Are You Thirsty?

The FDA has once again turned its eyes toward one of America's addictions--this time it's energy drinks. Though the ban has yet to be in effect, the process is in motion right now. The ban would target energy drinks that have more than 80 milligrams of caffeine, which is equivalent to a cup of coffee. Anything more than that and you must be over the age of 19 to purchase it. A popular drink called Four Lokos has been blamed for the cause of deaths in the state of Florida. Three states have banned the energy drink from its stores so far. One FDA official says," The concept is the same thing as for smoking. Why put foreign contents in your body?" Should energy drinks be banned? If not, should there be a certain age limit on them?

Energy drinks are very hard on your stomach. After too much at one time or over a period of time it can cause problems. We did an experiment in my biology class. We let metal objects such as nails and paperclips sit in various energy drinks. Over the course of a week they were dissolved. If a drink that you are putting into your system can cause this to happen it may not be the best to use it in large amounts.

Energy drinks can harm peoples bodies in many different types of ways. It all depends on how your body partakes the energy drink. It may affect some people worse than others. It shouldn't be banned people just need to know their limits when it comes to drinking these. No, there shouldn't be an age limit on them because if it was the younger people would still be able to get them just like younger people are still able to have liquor....just have someone to go and get it for you. #thatisall.

I don't think that there should be a high age limit on the energy drinks maybe like 15 yrs. old I don't think it would be a good idea for a a ten year to be drinking them. When a person ages their body is more prone to more harsh ingredients,so a child should not be able to purchase this. I know a few years ago i would drink one everyday and it really had no harmful effect on me. Although, I think there should be some sort of limit annually that one person can purchase to where it can't destroy your body.

Yes energy drinks are bad for you. I don't think they should be banned because they are bad for you. It is your choice whether you want to drink it or not, just like smoking and drinking alcohol. And for the Four Lokos they are banned from some states because they have alcohol along with caffine. I believe in that drink there is like 9 shots of vodka and 4 cups of coffee. Regular energy drinks should not be banned or have an age limit.

I think that energy drinks should be banned. I do not agree with putting that much caffeine into your body. In recent studies, it has been shown that energy drinks can increase heart rate, blood pressure, cause dizziness and many other problems. A year ago, my little brother was in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Peoria when a teenaged boy came in in cardiac arrest from drinking too many energy drinks. The boy had no other medical problems. I think that if they do not ban all energy drinks than they should at least make the age limit to buy be 18. If you do choose to drink them, just make sure not to mix them with any alcohol because this can make the bad side effects much greater.

There are all kinds of things people do that are unhealthy. Speeding, smoking, drinking, drugs, not doing any sort of physical activity beyond changing the tv channel, eating junk food.. Attacking energy drinks is just trying to pin the blame on a substance instead of the person. I feel like there should be an age limit on it, but banning it won't help anything.

I feel that energy drinks are like alcohol, if taken in small amounts they are okay for you body. I if you take them in large amounts they can be dangerous. If the FDA should put any type of regulation on them than they should put an age limit on them, just like tobacco. Hopefully by the time that you are 18 you should be able to control the amount of intake and you should know when to stop.

I believe age limits on energy drinks is a very good idea. These drinks have the potential to be very dangerous if they are not monitored correctly. They can have very negative affects if taken in large amounts. I believe children do not quite understand the harmful affects that these energy drinks can have on their young bodies. Caffeine is a very powerful drug that i think should always be monitored closely. I believe 18 would be a good age limit to buy energy drinks that contain more caffeine than a cup of coffee.

certain energy drinks should be banned and some should stay in ma opininon. the energy drinks that are FDA approved and are still haveing affects on peoples bodies in some kind of ways. energy drinks in genral have lodes amounts of caffeine in it. the same as a person consuming largesa amounts of coffee cups per day can still have the same affects as the energy drink. in that case why not banned caffeine? so many thoughts about this subject, and really important facts, but whose to say whosse right or wrong.

Energy drinks are really not good for your body, but they do help you stay up. I would not recomend drinking energy drinks often because of the long turm damage the drink does to your body.

Some people think that energy drinks are safe for you but really they aren't. They are probably just as bad for you as alcohol is.

What is the point drinking energy drinks anyways? all your doing is hurting your body. Energy drinks shouldn't even be called energy drinks since they don't keep you awake that long and they don't taste good.

I personal don't think a lot of things should be banned. I mean come on people have a choice in what they are putting in there body I mean ok its killing people so don't take it duh. But if you want to go ahead then I feel like if it is really killing people they should put a label on it, and after that if they want to buy it and drink it that is there choice. I mean everybody is gonna die one day so if they know the consequences of drinking it that's as far as one needs to go. I think you should be the age of 18 to buy it just like buying a pack of smokes, they also kill.

I don't think that energy drinks should have an age limit on them. Four Lokos contain alcohol, and people already have to be 21 to buy them. These are the beverages of concern, not ones that just have caffeine.

Four locos, first of all is and alcholic energy drink and actually really messed people up. I would actuctually consider getting rid of four locos, or joose's but regular energy drinks, definitly no. Everyone has had an energy drink before and it doesn't do anything to effect your body, at least not in my experience. Its like the kids form of coffee. There is such a big market for energy drinks, there's no way they will ban them. They could put an age limit on them i guess but i don't really see the purpose. It's not nearly as bad as tobacco products, and if we can keep that on the market, i don't see why we can't have energy drinks.

I love energy drinks! Yes they are bad for you, but so is junk food and drugs and many other things and banning energy drinks would solve nothing, coffee is an energy drink...are they going to ban that next? I use to drink 2 monsters a day and nothing happened to me, my body stayed the same and didn't have dizzyness or my heart didn't race. But like others have said it has different affects on people. But I do believe that there should be an age limit, maybe around 15 yrs old. Any younger than that then they are at risk of really hurting their still developing bodies.

I think energy drinks are not healthy at all and should be ban, nothing good can come of them, drink them and they only last for awhile. They even cause death to people, which isn't good at all, its almost like drinking poison.
