Oil Depletion
Why are oil prices on a constant rise? Do you think the high cost of gas today reflects a shortage of fossil fuel resources at a global level? If so, what are some influences causing oil depletion? Where should we start looking for other resources besides oil? Should the United States continue drilling in Alaska? How about in the gulf? What effect did the recent oil spill have on oil depletion? What can people do to better conserve oil in America?

OIL PRICES ARE ON A CONSTANT RISE BECAUSE THERE ISNT THAT MUCH TO OFFER, SO IN ORDER FOR THE WORLD TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASE MORE OIL THEY HAVE TO RISE THE PRICE OF THE OIL. Do you think the high cost of gas today reflects a shortage of fossil fuel resources at a global level? YES, THIS COULD BE A REASON FOR THIS HAPPENING. MAYBE THE UNITED STATES SHOULD FIND A DIFFERENT LOCATION TO GET THEIR OIL FROM. TO CONSERVE OIL IN AMERICA WE SHOULD DRIVE ONLY WHEN NECESSAY AND ALSO USE OIL AT A MINIMUM.

I believe oil is on a constant rise because the government is making too much money off of it for them to lower the prices. Yes we are running short of fossil fuel and could possible run out of oil in the next 20-30 years. Some influence are all the transportation we are using in the united states, plus being over at war. Some ways to conserve oil are carpooling, if you are not going far or don't live far from work ride a bicycle. then there is also the use of hybrid cars.

I believe oil prices are on a constant rise because the government can use this as a means to reduce some the country deficit. They know everyone needs and use oil/gas so why not increase prices. I don't believe that there is a shortage of fuel. This is just of way to build revenue for the country.

Oil is a non-renewable resource so once it is gone, it is gone forever. I believe that there is still a lot left in the world but I think that prices are just going to continue to rise because people are always going to want it and need it, they will always be willing to pay the prices. On Facebook, I always receive invitations to boycott gas stations for the day. I do not know why people think this will work because boycotting it for one day will not do anything! I do think that the country needs to find a better way to run things like cars rather that just relying on oil. I do not have a problem with drilling in Alaska as long as they are not harming the environment in a drastic way.

I feel like it doesn't matter why oil prices are rising. They're going to continue to rise, and eventually we will run out of oil. This is common knowledge, so we just need to find ways to become less dependent on non-renewable resources.

oil is on a content rise because the government and the gas companies are making money and are raising our taxes so that we could pay more for everything, its doesn't really effect them and their families so its no really a bid issue for them

i think the high prices on gas today are another ridiculous way of our government pulling more of our money out of our pockets. they have been fighting in the middle east for decades over the supply of their oil and how can we get it. we have oil resources in our own country/continent that if they would drill more, i think that our gas prices could go down. mexico has a lot of oil...why don't we pass a law that when a mexican family crosses the border, they bring a barrel of oil per person in the family? that would probably bring in a lot more for our economy and maybe even cut down on illegals coming in, taking advantage of our systems, etc. no, i'm not attacking the mexicans, i just think that since they have so much and they come here and take so much, why can't we make a little trade?
I believe that oil prices rise because of depletion of fossil fuels. I also believe that we have known and thought about this idea for a very long time. In that time we should have been preparing a little more in case things like this occured. Also people should be more conservative and this depletion could slow down. Also by finding an alternative it could help the ozone and enviroment all together.

I believe that there are many reasons why oil prices are constantly rising. I do not think that there is a shortage of fossil fuels i believe that the countries that have the fuel are regulating the prices to make money. One reason that there is oil depletion is the use of cars in the united states and other countries. I think to conserve oil we should start developing more fuel efficient vehicles.

I think that the gas prices are at a constant rise because people will pay the high prices because it is a resource that they need to go to work, shopping, and many other things. There is still a lot of oil left on the earth, but it will come to an end. I do not feel that the oil depletion does not effect the prices. We could start looking into man-made fuels and even renewable resources. I feel that we should drill in Alaska because the way it will be done will not effect the wildlife in that area. I say that we should drill in the gulf, if only the government would allow drilling to happen closer to shore. The gulf spill did not help out the oil depletion, but I do not think that it made a huge impact on it.

Oil is on the rise today because the big oil conglomerates (companies) influence the government. Oil tycoons know that oil is the lifeblood of a modern industrialized society. Their position allows them to dictate to the American people the dollar amount of gasoline. Oil companies and the government make so much profit off of gasoline taxes. They know that they can get away with setting whatever price they want and get away with it. I think that there is no real checks and balances when it comes to oil prices. I think that the high cost of gas has more to do with the greed of the billion dollar oil companies and politicians who go along to get along in order to get elected and keep their positions of power. Whether there is a shortage of fossil fuels I think has least do with it. I think that coal is probalby going to be the best resource to use. First of all, it is something that we have plenty of, secondly we have been using it for a long time, and thirdly we won't have to fight some foreign government over control of it. I don't see why we shouldn't drill in Alaska and continue drilling in the Gulf since we seem not to mind drilling everywhere else. The recent oil spill I think contributes greatly to us having to tap into oil reserves. Once oil is depleted its gone. It is a resource that we can only drill for so long before it dries up. The only way to better conserve oil is to try not to use a lot of it.

Oil prices are on the rise because we are not investing in alternative fuels. We also have oil reserves in america but we are afraid of oil leaks and ruining our national parks. I feel taht if we made more of an effort for alternative fuels we would be able to not only lower oil dependancy but help global warming if it is in fact a true problem. Either way oil is a fossil fuel and will run out eventually so we need to have an alternative energy to run our cars and transports for transpotation. I think we should at least start making more cars that run on diesel because its more miles per gallon. I feel we shouldn't drill a lot because we should try to make US citezens switch to alternative fuels because eventually we will have to, so why beat around the bush. I think people should deal with the gas prices for now and when they really get bad eventually switch to a more eco freindly car.

Why is are oil cost so high and still rising why is it predicted to be $6.00 a gallon over the summer? It's because the GOVERNMENT wants it to be. There is plenty of oil in America. Why don't they drill here you may ask, well that is a good question, which I don't have a good answer for. But government has control over everything. So if they want the prices high they will be high if they want them low they will be low. I think Americans should buy bikes or motorcycles. I think we shouldn't purchase as much gas by buying motorcycles.

Oil prices will continue to rise as long as we are still using it like we are. I think that any excuse to raise the prices, such as the spill, will be used because they know that we will still use it no matter what. The only way to stop oil depletion is to find other sources of energy.

Even though there is a lot of oil left, its not going to last forever and I think we need to work harder on finding alternatives so we don't completely run it dry. I don't have a problem drilling in Alaska as long as the wildlife and environment doesn't get ruined or changed drastically to screw up the ecosystem. And the oil spill depleted A TON of oil that we could have used, and we can never get that back which is the bad thing because it was all wasted. To conserve I think we should car pool or if your a walking distance to things you need or school/work you should do it, its healthier and helps the environment. You may not think it will, but it will in the long run. Also more fuel effecient cars will help, electric cars or solar cars too.

Oil prices, will rise and even more till we can't afford anymore. We need to find another to use before we end up using it all and depleting the world.
