War on Terror
Do you find the war on terror in the Middle East to be necessary? After the many years that have passed since 9/11 do you think that we are causing more harm to these people? Why do you feel we have stayed and sent so many soldiers over to complete this task? Do you feel that our country is wasting young lives and wasting money by being involved in their affairs?

i feel that the war doenst make since. i feel that instead of the U.S trying to take control of other countries that we should try to help, and encourage them to change their violent behaviors, or unfair treatment towards their citizens

I FEEL THAT NO WAR IS EVER NECESSARY FOR ANY REASON.I FEEL THAT THE US SHOULD STOP FIGHTING WITH ALL OF THESE OTHER COUNTRIES AND JUST WORRY ABOUT THEIR OWN COUNTRY (THE UNITED STATES).OUR COUNTRY ISNT DOING ANYTHING BUT WAISTING MONEY AND TAKING THE LIVES OF OUR YOUNG BLACK MEN TODAY, BECAUSE ONCE THEY LEAVE TO GO TO WAR THEY ARE AT RISK FOR DEATH.

I feel we have stayed over there for our safety. The government wouldn't keep the military overseas if it wasn't necessary. If we happened to pull out of war and not finish what we have started then i think possibly another 9/11 could occur. The military is a choice of the individual. They know what they are getting into when they sign. I believe the people over there are fighting for our freedom and are not wasting their lives.

I feel that this war has been going on for far too long and not much has changed except that we are sending more troops overseas. I think our government is putting all their focused on the war and not putting enough focus on the U.S. meaning there are still starving, homeless people in their backyard and not much is being done about it, yes there are shelters and pantries out there that help out, but sometimes thats not enough. But I also agree with the above statement in saying that they are staying over there for our safety and making sure that they can avoid any more threats towards the U.S. and that joining the military is a choice and they know what they have to do.

I vividly remember the morning of 9/11 and I believe it is important to stop terrorism. We have also had many more terrorist strikes and attempted terrorist strikes around the world and in our own backyard since then. If we would have just ignored the terrorist I think many plots would have been successful. As far as the Middle East those countries live under oppression, which is people living in abusive situations, they need a hand up to get out of the situation.

I have very strong feelings about 9/11. I think that the war is justified even though I do not like young men and women dying everyday for a place that most of the people do not want us there helping. I do not know whether or not the was will ever be over and I worry that if we give up and leave that there will be more terrorist attacks and more problems. I think the country is spending a lot of money that we do not have on the war but then again isn't the security of the nation something that we should be extremely worried about?

First off, Jataun V. Collins, I don't know who you are or where you are getting your facts, but we are for sure doing a hell of a lot more overseas than "wasting money and taking the lives of our young black men today". The US Military is a volunteer organization, and when I signed the papers and swore in, I swore that I would do anything (even give my life) for the safety and well-being of my country. I am deploying in about a year, and I am ready to go because I believe in the cause. We wouldn't still be over there if we didn't have a job to do.

i feel that it is unnecessary for us to have been over there this long. yes, we are doing some good for the innocent people in those countries, but we aren't doing any good for our own country being there. the majority doesn't want us in their country, that's why they keep killing our men and women. these terrorists will continue to terrorize whether we are there are not, and they will continue to find ways around our forces to get their "job" done.

I don't feel that the war on terror is necessary. However, after 9/11 the vast majority of the U.S. population was behind the President in sending troops into Afghanistan. Now after almost ten years of constant Middle Eastern conflict the American people just want the war to be over. I do think that it is causing more harm than good and the reason I think why we are still there is because we are America and can't stomach the thought of being defeated. So we will continue to waste young lives and money getting involved in other countries affairs because we think that we were meant to police the world. Until we start to mind our own business agains as we did when this country was first created we will continue to get bogged down in everyone else's mess.

I do not think that the war in the middle east is necessary. I believe that 9/11 alone was even a good reason to enter the middle east in the first place. I believe that we already have been there to long and we should start bringing troops home immediately. I think the reason we are there is for the oil not for the quality of the peoples lives in the middle east. I do think that our country is wasting young lives, money and resources fighting a war that we should not even be in the first place.

I feel that the war on terror is necessary for the security for our country. Yes our country may be putting to much time and money into the war, but we have to keep our freedom. We are making vast improvements overseas. My cousin just got back from Afghanistan a little less than a year ago and he said we were doing lots of good over there but the media only highlights the bad things about the war. I hate seeing all of those young men and women giving their lifes for our freedom, but that is what were called to do.

The war is a very controversial issue and there are many sides to it. It goes back to 9/11 when we had the attacks, we were put in a bind and had two options. One option was to retaliate which we did and the other was to leave it be and not start a war. If we wouldn't have retalieated we would have looked weak and kept oursef open for more attacks. I don't feel that we are wating lives by any means, but I feel that we could be using that large budget to help other problems here in the states.

I definitly believe the war on terrorism was a necessary step, especially after 9/11. I thought it was a good thing on our part to try and help their government to get back on their feet. I don't think the people liked taht and that's why I feel we should have backed out of there earlier. i feel we kept soldiers there to keep ties with oil, but I really didn't follow the war to much. I do feel like eventuallly it was a waste of time and money and i really don't know the real reason we stayed over there but I'm sure our government had good reason.

I think the War on Terror is just being drug out at this point. I think the intentions were good in the beginning, but there are too many troops over there right now, and there is no real end in sight. I think that this should be taken care of quickly.

i dont think its necessary but i dont really think were causing them harm. i believe we still have people over there to show the people that there are people willing to help them. we might be wasting money to be over there but then again its assuring us that there wont be another attck anytime soon.

There will never be peace, or a world filled with sane people. War is something that helps people fight for what they want, and what they want is freedom. Not a dumb reason like fighting for money, or just because. If there is a reason then yes. Like the Vietnam war, we wasted so many lives, and backed out. Once we go in, we should keep fighting. Because soilders injured wasted something for nothing. To fight for their counrty, and help beat the enemy so no one else had to. But instead you leave them in despair. If war is needed, we should have it.
