Do you think the war on drugs is working? Or has it become a war against America's citizens? Do you think the drug problem in this country is gettting out of control? Can you think of anything that could be done about it?

I think the war on drugs is working. It's hard to know if the drug problem is shrinking or growing in America because the media only informs us of the drug busts and all the negatives associated with this. We are unaware of all the people who are turning their lives around and are now drug free. I think the best way to stop drug abuse is to stop the drugs from being delivered. The U.S. already has a task force for this, but I think they need to increase their manpower to bust more people.

I believe that the war on drugs is not doning any thing but spending our money that could be spent on better things. I also dont believe that it is so much a problem as it is that the government believes that they cant be wrong no matter what they do.

I think the war on drugs is working to accertain exstint, but the government is taking it not serious as it taking the war in Araq. Let just say for the sake of argument, if they could do more to stop the war on drugs they would have done something 30years ago. It's like I said it's not top priority now or later down the road.

I think that this country spends way too much money on antidrug campaigns. They are not effective and cost a lot of money. I don't think that the so called war on drugs has made any difference on the rate that drugs are coming into this country and the rate at which people are buying them. I think that the more they try to control something that a lot of people are doing the worse it is getting. They don't try and control alcohol and cigarrettes so I don't see why they are trying to control all the other types of drugs. I think that people are going to do what they want to do whether it is legal or not. Trying to control the illegal sale of drugs is not going to stop it or deter people from using them. It will just making it harder and more dangerous for people to get them. If they were regulated some how then maybe there could be some contro over the violence that comes along with the selling and buying of drugs.

To be honest I didn't even know that there was a war on drugs. I feel like the drug popularity is becoming overwhelming. I watch the news or over hear someone talking and the part that surprises me is the conversation of drugs. You watch a simple t.v. show and there will always be a commit about drugs. I have mixed feelings about if America is doing a good job with controlling the situation. It feels that if you aren't doing some type of drug you aren't living life to the fullest. If you looked at the 90's drugs seemed to be a hidden subject. Drugs in the 90's wasn't something that many people talked about that much publicly. Compared to today, drugs have become a normal part of life. Now that I think more about it, I don't feel that America is doing the best job it could to put a stop to drugs.Rachel Kirby
I think that the war on drugs isn't working like it should be or is working to slowly. I don't know how they're handling the other drugs but I've just seen a documentary on crystal meth on "WILL" and it showed how since nineteen-nintey-three has spread from the west across the country to the east. They had all the states color coded where black means meth is being used heavily and clear means it isn't being used at all. The entire west coast, by 2003, had been colored entirely in black and the mid-west is starting to turn to the darker colors. This needs to be stopped somehow. Cops either need to start taking already meth users' to their drug prevention speeches at schools to make kids face the realities of this drug or set up more stings. I've for one never seen the temptation of using drugs so I don't completely understand the situation of people doing them.

I think it has detered some people but over all we are fighting a very tough battle. There is so many way to traffic drugs. I think the meth problem could get out of contro very easy. It is so addicting. Continue to educate people on the subjects and effects. Especially in high school.

I think the war on drugs is a losing war. The gov't is totally going after the wrong people. It's the dealers from Mexico,Cuba,and South America that they should be going after the big time dealers.

i think that war on drugs is working a little. but lets face it we aren't going to stop it all. i do think that drug problems are gettin out of control. in some cases we know that people are on drugs yet we don't do anything about it. such as alot of the rappers some of them have to be on drugs (yin yang twins). i def think that we need to pick up the war on drugs meaning being more stricked about it.

I don't even think there is a war on drugs, as we look around, all we see is drug abuse becoming an out of control problem. I know that there are enough law enforcement, and concerned citizens, to make the problem go away however, i don't think it will disappear soon unfortunately.
