I truly believe that preschool is a major start for a child's social ability. Children learn young and if they learn to interact with people at a young age then they won't become as socially inept as they would without preschool. I have had no training with children and can't give an educated answer but I think preschool is mostly for the social. Children will learn how to interact with other people of their age, not be afraid to speak up to someone they don't know, and be able to talk better with random people.
I don't remember if I went to preschool or not, but I do know that after being home schooled and in private school, that my social ability is a lot lower than most people my age.

Preschools teach children how to interact with others. I do believe that children who attend preschool or those that are educated at home early on have a better chance at success during school later on. If you recognize a child weakness in their academics from a younger age then they can get a jump start on improving them. It also teaches them more adult interaction as well, it shows them how to act appropriate when mommy is not around. However, out of the six children in my family, the oldest three went to preschool and the younger three (which I am part of), did not go to preschool. The younger three of us were all A-B students, my younger brother even skipping a grade and a half. For someone to convince me that we needed preschool wouldn't have worked. We spent time with the children in my mom's daycare when we were at the preschool age, and when we started kindergarten, we were all told we were more advanced than most kids. However, I recognize that some children do need that extra time with other kids and just the time for development.I know several children that have benefited from going to preschool and really got their basics down because of that, especially how to interact with other children and adults. -Hannah Miller
i think it is very important to for our children to go to pre-school. Children learn and pick up on things quicker than many would like to believe. An example would be as soon as a baby is born. That baby has heard their mothers voice for 9 months. When that baby hears that voice; you can see that baby respond. You can tell the difference when you start interacting with a child sooner than kindergarden. That baby is more developed, socially and mentally. I aslo feel that children who are pre-schooled have a better attention span and are able to retain more. Children learn about ABC’s, shapes, colors, numbers and how to respectively respond to authority such as police and firefighters when necessary. They also learn a different number of things through repetitive song and dance. Preschool also teaches them about more realistic theories such as “Stranger Danger” and how to call, and when you should call “911 Emergency”. Themes such as kindness, “Please and Thank You”, courteousness, morality, helpfulness, honesty, peace, love, prosperity, intellect, harmony, and community are also taught in preschool. I also feel that preschool may help children for Kindergarten once they graduate. So overall preschool is helpful--and in some cases necessary.
In a lot of ways I feel that pre-school can be a great help to some children from the interaction with other children to spending extra-time learning fundamentals of learning. I also believe that some pre-schools should upgrade their curriculum to challenge the children they are teaching. Some preschools are considered more of a daycare.One of the preschools that my daughters went to was at our local Lutheran Church and I feel it helped my daughter a tremendous amount and at the same time many parents use pre-schools as a babysitter not as a learning facility. I think any early learning a child can get cannot hurt them but I don't feel it just has to come from a pre-school. Many of the lesson children learn can come from their parents or parents can help reinforce what their child is learning... the more the merrier. They are so many products out now a days that focus on teaching small children early reading, writing and math and some say the earlier the better before the child's mind gets overwhelmed with stuff it doesn't really need or starts to resist learning. The first years of a child are the most important and as I have said the earlier children start to learn the better off they will be regardless if it's from a pre-school or a parent as long as the same goal is to help the child learn.

As a mom of three I can honestly say that none of my children went to preschool, but they went to day care. I think that all children need interaction with children outside of their family. Like I have heard commented in a few of the other post most parents think of preschool as daycare. If the parents aren't willing to take the time to work with their child on what they "learned" in preschool today, then it doesn't justify the whole early learning process. Preschool is mainly for making sure the child knows the little things such as ABC's, counting, tying shoes, knowing colors and shapes,socialization with peers and so on. The parents are suppose to teach their children those basic things. Preschool is only going to benefit the child if the parent continues the work at home. Another thing I have noticed is that the only way a child can get into preschool is if they are at a disadvantage, meaning that their level of what should already be known isn't where it is suppose to be. I don't think that is fair to those parents who do work with their children to make sure the knowledge they need is there. I don't think preschool is a big deal for kids. I think that kindergarten is a fine place to start education, because, from what I remember, preschool was basically daycare. It seemed like kids don't really learn anything in preschool, they just go there to be watched by adults. If a person can't afford to send their kids to preschool, it isn't a huge deal.
I think that pre school is a great way to start off a child's social development. But needed no its not. A family could be teaching the same basic concepts at home and be very social with one another. It would do the exact same thing as pre school and still allow them to live normally. Now i still think that being around others besides your family could help these things further. And in doing so could help your child further advance themselves. But needed is a bit far fetched.
I think that preschool is a good idea, but it is not completely necessary. Kids who go to preschool are not superior to kids who don't go to preschool. It’s true that they interact with other children, but preschool isn’t the only place that a child could be with others. Not all children require seeing other kids every day to enhance their social abilities. Some people are just naturally more social than others. I think it’s healthy for children to see others their own age, but it isn’t absolutely necessary. Many parents could also just as easily teach their children instead of sending them to preschool. They would probably learn more that way, seeing as a parent could focus all their time on the child, while a preschool teacher is dealing with the entire class as a whole instead of just one at a time. I think that a child's development at a young age is very important. My opinion is preschool is where the child learns how to interact with other kids their age. If u think about it, kids that young don't really interact with kids of different races, cultures, and families. A lot of kids have brothers and sisters but they grow up with them and know how their personalities are. They also learn how to share and do other basic things we do in life we don't even think about. Is preschool important for children? Yes, it is important. This is the time where things become more established as far as their interactions with other people outside of their immediate families. They learn what is "nice" and "not nice" and what is acceptable in a social environment.
