Are credit cards an addiction?

Do you have a credit card? For what purposes do you think that credit cards should be used for? In recent years, teens began receiving credit card applications in the mail. Do you think its possible that the credit card companies are trying to get us "hooked" on their cards while we are young and cannot make payments according to their credit and financing terms?

From a company stand point they are trying to get as many people to use creidt cards. And for an irresponsible person they will get traped in debt. But for the resposible person it is a way to start a good credit score.

To me it doesnt matter if you use a credit card as long as you can pay your bill. with interest rates as high as they are, why would you not pay it. be smart

I do believe that the credit card companies are trying to get people to sign up for credit cards. A lot of people that are in debt have a lot of credit card debts that need to be payed of also.

Credit cards are a way for someone to spend money they dont have. I can see a loan for a truck or house, but the only thing at all i could see a credit card being useful for a huge emergency. Other than that you could just use a debit card. Credit cards are a death trap

credit cards are a way to make poor people look "rich" and really all your doing is making your life even worse when you end up in debt. i understand you need something to build credit so you can by more expensive stuff. The bank to trust you with the money

I don't personally have a credit card. i have recieved many credit card applications since i was 17 and the credit card companies are trying to get younger people hooked to using credit cards since many younger people are niave and no nothing of what they are getting themselves into.

No i do not think credit cards are an addiction. I think the problem is people having access to money they dont have and people just think they can pay it back and in all reality once your credit card bill, along with your other bills come you will not have enough money to pay both. so the right decision is to pay bills and worry bout credit card payment later.

Yes I have a credit card. I'd received a credit card when I was younger. I was irresponsible in using my credit card. I think having a credit card at a young age can be an addiction

credit card companies are trying to get teens to use thier credit cards beacuse they know that most students dont have as much income as most adults and they might not be able to pay it so the credit card companie will make more intrest on them

I think credit card companies want people to be in debit so they can make more money. The credit card companies make money by the interest and late payments to the account. Once people are in financial debt it'll take years to recuperate and may even lead to bankrupt.

plastic cards are bad you spend more money then you have and causes you to go into debt.

I think they should make so you have to be 21 to be able to apply for a credit card. They should also make you show that you have some sort of financial responsibility. I think that most young people dont truely understand the kind of trouble that credit cards can get you in.

I think credit cards are good and bad, and sometimes they should only be used for emergencies. cause if you use a credit card too much and you dont pay it back then you could end up becoming bank rupt or oweing alot of people alot of money.

I think credit cards are a really big addiction. I personally have a credit card and before I got it I told myself that it was just for emergency purposes only, too bad my plan didn't go out as planned. Now I have more control over and don't use it unless NECESSARY! It's true that they send them out to you even if you didn't apply and keep sending them.

There is absolutely no reason to have a credit card. If you don't have the money for it, you shouldn't buy it. If you need to buy something over the internet you can use the debit card that is issued from almost all the banks. And if you use it like a credit card you are entitled to the same protections as a traditionsl credit card. So the excuse that you're worried about fraud is not relevent.

Of course, thats their whole plan. Get em while their young, thats the credit card companies plan. Think about it, what would you do if u where in their shoes

I think credit cards are a way to get into dept quickly. Most people don't think about the dept they are getting themselfs into. Your not only paying for the item you are buying, but also the extra to the credit card companys. If you are younger and not use to paying bills, you could get yourself in a lot of dept. Just passing a card, and not counting out dallor bills, make you forget how much you are spending. I belive the credit card companys know this, and understand, the younger you are,the more you will spend.

I don’t have a credit card and I don’t ever plan on getting one. I believe credit cards should be used for money if it’s absolutely necessary. A good idea would be too just have some money saved up for an emergency because a credit card will end up making things harder on you on day. I’m sure if you have one and you use it, it’s possible to become hooked. Buying things before you can pay for them? Of course any girl would fall in love with that idea.
