt religion we would have a lot more problem in our society. But i also think that it would stop alot of wars and problems with other countries. In the past a lot of fights have been about religion. I do believe that without religion hte world would be a better place and their would be less problem with judging people based on what htey believe.

I don’t think that faith and religion necessarily have to go hand and hand. I think that faith is your true feelings towards God and the teachings of the Bible. Religion is the more structured version if faith and practicing it with a group of people. Religion is going to church and participating in church activities like Bible study groups. I do think that faith alone is good enough to get into heaven, but it is hard to grow your faith without practicing religion by going to church and bible study groups.

I feel that being a good person is a enough. I think that many people do bad things and just say "God will forgive when I got to church". I feel that it shouldn't be that way. If more people were focused on being good people and not spending some much time on their faith, then we might have a much better place to live. I think that their is so much money given to church's that is spent by them in many of the wrong aspects. When many church's get a surplus of money they don't give most of it to the community who needs it, but they bulid an addition to their space to have more members, and get more money. Which I feel is totally wrong for them to do. Not saying that church is all bad, because I have seen them do many great things. I just feel that their is many other things that they could do and not make it such a business.

I believe that being a good person and doing the right things in life are good enough if a person doesn't have a strong belief in any god or religion. All people are asked of in life are to be true to them self, respectful of others and do the right things. I think faith and religion are two different things. Religion combines going to church on a consistent basis, studing your beliefs and others in the same religion as yourself, but i think having good faith is good enough to put yourself in good graces with god and believing that you are and will do the right things in life.

Faith is definately a lot more important than religion. Whose to say if religion is true or false in the first place. I mean theres so many religions, how do we know which one is true or if any of them are true? So who cares what you believe in,as long as you believe in something. Faith gives us something to live for and believe in and confide in, no matter if its true what you believe in or not.

It's one thing to say somthing-it's another thing to do it. Anybody can say they believe in God or whatever, but that's just talk. A lot of people say that just to "save their ass." They are left with the burden of proof. I feel that if a person wants other people to believe what they say, it's up to them to prove it and show everyone what they are talking about. If you believe in a "higher power," great. We can all say that. Now, do something. Do i think the world would be a better place without religion? No. The definiton of faith posted is, "The trust in God and in His promises." So, by having faith, one is believing in something. The definition of religion posted is, "The practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith." A RITUAL OBSERVANCE OF FAITH. By eliminating religion, don't we automatically eliminate faith? What are we believing in? I really don't think we could have one without the other.

I feel that everyone needs something to believe in whether it is God or a lucky rabits foot. I personally believe that there is a God waiting for you when you die. It comforts me to believe that when i pass away i will be with him and my family members and friends who have passed away before me. Because of this i'm not afraid to die. Everyone can believe in something and maybe have faith in something. I don't believe that one is more important than the other. It's more about how you feel about it and not anyone else. If you have your own relationship with your God than you are fine. Being a good person probably helps, but if God is all forgiving then i'm sure it's not a major thing.

I feel faith is very important. I don't feel you need to go to church on a regular basis to understand and worship GOD. There are times when my life is rushed, preventing me to attend church on a regular basis. I pray everyday-believing in GOD. I believe that religion shouldn't be kept out of the schools, some children don't have an opportunity or exposure to develop faith and understanding of GOD's work. I know this will ultimately cause a stir, but I feel the Pledge of Allegience should stay in the schools, like it has for so many decades. If the parents do not like it, then homeschool your children.

i think you have to have faith more than religion. you already know your religion its just that you have to have faith in your God and pray to him every night. Faith is sometimes what helps people get through tough situations.

I would not say one is more important than the other because in many ways both could be equally important. I depend on faith more because i believe in God. I know if i keep my faith he will direct me in the right path. Just because faith is important to me that does not mean religion is more important to someone else. I just say both are equally important depending on the way someone looks at them.

I don't think the world would be a better place if there were no religion, some people need the act of doing or seeing to have more Faith in what they choose to beleive in. I also don't think that Religion has to be practiced by everyone to have strong Faith. Many people simply have Faith and never attend a day of church or any type of Religious practice and their Faith can easily be as strong as someone who regularly practices Religion. I'm sure not everyone feels the same, yet until you're completely in someone elses shoes than how can we denie them their Faith? To some Religion can strengthen Faith to others Religion may hamper their Faith by being to structured or just simply not their cup of tea. They both can go hand in hand, and they can also walk alone depending on who you are. Either way I hope people have either Faith, Religion, or good morals or all in order to treat others with genuine kindness & respect. Amy Marx

I'd rather have faith then religion... I believe more in science then some god like figure...i believe that he existed, but isnt our savior. i dont believe there is a heaven or hell. I believe that we are just a species like everything else and all were doing is filling a nitch. like...what happened to all the neanderthals and people that lived before christ or a god was thought to exist? During the renaissance period the kings and queens used religion to control the people. they stongly used the idea that if you dont obey them and god that your soul would forever be damned in hell. Plus, there is too many religions out there and is there a right or wrong one.. i choose not to believe because on the purpose of science and it doesnt make logic sence to me..
